The capabilities of chitosan and chitosan-EGDE （ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether） beads for removing Acid Red 37 （AR 37） and Acid Blue 25 （AB 25） from aqueous solution were examined. Chitosan beads were cross-linked with EGDE to enhance its chemical resistance and mechanical strength. Experiments were performed as a function ofpH, agitation period and concentration of AR 37 and AB 25. It was shown that the adsorption capacities of chitosan for both acid dyes were comparatively higher than those of chitosan- EGDE. This is mainly because cross-linking using EGDE reduces the major adsorption sites -NH3＋ on chitosan. Langmuir isotherm model showed the best conformity compared to Freundlich and BET. The kinetic experimental data agreed very well to the pseudo second-order kinetic model. The desorption study revealed that after three cycles of adsorption and desorption by NaOH and HCl, both adsorbents retained their promising adsorption abilities. FT-IR analysis proved that the adsorption of acid dyes onto chitosan-based adsorbents was a physical adsorption. Results also showed that chitosan and chitosan-EGDE beads were favourable adsorbers and could be employed as low-cost alternatives for the removal of acid dyes in wastewater treatment.

In lighting design,mean room surface exitance(MRSE)has been known as an indicator of the adequacy of illumination in an indoor *** studies have suggested an exponential model relating MRSE and the observer’s retinal *** is particularly applicable in a room with homogenous room surface reflectance and a constant total corneal illuminance,which is the total illuminance received at the ***,accuracy of the exponential model is yet to be assessed in ***,the implication on interior lighting design is also yet to be *** study thus aims to assess the accuracy of the exponential model and to optimise the output *** computations using Monte Carlo simulation are performed for various input variables,followed with sensitivity and uncertainty analyses and *** errors of the exponential model are found between-10%and 6%.The MRSE is highly influenced by surface reflectance,whereas the total corneal illuminance is influenced by the source luminous *** design parameters are obtained by minimising the ratio between total corneal illuminance and ***,this study provides guidelines in lighting design practice for enhancing room spatial brightness while minimising energy use.

In terms of planning aspect,nuclear power plant(NPP)development needs analyses,consideration,and right decision making due to multi criteria *** study prioritizes the best site development of Indonesian NPPs in terms of 21 social,economic,and technical perspectives which comprise transmission network,oper-ating cost,economic impact,geology,geotechnic,seismology,population density,environment,cooling water,meteorology,hydrology,proximity to hazardous facilities,topography,land use,proximity to wetland,evacu-ation route,security,transportation network,legal consideration,impact of tourism,land ownership,historical places,and public acceptance,all identified to be considerations for the best *** Fuzzy algorithms(Chang’s Extent Analysis and Buckley’s Fuzzy AHP)were used to determine the criteria priorities as well as NPP site feasibility of two locations in *** results found that geology,geotechnic,and seismology(SA1);security(SO1),population density(SA2),environment(SA3),and cooling water(SA4)had the highest priorities among the 21 *** on the 5 top priority criteria,West Kalimantan and East Kalimantan provinces serve as the best candidates for the NPP *** an innovative and novel multi criteria Fuzzy AHP–based decision making(MCDM)approach has been proven to become a useful reference to select NPP sites in Indonesia.

Objective:To characterize the major allergens of Macrobrachium rosenbergii.(giant freshwater prawn).Methods:Raw and cooked extracts of the giant freshwater prawn were *** IgE reactivity pattern was identified by sodium dodecyl sulfate polyaerylamide gel electrophoresis(SDS-PAGE)and immunoblotting technique with the sera of 20 skin prick test(SPT)positive *** major allergen identified was then characterized using the proteomics approach involving a combination of two-dimensional(2-DE)electrophoresis,mass spectrometry and bioinformatics ***:SDS-PAGE of the raw extract showed 23 protein bands(15-250 kDa)but those ranging from 40 to 100 kDa were not found in the cooked *** immunoblotting experiments,raw and cooked extracts demonstrated 11 and 5 IgE-binding proteins,respectively,with a molecular mass ranging from 15 to 155 kDa.A heat-resistant 36 kDa protein was identified as the major allergen of both *** addition,a 42 kDa heat-sensitive protein was shown to be a major allergen of the raw *** 2-DE gel fractionated the prawn proteins to more than 50 different protein *** these,10 spots showed specific:IgE reactivity with patients'*** assisted laser desorption/ionization-lime of flight(MALDI-TOF)analysis led to identification of 2 important allergens,tropomyosin and arginine ***:It can be concluded that the availability of such allergens would help in component-based diagnosis and therapy of prawn allergies.

The research aims to examine how ancestor language contributed to character building and to explore some ways to protecting local languages from death. Questionnaires and an interview were used to gather information from students and teachers at Institut Keguruan dan Ilmu pendidikan (IKIP) Mataram. Qualitative information also came from documents and some were derived from language theories. Analysis indicated that the formation of character education should consider local language as its component part;the cooperation of mother tongue into character education could be of assistance to preserving local languages from disappearance. The study was restricted to a small scale research and the analysis was developed within the context of IKIP Mataram. The findings would help to have a better understanding of the significance of mother tongue in character formation, to recommend character education as model of future education. The study was originally based on the primary information and had never been sent for publication. The results could be of benefit to those who are of interest to research into teaching.

The rapid spread of COVID-19 pandemic has forced several countries in the world to store vaccines in cold storage towards ensuring their protection from being damaged and to maintain their ***,most remote clinics,especially those in the equator and islands,are faced with the challenges of hot climates and the inability to afford electricity resources needed to power the cold storage ***,the hot equatorial region has abundant solar energy to power the vaccine cold storage but previous studies showed that several field workers do not have the ability to maintain the vaccine storage temperature as indicated by the manufacturer’s ***,this literature review study examines the prospects and challenges of implementing solar-powered cold storage to provide cooling space for remote *** is expected to contribute significantly to cold chain vaccine management *** findings showed that four technology integration schemes including Cold Storage Ice Maker,Cold Storage Ice Maker-PCM,Refrigerator-Ice Maker and,Absorbing Cooling-PV-Ice Maker have the potential to be applied in clinics situated in certain tropical regions.

Determination of Malaysian Herbs and Spices as Biopreservative Agents in Food Products

Preservatives are usually added to food products to ensure longer shelf life and prevent decomposition process and microbial growth. However, synthetic food preservatives can also give negative side effect to health and are harmful to human and animal physiology. Based on the potential of herbs and spices as antimicrobial agent, the purpose of this study is to identify antibacterial activity from extracts of some local herbs and spices: Phaeomeria speciosa (P. speciosa), Aquilaria subintegra (A. subintegra), Polygonum minus (P. minus), Syzygium aromaticum (S. aromaticum), Cinnamomum verum (C. verum) and Piper nigrum (P. nigrum) against food bacteria using disc diffusion method. Results revealed that dichloromethane extracts of C. verum, hexane extracts of S. aromaticum and P. minus showed the most active antibacterial against tested bacteria. The Minimal Inhibitory Concentrations (MIC) ranged from 25 to 75 mg/ml for dichloromethane extract of C. verum, hexane extract of S. aromaticum and P. minus. Therefore further research should be pursued to identify the chemical structure of antibacterial agents from the active extracts as an alternative source of natural preservatives.

Objective:This study aimed to determine the effect of Oketani massage with jasmine oil on improving breast milk production on days *** and Methods:This preexperimental one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted with 44 eligible respondents,selected using an incidental sampling *** massage with jasmine oil was conducted once a day for 3 consecutive days.A total of 44 respondents were selected with incidental *** breast milk production was observed through the frequency of baby urination in 24 h,the frequency of baby defecation in 24 h,the baby’s weight,and the length of time the baby slept or remained calm after ***:Results showed that Oketani massage using jasmine oil impacted on increasing breast milk production in postpartum on days 1-3(Z=6.633,P=0.000).The baby’s weight in 3 days was increased after intervention compared with intervention before(2858.25±180.62 g vs.2881.66±180.96 g,t=55.33,P=0.000),the baby’s urination frequency was increased after intervention(4.55±0.50 vs.7.20±0.70,t=17.87,P=0.000),the breastfeeding frequency has decreased(10.27±1.42 vs.8.82±0.82,t=6.94,P=0.000),and the time of baby’s sleeping or calming state has increased(5.14±6.46 h vs.8.48±10.24 h,t=2.11,P=0.041).Conclusion:Oketani massage combined with jasmine oil has been shown to be effective on improving breast milk production on days 1-3.
