Accumulating evidence suggests that Toll-like receptor 4 （TLR4）, a sensor for danger signals, is expressed not only in immune cells, but also in resident epithelial cells, and appears to participate in tissue homeostasis. To explain the premetastatic microenvironment created by the newly discovered endogenous TLR4 ligands, I propose a hypothesis of homeostatic inflammation that includes the classical danger hypothesis.

As an increasing number of people have become interested in healthy and environmentally friendly farm products,the diffusion process of sustainable farming has been widely ***,few studies have empirically investigated the differences between early adopters and early majority in diffusion of environmentally friendly *** purpose of this study is to examine the existence of the gap between early adopters and the early majority in the diffusion of environmentally friendly certified farm production by focusing on the case in which a frequent buyers program(FBP)was introduced for locally certified crops in the farmers markets of *** there were no differences in the characteristics of the two groups,early adopters initiated such production through governmental information provision and expected more profit than the adopters that *** was also found that non-economic reasons and information on stable markets for the certified products were crucial for both adopter groups.

The Pine Barrens in New York state are dominated by pitch pine(Pinus ridgida) and scrub oaks(Quercus ilicifolia and Q. prinoides). With fire suppression over the last 90 years or so, P. rigida regeneration has become sparse, even in areas set aside to preserve this type of vegetation. We evaluated the effects of fire and an alternative disturbance(mechanical removal of vegetation)for increasing P. rigida regeneration in the Albany Pine Bush Preserve in eastern New York state. By comparing cover, diameter and height of P. rigida, Q. ilicifolia, ***, and Vaccinium spp.(blueberry) growing on the sites with a known fire history, we documented structural and compositional changes in the vegetation since its establishment. We also compared sites on which Quercus sprouts were controlled through mechanical removal. In the years following a disturbance, height and cover of Q. ilicifolia increased continuously and the species became increasingly competitive. Both the density of P. rigida seedlings and Vaccinium cover decreased significantly as the diameter and height of Quercus increased. Our results confirmed that the dominance by P. rigida could be attributed to periodic fires at intervals of 20–25 years. We conclude that removing Q. ilicifolia can favor P. rigida dominance on the barren without fire by releasing pine seedlings from competition.

Premature ovarian failure(POF)is a prevalent gynecological disorder with significant implications for the physical and mental well-being of affected *** Wei Di Huang Wan(LWDHW),a Chinese herbal compound,has demonstrated efficacy in alleviating the effects of ***,the underlying mechanism of action of LWDHW remains *** study aimed to elucidate the potential molecular mechanism of LWDHW in treating POF using network pharmacology and molecular docking *** active ingredients of LWDHW were initially screened through the TCMsP *** the same time,the relevant target genes associated with POF were identified using databases such as Disgenet,TTD,Drugbank,Gene Cards,OMIM,and Pharm *** analysis was conducted using the R language,Cytoscape,and sTRING to construct and analyze the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)regulatory network and protein-protein interaction(PPI)network ***,GO and KEGG enrichment analyses were performed using the R ***,molecular docking was carried out between the protein receptors of the core genes and the corresponding small-molecule *** study revealed 49 components and 189 predicted targets(after de-duplication)of LWDHW,along with 4524 targets(after de-duplication)associated with *** comparative analysis,163 potential genes were identified as common targets of LWDHW and POF,participating in biological processes such as response to chemical substances,molecular function regulation,and signaling receptor *** biological pathways implicated included the MAPK signaling pathway,IL-17 signaling pathway,and HIF-1 signaling pathway,among *** docking results demonstrated a robust binding ability between the core genes of LWDHW and their corresponding *** conclusion,this comprehensive analysis provided insights into the potential molecular mechanisms of LWDHW in treating *** identified common targets and associated pathways contributed to

Lymphadenectomy for urothelial carcinoma of the upper urinary tract has attracted the attention of physicians. The mapping study of lymphatic spread has shown that a relatively wide area should comprise the regional nodes for tumors of the right renal pelvis or the right upper two-thirds of the ureter. A prospective study showed that an anatomical templatebased lymphadenectomy significantly improved patient survival in tumors of the renal pelvis. This benefit was more evident for patients with p T2 stage tumors or higher. The risk of regional node recurrence is significant reduced by template-based lymphadenectomy,which is likely to be associated with improved patient survival. The removal of lymph node micrometastases is assumed to be the reason for therapeutic benefit following lymphadenectomy. The number of resected lymph nodes can be used to assess the quality of lymphadenectomy,but not to determine the extent of lymphadenectomy. The guidelines currently recommend lymphadenectomy for patients with muscle-invasive disease,even though the current recommendation grades are still low. The present limitation of lymphadenectomy is the lack of standardization of the extent of lymphadenectomy and the randomized trials. Further studies are warranted to collect the evidence to support lymphadenectomy.

A new effective technique, useful in telecommunications industry for passing an optical telephone cord attached to a connector through pipeline,has been developed using the spiral flow. Using this technique, the cord could be passed through a straight pipeline 150 meters long and a roll of vinyl tube 50 meters long. However, under the same condition, the cord could not pass through when using the turbulent flow. To obtain a high speed stable spiral flow, a nozzle with an annular slit connected to a conical cylinder was used. A pressurized fluid with no tangential flow was supplied through this slit and the fluid, passing through the conical cylinder, was deformed into spiral flow with the steeper axial velocity distribution compared to that of turbulence pipe flow due to Coanda effect and instability. As a result, the cord was attracted to the axis area of the pipe, which effectively increased the ability for the work of cord passing. This high ability for cord passing is attributed mainly to the reduction of the friction made between the cord and the pipe wall, caused by the deformation to spiral flow.

Background Birth weight is a strong determinant of infant short-and long-term health *** socioeconomic position(sEP)is usually positively associated with birth *** this association extends to abnormal birth weight or there exists potential mediator is *** We analyzed data from 14,984 mother-infant dyads from the Born in Guangzhou Cohort *** used multi-variable logistic regression to assess the associations of a composite family sEP score quartile with macrosomia and low birth weight(LBW),and examined the potential mediation effect of maternal pre-pregnancy body mass index(BMI)using causal mediation *** The prevalence of macrosomia and LBW was 2.62%(n=392)and 4.26%(n=638).Higher family sEP was associated with a higher risk of macrosomia(OR 1.30,95%CI 0.93-1.82;OR 1.53,95%CI 1.11-2.11;and OR 1.59,95%CI 1.15-2.20 for the 2nd,3rd,and 4th sEP quartile respectively)and a lower risk of LBW(OR 0.69,95%CI 0.55-0.86;OR 0.76,95%CI 0.61-0.94;and OR 0.61,95%CI 0.48-0.77 for the 2nd,3rd,and 4th sEP quartile respectively),compared to the 1st sEP *** found that pre-pregnancy BMI did not mediate the associations of sEP with macrosomia and *** socioeconomic disparities in fetal macrosomia and LBW exist in southern *** the results can be applied to other populations should be further investigated.
