The japanese eel(Anguilla japonica)is a commercially important fi sh species in East Asia and its recruitment has been rapidly declining since *** the genetic population structure of *** is the basis of multinational cooperation on its management and protection,due to its large distribution ***-associated markers have been proved powerful in delineating fi ne-scale population genetic structure and spatially varying *** the present study,we developed 24 polymorphic gene-associated microsatellite markers including 18 loci associated with the genes under selection in the two North Atlantic eel species(Anguilla anguilla and Anguilla rostrata)and 6 loci based on transcript sequences.A total of 13 geographic populations were sampled across its distribution range,including 11 samples from China(9 from China’s mainland and 2 from Taiwan region),and 2 samples from japan.A total of 416 individuals(mostly glass eels)were collected and genotyped at the 24 *** measures of diff erentiation were accordant with a panmictic scenario(F ST=-0.001)in *** footprints of spatially varying selection were found,indicating that the selection pattern in *** might be diff erent from that in the two North Atlantic eel *** suggest that *** should be managed as a single unit and management and conservation eff orts must be coordinated at the international level,as overexploitation in any region will decrease its recruitment across the whole distributional range.

Ocean thermal energy conversion(OTEC)is a process of generating electricity by exploiting the temperature difference between warm surface seawater and cold deep *** to the high static and dynamic pressures that are caused by seawater circulation,the stiffened panel that constitutes a seawater tank may undergo a reduction in ultimate *** current paper investigates the design of stiffening systems for OTEC seawater tanks by examining the effects of stiffening parameters such as stiffener sizes and span-over-bay ratio for the applied combined loadings of lateral and transverse pressure by fluid motion and axial compression due to global bending *** ultimate strength calculation was conducted by using the non-linear finite element method via the commercial software known as *** stress and deformation distribution due to pressure loads was computed in the first step and then brought to the second step,in which the axial compression was *** effects of pressure on the ultimate strength of the stiffener were investigated for representative stiffened panels,and the significance of the stiffener parameters was assessed by using the sensitivity analysis *** a result,the ultimate strength was reduced by approximately 1.5%for the span-over-bay ratio of 3 and by 7%for the span-over-bay ratio of 6.

Objectives:The bacteriostatic effects of a citral nanoemulsion against Shewanella putrefaciens CN-32(SHP CN-32)were investigated using in vitro culture and gene expression analysis,forbuilding a potential application in spoilage microorganism control and aquatic products quality *** and Methods:SHP CN-32 was treated by prepared citral nanoemulsion when the minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC)was *** growth curve,membrane integrity,scanning electron microscope(SEM)observation,biofilm formation and quorum sensing(QS)signaling molecule Al-2 content were evaluated in different MIC treatment groups(0 to 1.00 MIC).The gene expression status of SHP CN-32 in O and 0.50 MIC groups were compared using transcriptome sequencing and quantitative polymerase chain reaction(PCR).Results:The in vitro culture revealed that the citral nanoemulsion could inhibit the growth of SHP CN-32 with MIC of approximately 200μg/*** of membrane *** and biofilm formation suggested significant biological structure damage in bacteria after ***,the Qs signaling molecule Al-2 content showed a decline with increasing treatment *** sequencing and quantitative PCR revealed that the majority genes related diversified functional metabolic pathways of SHP CN-32 were downregulated at varying ***:A significant bacteriostasis of citral nanoemulsion against SHP CN-32 was verified via the results of growth inhibition,structural destruction,signal molecular decrease and gene expression downregulation of *** synergies significantly affect the characteristic expression of SHP CN-32,revealing the application potential as bacteriostat,QS inhibitor and preservative in aquatic products.

The complex life histories of demersal fishes are artificially separated into multiple stages along with changes in morphology and *** is worth exploring whether the phenotypes expressed earlier and later during the life cycle are related or *** life stages of first year Pacific cod(Gadus macrocephalus)were tracked over different hatch years and regions to test whether the early life history had a long-lasting effect on subsequent *** further explored the contribution of growth in the early and subsequent life history stages to body size at the end of each *** addition to the accessory growth centre and the first annual ring,the other two checks on the otolith possibly related to settlement and entering deeper waters were identified in 75 Pacific cod *** direct and indirect relationships among the life history stages was interpreted based on path *** results showed that growth prior to the formation of the accessory growth centre had a significant effect on the absolute growth of the fish before and after settlement and migration to deep ***,there was no or moderate evidence that early growth affected the body size at each stage,which was mainly regulated by growth during the *** study supports the lasting effect of early growth and clarifies that it affects size mainly by indirectly regulating staged *** the phenotype relationships and identifying the internal mechanisms form the basis for assessing population dynamics and understanding the processes behind the changes.

Climate change can aff ect fi sh individuals or schools,and consequently the fi *** future changes of fi sh distribution and abundance helps the scientifi c management of fi *** dynamic bioclimate envelope model(DBEM)was used to identify the“environmental preference profi les”of the studied species based on outputs from three Earth system models(ESMs).Changes in ocean conditions in climate change scenarios could be transformed by the model into those in relative abundance and distribution of ***,the distributional response of 17 demersal fi shes to climate change in the Yellow Sea could be projected from 1970 to *** of latitudinal centroid(LC)and mean temperature of relative abundance(MTRA)were used to represent the results conducted by *** present that 17 demersal fi sh species in the Yellow Sea show a trend of anti-poleward shift under both low-emission scenario(RCP 2.6)and high-emission scenario(RCP 8.5)from 1970 to 2060,with the projected average LC in three ESMs shifting at a rate of-1.17±4.55 and-2.76±3.82 km/decade,respectively,which is contrary to the previous projecting studies of fi shes suggesting that fi shes tend to move toward higher latitudes under increased temperature *** Yellow Sea Cold Water Mass could be the major driver resulting in the shift,which shows a potential signifi cance to fi shery resources management and marine conservation,and provides a new perspective in fi sh migration under climate change.

The internal energy of the Solid Earth is mainly transferred through thermal convection of the ***,we discuss the 10^(20)-J-scale energy relating to the dynamics of the Solid Earth’s *** energy released from the interior of the present-day Earth to outer space per year is estimated as E_(earth)=1.4×10^(21) J yr^(-1) based on the recent dataset of globally observed crustal heat flow,which is a factor of two or three times larger than the annual energy consumption of the total population of the world,5.7×10^(20) J yr^(-1).Of the energy from global crustal heat flow,the energy released by all of the major hotspot plumes in volcanic vents per year is estimated as E_(plume)=7.2×10^(19) J yr^(-1),which is approximately only 6%of the *** propose that a large number of mantle plumes have not emerged as hotspots on the Earth’s surface,with the possibility that Eplume is larger than expected if the energy released from small seamounts of the Earth is *** the heat(energy)budget of the Earth,the heat production by the decay of radioactive isotopes in the mantle and crust is nearly comparable to the heat released by the secular cooling of the *** Eearth,the annual energy released by the secular cooling of the Earth is estimated as 6.6×10_(20) J yr^(-1).This energy is closely related to the geothermal energy from our planet.

The Ujaragssuit Nunat layered(UNL)unit in the Itsaq Gneiss Complex,west Greenland,has been consid-ered to contain one of the oldest chromitites on Earth based on~ca.4.1 Ga Hadean whole rock Pt-Os model ages and ca.3.81 Ga zircon U-Pb age of the surrounding *** study obtained zircon from the chromitite within this unit as well as granitoid sheets that intruded into the UNL ***-situ U-Pb-Hf-O isotope measurements were made on the *** from both the chromitite and the intrusive granitoids show concordant U-Pb ages of ca.2.97-2.95 *** contrast,Hf and 0 isotopic anal-yses indicate that zircons in the chromitites have a different origin from those in the intrusive *** from granitoids yielded Th/U ratios higher than 0.2,initial Hf isotope ratios of 0.2805-0.2807(i.e,initial:Hf value of-11 to-5),andδ^(18)O values of mostly 6.0‰-7.0‰,which are typical for felsic igneous rocks in Archean continental *** least altered zircons from a chromitite exhibited initial Hf isotope ratios of 0.28078-0.28084(i.e.,initial:Hf value of-1.1 to-0.4),close the chondritic value at ca.3.0 Ga and the depleted mantle at ca.3.2 *** zircons also haveδ^(18)O values of 4.2‰6.1‰which correspond to typical mantle *** other chromitite zircons yielded Th/U ratios lower than 0.1,and Hf and 0 isotopic compositions ranging between the least altered zircons and the intrusive granitoid *** results indicate that the zircons in the chromitites crystallized before or during the 2.97-2.95 Ga granitoid intrusion and most of the zircons were altered by subsequent ***,the present results suggest that zircons in the chromitites originally had depleted Hf iso-topic compositions at ca.3.2-3.0 *** can be explained by two different models of the evolution of the UNL *** is that if the UNL unit was formed at>3.81 Ga as previously thought,with the zircons in the chromitites subsequently being precipitated by ca.3.2-2.95 G

Based on a vector radiative transfer model of the atmosphere–ocean system,the influence of oceanic components on radiation processes,including polarization effects,was investigated in the wavelength region ranging from 0.380 to 0.865 μ*** components considered were phytoplankton,inorganic suspended material（sediment）,and colored,dissolved organic *** to their important roles in oceanic radiation processes,the sensitivity of the bidirectional reflectance to the rough ocean surface,represented by the wind velocity 10 m above the ocean surface,and aerosol,were taken into *** results demonstrated that both radiance and polarized radiance just below the ocean surface were sensitive to the change of the concentrations of the considered components,while the dependence of polarized radiance on the observation geometry was more sensitive than *** differences in the specular plane existed between the impacts of the phytoplankton and sediment on the degree of polarization just above the ocean surface at 670 *** the top of the atmosphere（TOA）,polarization was relatively insensitive to changing concentrations of ocean particles at longer ***,the radiance at the TOA in the solar plane was more sensitive to the aerosol optical thickness than wind *** contrast,wind velocity strongly influenced the radiance at the TOA in the sun glint region,while the polarization degree showed less dependence in that ***,a nonlinear optimal inversion method was proposed to simultaneously retrieve the aerosol and wind velocity using radiance measurement.
