Exploring the relevance between load-bearing capacity and surface friction behavior based on a layered hydrogel cartilage prototype

Cartilage is well lubricated over a lifetime and this phenomenon is attributed to both of the surface hydration lubrication and the matrix load-bearing *** hydrogels with a layered structure are designed to mimic cartilage as potential *** many studies have concentrated on improving surface hydration to reduce friction,few have experimentally detected the relationship between load-bearing capacity of hydrogels and their interface friction *** this work,a bilayer hydrogel,serving as a cartilage prototype consisted of a top thick hydrated polymer brush layer and a bottom hydrogel matrix with tunable modulus was designed to investigate this *** coefficient of friction(COF,μ)is defined as the sum of interfacial component(μInt)and deformation/hysteresis component(μHyst).The presence of the top hydration layer effectively dissipates contact stress and reduces the interface interaction(μInt),leading to a stable and low *** contribution of mechanical deformation(μHyst)during the sliding shearing process to COF can be significantly reduced by increasing the local mechanical modulus,thereby enhancing the load-bearing *** results show that the strategy of coupling surface hydration layer with a high load-bearing matrix can indeed enhance the lubrication performance of hydrogel cartilage prototypes,and implies a promising routine for designing robust soft matter lubrication system and friction-control devices.

Vanadium oxide cathode materials with stable crystal structure and fast Zn^(2+)storage capabilities are extremely important to achieving outstanding electrochemical performance in aqueous zinc‐ion *** this work,a one‐step hydrothermal method was used to manipulate the bimetallic ion intercalation into the interlayer of vanadium *** pre‐intercalated Cu ions act as pillars to pin the vanadium oxide(V‐O)layers,establishing stabilized two‐dimensional channels for fast Zn^(2+)*** occupation of Mn ions between V‐O interlayer further expands the layer spacing and increases the concentration of oxygen defects(Od),which boosts the Zn^(2+)diffusion *** a result,as‐prepared Cu_(0.17)Mn_(0.03)V_(2)O_(5−□)·2.16H_(2)O cathode shows outstanding Zn‐storage capabilities under room‐and lowtemperature environments(e.g.,440.3 mAh g^(−1)at room temperature and 294.3 mAh g^(−1)at−60°C).Importantly,it shows a long cycling life and high capacity retention of 93.4%over 2500 cycles at 2 A g^(−1)at−60°***,the reversible intercalation chemistry mechanisms during discharging/charging processes were revealed via operando X‐ray powder diffraction and ex situ Raman *** strategy of a couple of 3d transition metal doping provides a solution for the development of superior room‐/lowtemperature vanadium‐based cathode materials.

Developing new functional explosives that display high stability,good energy performance,and low sensitivity are one of the key directions of energetic materials *** this work,two-dimensional(2D)Schiff-based energetic covalent organic frameworks(COFs)are prepared based on triaminoguanidine salts with different anions as building *** from the robust covalent bond in 2D extended polygons and strongπ-πinteractions in the eclipsed interlayers,the synthesized energetic COFs showed higher thermal stability and lower mechanical sensitivity than their precursor *** importantly,incorporating triaminoguanidine salts into COFs effectively increase the corrosion resistance to metal under high humidity conditions,which is due to the imine moieties in COFs functioning asπacceptors and offering strong bonding with metallic *** work provides a new pathway for the development of high-performance energetic materials.

The screw air-source heat pump can cause incessant high noise levels during operation,which might hinder adoption of this energy-efficient heat ***,acoustic measurements and comparison testing were performed in this *** measurements revealed that the compressor is the main noise source of the heat pump,and it shows a multipeak frequency distribution and a wide frequency spectrum under different work conditions,with multiple peaks at 63,250,and 1000 ***,a compressor sound insulation cover with broadband absorption was proposed,and it was experimentally proven that the insulation cover can reduce the maximum sound pressure level of one unit from 89.8 dBA to 79.1 ***,we proposed several noise reduction strategies and compared their noise reduction effects using computer *** results showed that the noise problem can be effectively improved through the rational design of the sound barrier and the layout and opening options of heat *** distance between the sound barrier and heat pump and the sound attenuation due to diffraction ALa exhibit a U-shaped *** buildings of different heights,the optimal heights of noise barrier are *** 5.5-meter is the optimal height of the sound barrier for single-story *** conclusions can be applied to other building projects for heat pump noise reduction.

Aqueous Zn-ion batteries(AZIBs) have emerged as potential candidates for Li-ion batteries due to their intrinsic safety and high ***,metallic Zn anodes encounter dendrite growth and water-induced corrosion,rendering poor stability and severe irreversibility at the electrode/electrolyte interface during *** stabilize the Zn anode,we report a low-cost and effective nonionic surfactant,Tween-20 polymer,as an electrolyte additive for *** Tween-20,sequential oxyethylene groups tended to be preferentially adsorbed on the Zn electrode to form a shielding layer for regulating uniform Zn ***,the hydrophobic hendecyl chains prevented H_(2)O-induced corrosion on the Zn anode *** from the desired functional groups,when only trace amounts of Tween-20(0.050 g·L^(-1)) were used,the Zn anode displayed good cycling stability over 2170 h at10 mA·cm^(-2) and a high average Coulombic efficiency of98.94% over 1000 *** Tween-20 polymer can also be effectively employed in MnO_(2)/Zn full *** their toxicity,price and amount of usage,these surfactant additives provide a promising strategy for realizing the stability and reversibility of high-performance Zn anodes.

Energy consumption simulations of rural residential buildings considering differences in energy use behavior among family members

The“average occupant”methodology is widely used in energy consumption simulations of residential buildings;however,it fails to consider the differences in energy use behavior among family *** on a field survey on the Central Shaanxi Plain,to identify the energy use behavior patterns of typical families,a stochastic energy use behavior model considering differences in energy use behavior among family members was proposed,to improve the accuracy of energy consumption simulations of residential *** results indicated that the surveyed rural families could be classified into the following four types depending on specific energy use behavior patterns:families of one elderly couple,families of one middle-aged couple,families of one elderly couple and one child,and families of one couple and one ***,on typical summer days,the results of daily building energy consumption simulation obtained by the“average occupant”methodology were 25.39%and 28%lower than the simulation results obtained by the model proposed in this study for families of one elderly couple and families of one middle-aged couple,and 13.05%and 23.05%higher for families of one elderly couple and one child,and families of one couple and one *** typical winter days,for the four types of families,the results of daily building energy consumption simulation obtained by the“average occupant”methodology were 21.69%,10.84%,1.21%,and 8.39%lower than the simulation results obtained by the model proposed in this study,respectively.

Lithium-sulfur batteries(LSBs)with high energy densities have been demonstrated the potential for energy-intensive demand ***,their commercial applicability is hampered by hysteretic electrode reaction kinetics and the shuttle effect of lithium polysulfides(LiPSs).In this work,an interlayer consisting of high-entropy metal oxide(Cu_(0.7)Fe_(0.6)Mn_(0.4)Ni_(0.6)Sn_(0.5))O_(4) grown on carbon nanofibers(HEO/CNFs)is designed for *** CNFs with highly porous networks provide transport pathways for Li^(+) and e^(-),as well as a physical sieve effect to limit LiPSs *** particular,the grapevine-like HEO nanoparticles generate metal-sulfur bonds with LiPSs,efficiently anchoring active *** unique structure and function of the interlayer enable the LSBs with superior electrochemical performance,i.e.,the high specific capacity of 1381 mAh g^(-1) at 0.1 C and 561 mAh g^(-1) at 6 *** work presents a facile strategy for exploiting high-performance LSBs.

While the grid-connected capacity of rural household photovoltaics is increasing rapidly,achieving dynamic supply-demand matching despite fluctuations in solar energy is *** the rapid development of rural electrification,battery-powered technologies,such as electric vehicles and electric agricultural machinery,are becoming increasingly popular in rural *** this context,utilizing idle mobile batteries to assist in energy storage for rural residential buildings offers a new way to solve the problem of dynamic supply-demand *** this study,a field survey was conducted on several typical fruit-growing villages in the Central Shaanxi Plain in Shaanxi Province of *** rural households were selected to calculate the electricity loads of the residential buildings,with due consideration to the intervention of mobile *** the premise of installing 3 kW household photovoltaic systems in rural households,an economical efficiency-oriented model was built for the optimal regulation of flexible *** results were compared in the context of two patterns of electricity consumption,i.e.,unidirectional charging of mobile batteries from buildings and bidirectional charging and discharging between mobile batteries and *** bidirectional pattern significantly increased the photovoltaic consumption of typical rural households on various typical ***,during both scenarios of not implementing time-of-use and implementing time-of-use,the typical day of the winter slack farming season exhibited the best photovoltaic consumption effect among all types of typical ***,the bidirectional pattern also result in a significant increase in the annual electricity sales revenues for typical rural households.

Although various routes have been reported for haloazidation,unavoidable problems exist,such as environmentally unfriendly monomer halogen,the need for in situ generation of unstable halogen azides(XN3),applicability to one type of haloazidation and inability to precisely control ***,we developed a universal strategy for haloazidation of alkenes through controlling the reactivity of IBA-N_(3) by switching halogen salts,allowing for the synthesis of a diversity of halogen azide *** studies have shown that by tuning the reactivity of IBA-N_(3) via switching halogen salts,different intermediates can be controllably produced to achieve regioselectivityand chemoselectivity in thehaloazidationof alkenes.
