The goal of spectral imaging is to capture the spectral signature of a *** scanning method for spectral imaging suffers from large system volume and low image acquisition speed for large *** contrast,computational spectral imaging methods have resorted to computation power for reduced system volume,but still endure long computation time for iterative spectral ***,deep learning techniques are introduced into computational spectral imaging,witnessing fast reconstruction speed,great reconstruction quality,and the potential to drastically reduce the system *** this article,we review state-of-the-art deep-learning-empowered computational spectral imaging *** are further divided into amplitude-coded,phase-coded,and wavelength-coded methods,based on different light properties used for *** boost future researches,we've also organized publicly available spectral datasets.

A lithium-niobate-on-insulator(LNOI)electro-optic(EO)modulator based on a 2×2 FP-cavity was designed and realized with an ultra-compact footprint and an ultra-high bandwidth.A comprehensive analysis on the present LNOI FP-cavity modulator was conducted to reveal the dependence of modulation bandwidth and modulation effi-ciency on the cavity Q-factor and the operation wavelength detuning to the *** particular,the 2×2 FP cavity was designed to achieve an optimal Q factor by reducing the reflectivity of reflectors and the cavity length,thus reducing the photon lifetime in the *** ultra-short effective cavity length of only∼50μm was achieved for the designed LNOI FP-cavity modulator,with itsfootprint being as compact as∼4×500μm *** was demonstrated theoretically that the modulation bandwidth could be improved significantly to be over 200 GHz by utilizing the peaking enhancement *** fabricated device exhibited an excess loss of∼1 dB and an extinction ratio of∼20 dB in experiments,while the measured 3-dB bandwidth was higher than 110 GHz(beyond the maximal range of the facilities in experiments).Up till now,to our best knowledge,this has been the first LNOI microcavity modulator with a bandwidth higher than 110 ***,high-quality eye-diagrams of 100 Gbps on-off keying(OOK)and 140 Gbps 4-pulse amplitude modulation(PAM4)signals were demonstrated experimentally,and the energy consumption for the OOK signals was as low as 4.5 fJ/bit.

An optical phased array(OPA)is a promising non-mechanical technique for beam steering in solid-state light detection and ranging *** performance of the OPA largely depends on the phase shifter,which afects power consumption,insertion loss,modulation speed,and ***,for a thermo-optic phase shifter,achieving good performance in all aspects is challenging due to trade-ofs among these *** this work,we propose and demonstrate two types of energy-efcient optical phase shifters that overcome these trade-ofs and achieve a well-balanced performance in all ***,the proposed round-spiral phase shifter is robust in fabrication and fully compatible with deep ultraviolet(DUV)processes,making it an ideal building block for large-scale photonic integrated circuits(PICs).Using the high-performance phase shifter,we propose a periodic OPA with low power consumption,whose maximum electric power consumption within the feld of view is only 0.33 ***,we designed Gaussian power distribution in both the azimuthal(ψ)and polar(θ)directions and experimentally achieved a large sidelobe suppression ratio of 15.1 and 25 dB,respectively.

Photonic waveguides are the most fundamental element for photonic integrated circuits(PICs).Waveguide properties,such as propagation loss,modal areas,nonlinear coefficients,etc.,directly determine the functionalities and performance of ***,the emerging waveguides with bound states in the continuum(BICs)have opened new opportunities for PICs because of their special properties in resonance and ***,we review the recent progress of PICs composed of waveguides with ***,fundamentals including background physics and design rules of a BIC-based waveguide will be ***,two types of BIC-based waveguide structures,including shallowly etched dielectric and hybrid waveguides,will be ***,the challenges and opportunities of PICs with BICs will be discussed.

Arrayed waveguide grating is a versatile and scalable integrated light dispersion device,which has been widely adopted in various applications,including,optical communications and optical ***,thin-film lithium niobate emerges as a promising photonic integration platform,due to its ability of shrinking largely the size of typical lithium niobate based optical *** would also enable multifunctional photonic integrated chips on a single lithium niobate ***,due to the intrinsic anisotropy of the material,to build an arrayed waveguide grating on X-cut thin-film lithium niobate has never been ***,a universal strategy to design anisotropyfree dispersive components on a uniaxial in-plane anisotropic photonic integration platform is introduced for the first *** leads to the first implementation of arrayed waveguide gratings on X-cut thin-film lithium niobate with various configurations and *** best insertion loss of 2.4 dB and crosstalk of−24.1 dB is obtained for the fabricated arrayed waveguide grating *** of such arrayed waveguide gratings as a wavelength router and in a wavelength-division multiplexed optical transmission system are also demonstrated.

Recently,high-performance thin-film lithium niobate optical modulators have emerged that,together with advanced multiplexing technologies,are highly expected to satisfy the ever-growing demand for high-capacity optical interconnects utilizing multiple ***,in this study,a compact lithium-niobate-on-insulator(LNOI)photonic chip was adopted to establish four-channel wavelength-division-multiplexing(WDM)transmitters,comprising four optical modulators based on ultracompact 2×2 Fabry-Perot cavities and a four-channel WDM filter based on multimode waveguide *** fabricated chip with four wavelength channels has a total footprint as compact as 0.3×2.8 mm^(2),and exhibits an excess loss of~0.8 dB as well as low inter-channel crosstalk of<–22 *** this LNOI photonic chip,high-capacity data transmissions of 320 Gbps(4×80 Gbps)on-off-keying signals and 400 Gbps(4×100 Gbps)four-level pulse amplitude signals were successfully realized with the ultra-low power consumption of 11.9 fJ/bit.
