MoS_(2) nanoflowers and PEDOT:PSS nanocomposite enabling wearable dual-mode pressure sensors

A versatile sensing platform employing inorganic MoS_(2) nanoflowers and organic poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate)(PEDOT:PSS)has been investigated to develop the resistive and capacitive force-sensitive *** microstructure of the sensing layer heightens the sensitivity and response time of the dual-mode pressure sensors by augmenting electron pathways and inner stress in response to mechanical ***,the capacitive and resistive sensors exhibit sensitivities of 0.37 and 0.12 kPa^(-1),respectively,while demonstrating a remarkable response time of approximately 100 ***,it is noteworthy that the PEDOT:PSS layer exhibits excellent adhesion to polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)substrates,which contributes to the development of highly robust force-sensitive sensors capable of enduring more than 10000loading/unloading *** combination of MoS_(2)/PEDOT:PSS layers in these dual-mode sensors has shown promising results in detecting human joint movements and subtle physiological ***,the sensors have achieved a remarkable precision rate of 98%in identifying target *** outcomes underscore the significant potential of these sensors for integration into applications such as electronic skin and human-machine interaction.

This paper presents a systematic investigation of the microstructure and magnetocaloric properties of melt-extracted Sm_(20)Gd_(20)Dy_(20)Co_(20)Al_(20)high-entropy *** fabricated wires exhibited an amorphous structure,and the temperature interval of the undercooled liquid AT was 45 *** microwires underwent a second-order magnetic transition from a ferromagnetic to a paramagnetic state near the Curie temperature(T_(C)=52 K),The maximum magnetic entropy change(-ΔS_M^(max)),the relative cooling power and the refrigeration capacity reached 6.34 J·kg^(-1)·K^(-1).422.09 J·kg^(-1)and 332.94 J·kg^(-1),respectively,under a magnetic field change of 5 *** addition,the temperature-averaged entropy changes with two temperature lifts(3 and 10 K)were 6.32 and 6.27 J·kg^(-1)·K^(-1),*** good magnetocalorie performance highlights the significant potential for the Sm_(20)Gd_(20)Dy_(20)Co_(20)Al_(20)microwires to be used as magnetic refrigerant materials in low-temperature region *** work will serve as a valuable reference for future investigations on low-temperature high-entropy magnetocaloric materials.

Enhancing Tropical Cyclone Intensity Estimation from Satellite Imagery through Deep Learning Techniques

This study first utilizes four well-performing pre-trained convolutional neural networks(CNNs) to gauge the intensity of tropical cyclones(TCs) using geostationary satellite infrared(IR) *** models are trained and tested on TC cases spanning from 2004 to 2022 over the western North Pacific *** enhance the models performance,various techniques are employed,including fine-tuning the original CNN models,introducing rotation augmentation to the initial dataset,temporal enhancement via sequential imagery,integrating auxiliary physical information,and adjusting *** optimized CNN model,i.e.,visual geometry group network(VGGNet),for TC intensity estimation is ultimately *** applied to the test data,the model achieves a relatively low mean absolute error(MAE) of 4.05 m s~(-1).To improve the interpretability of the model,the SmoothGrad combined with the Integrated Gradients approach is *** analyses reveal that the VGGNet model places significant emphasis on the distinct inner core region of a TC when estimating its ***,it partly takes into account the configuration of cloud systems as input features for the model,aligning well with meteorological *** several improvements made to this model's performance offer valuable insights for enhancing TC intensity forecasts through deep learning.

Fatty acids derived from oviposition systems guide female black soldier flies(Hermetia illucens)toward egg deposition sites

The black soldier fly,Hermetia illucens,comes with big promises for industrial purposes since its larvae feed polyphagously on a broad spectrum of organic ***,research focusing on adult flies is scarce,which is inconsistent with their reproductive relevance within the rearing *** particular,directed oviposition is a challenge in artificial ***,decomposing organic matter is commonly used as oviposition substrate,which has extensive potential for improvement in view of the lack of standardization and the risk of microbial ***,we identified three fatty acids and one fatty acid methyl ester derived from the surface of old oviposition sites and targeted to elucidate their effect on preference behavior and oviposition site selection using Y-olfactometry and prepared oviposition sites,*** to tetradecanoic acid attracted gravid females and stimulated oviposition most strongly,while decanoic acid demonstrated a repulsive *** kept in mixed-sex populations were attracted by tetradecanoic acid,resulting in a higher egg mass found in the compound box(3.0–11.4 fold),a≥2.3 fold reduction of nonspecifically deposited eggs,and the highest total egg ***,decanoic and dodecanoic acid caused females to lay a greater proportion of eggs nonspecifically outside both *** data suggest that fatty acids,especially tetradecanoic acid,are important cues for oviposition site selection in black soldier *** order to achieve a directed oviposition behavior,the role of further short-and long-chain fatty acids as attractants should be examined.

The thermal conductivity ofε-iron at high pressure and high temperature is a key parameter to constrain the dynamics and thermal evolution of the Earth’s *** this work,we use first-principles calculations to study the Hugoniot sound velocity and the thermal transport properties ofε-*** total thermal conductivity considering lattice vibration is 200 W/mK at the Earth’s inner core *** suppressed anharmonic interactions can significantly enhance the lattice thermal conductivity under high pressure,and the contribution of the lattice thermal conductivity should not be ignored under the Earth’s core conditions.

A universal strategy of multi-objective active learning to accelerate the discovery of organic electrode molecules

Organic electrode molecules hold significant potential as the next generation of cathode materials for Li-ion batteries. In this study, we have introduced a multi-objective active learning framework that leverages Bayesian optimization and non-dominated sorting genetic algorithms-Ⅱ. This framework enables the selection of organic molecules characterized by high theoretical energy density and low gap(LUMO-HOMO)(LUMO, lowest unoccupied molecular orbital; HOMO, highest occupied molecular orbital). Remarkably, after only two cycles of active learning, the determination of coefficient can reach 0.962 for theoretical energy density and 0.920 for the gap with a modest dataset of 300 molecules, showcasing superior predictive capabilities. The 2,3,5,6-tetrafluorocyclohexa-2,5-diene-1,4-dione, selected by non-dominated sorting genetic algorithms-Ⅱ, has been successfully applied to Li-ion batteries as cathode materials, demonstrating a high capacity of 288 m Ah g-1and a long cycle life of 1,000 cycles. This outcome underscores the high reliability of our framework. Furthermore, we have also validated the universality and transferability of our framework by applying it to two additional databases, the QM9 and OMEAD. When the training dataset of the model includes at least 500 molecules, the determination of coefficient essentially reaches approximately0.900 for four targets: gap, reduction potential, LUMO, and HOMO. Therefore, the universal framework in our work provides innovative insights applicable to other domains to expedite the screening process for target materials.

On-Chip Micro Temperature Controllers Based on Freestanding Thermoelectric Nano Films for Low-Power Electronics

Multidimensional integration and multifunctional com-ponent assembly have been greatly explored in recent years to extend Moore’s Law of modern ***,this inevitably exac-erbates the inhomogeneity of temperature distribution in microsystems,making precise temperature control for electronic components extremely ***,we report an on-chip micro temperature controller including a pair of thermoelectric legs with a total area of 50×50μm^(2),which are fabricated from dense and flat freestanding Bi2Te3-based ther-moelectric nano films deposited on a newly developed nano graphene oxide membrane *** tunable equivalent thermal resistance is controlled by electrical currents to achieve energy-efficient temperature control for low-power electronics.A large cooling temperature difference of 44.5 K at 380 K is achieved with a power consumption of only 445μW,resulting in an ultrahigh temperature control capability over 100 K mW^(-1).Moreover,an ultra-fast cooling rate exceeding 2000 K s^(-1) and excellent reliability of up to 1 million cycles are *** proposed on-chip temperature controller is expected to enable further miniaturization and multifunctional integration on a single chip for microelectronics.

This study is focused on the effect of vibration induced by moving trains in tunnels on the surrounding ground and structures.A three-dimensional finite element model is established for a one-track railway tunnel and an adjacent twelve-storey building frame by using commercial software Midas GTS-NX(2019)and Midas *** study considered the moving load effect of a complete train,which varies with space as well as with *** effect of factors such as train speed,overburden pressure on the tunnel and variation in soil properties are studied in the time *** a result,the variations in horizontal and vertical acceleration for two different sites,i.e.,the free ground surface(without structure)and the area containing the structure,are ***,the displacement pattern of the raft foundation is plotted for different train *** lower speeds,the heaving phenomenon is negligible,but as the speed increases,both the heaving and differential settlement increase in the *** study demonstrates that the effect of moving train vibrations should be considered in the design of new nearby structures and proper ground improvement should be considered for existing structures.

Effect of mutations on acetohydroxyacid synthase(AHAS)function in Cyperus difformis L.

Cyperus difformis *** a troublesome weed in paddy fields and has attracted attention due to its resistance to acetohydroxyacid synthase(AHAS)*** was found that the amino acid mutation in AHAS was the primary cause for the resistance of Cyperus ***,the effect of different mutations on AHAS function is not clear in Cyperus *** confirm the effect of mutations on AHAS function,six biotypes were collected,including Pro197Arg,Pro197Ser,Pro197Leu,Asp376Glu,Trp574Leu and wild type,from Hunan,Anhui,Jiangxi and Jiangsu provinces,China and the function of AHAS was *** AHAS in vitro inhibition assay results indicated that the mutations decreased the sensitivity of AHAS to pyrazosulfuron-ethyl,in which the I_(50)(the half maximal inhibitory concentration)of wild type AHAS was 0.04μmol L^(-1)and Asp376Glu,Pro197Leu,Pro197Arg,Pro197Ser and Trp574Leu mutations were 3.98,11.50,40.38,38.19 and 311.43μmol L^(-1),*** the determination of enzyme kinetics parameters,the Km and the maximum reaction velocity(Vmax)of the wild type were 5.18 mmol L^(-1)and 0.12 nmol mg^(-1)min^(-1),respectively,and the Km values of AHAS with Asp376Glu,Trp574Leu,Pro197Leu and Pro197Ser mutations were 0.38-0.93 times of the wild *** Km value of the Pro197Arg mutation was 1.14times of the wild type,and the Vmax values of the five mutations were 1.17-3.33-fold compared to the wild *** was found that the mutations increased the affinity of AHAS to the substrate,except for the Pro197Arg *** a concentration of 0.0032-100 mmol L^(-1)branched-chain amino acids(BCAAs),the sensitivity of the other four mutant AHAS biotypes to feedback inhibition decreased,except for the Pro197Arg *** study elucidated the effect of different mutations on AHAS function in Cyperus difformis and provided ideas for further study of resistance development.
