The study of twins provides a unique opportunity to evaluate the genetic and nongenetic contributions to a variance of multitude of *** research has revealed the impact of a strong genetic component to the variance of many dental *** present study was conducted to assess the dental caries and oral hygiene status in monozygotic(MZ)and dizygotic(DZ)twins.A random sample of 129 MZ and DZ twin pairs aged 6-15 years were included in this *** zygosity of twin pairs was initially recorded by facial appearance and later determined by *** caries and oral hygiene status were recorded in these twin pairs and the data were subjected to statistical *** significant difference was observed in the mean decayed,extracted due to caries and filled teeth(deft)in primary dentition and decayed,missing and filled(DMFT)in permanent dentition scores and oral hygiene status in MZ and DZ twin pair&The similarity observed in oral health status reflects the effects of a shared environment in MZ and DZ twin pairs.

Increased cardiac release of norepinephrine (NE) and depleted cardiac stores ofNE are two salient features of the human failing *** from my labo-ratory have shown that these changes are accompanied by a functional defect ofNE uptake in the cardiac sympathetic nerve *** studies have shownthat the decrease of NE uptake is caused by reduction of NE transporter density inthe sympathetic nerve endings,and this change is responsible,at least in part,forthe increased myocardial interstitial NE,decreased myocardial adrenoceptordensity,and increased myocyte apoptosis in experimental *** also provided evidence in both intact animals and cultured PC12 cells thatthe decrease of NE transporter is induced by the actions of oxidative metabolitesof exogenous NE,involving endoplasmic reticulum stress and impairedN-glycosylation of the NE *** change in the cardiac sympathetic NEuptake function,as demonstrated by [123I] metaiodobenzylguanidine in humanstudies,may not only serve as an important prognostic variable in patients withcongestive heart failure,but also be used as a surrogate for the efficacies ofvarious therapeutic interventions for heart ***,increasing evidencesuggests and further studies are needed to show that the cardiac sympatheticnerve terminal function may be a direct target for pharmacologic treatment ofcongestive heart failure.

Nano-ceramic particles can serve as reinforcing agents for metallic materials to improve their mechanical ***,it is important to ensure chemical compatibility between the matrix and *** the present study,magnesium composites with and without nano-hydroxyapatite(nHA)particles were fabricated for bone reconstruction *** different techniques were used,Conventional Sintering(CS)of powder compacts and Spark Plasma Sintering(SPS)of pre-compacted *** showed that a 10 wt%addition of nHA particles to magnesium,followed by SPS improved the compression strength by 27%.CS did not lead to any significant improvement compared to SPS processing.X-ray diffraction data after CS revealed the formation of unfavorable phases due to chemical reactions between nHA particles and the magnesium matrix,while these phases were absent after SPS *** mechanical properties of the specimens fabricated by CS were much inferior to those processed using *** shorter processing time associated with SPS leaded to reduced interaction between nHA particles and the Mg-matrix,compared to CS.

Ectomesenchymal chondromyxoid tumor: a comprehensive updated review of the literature and case report

Prompted by a unique case of an ectomesenchymal chondromyxoid tumor(ECT) of the palate in a 54-year-old female, we reviewed the English and German literature on this entity until the end of 2016 using Pub Med. The search produced 74 lingual cases with a nearly equal sex distribution and a mean age of 39.3 years, and two extra-lingual cases sharing histological and immunohistological features including nodular growth, round, fusiform or spindle-shaped cellular architecture, and chondromyxoid *** showed the majority of cases to be positive for glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP), S-100 protein,glycoprotein CD57, pancytokeratin (AE1/AE3), and smooth muscle actin(SMA); in isolated cases there was molecular-genetic rearrangement or gain of Ewing sarcoma breakpoint region 1 (EWSR1) but no rearrangement of pleomorphic adenoma gene 1 (PLAG1). At present, ectomesenchymal cells that migrate from the neural crest are considered to play a pivotal role in tumor *** cases had a benign course, although there were three recurrences. Because of the rarity of this tumor and the need for differential diagnostic differentiation from myoepithelioma and pleomorphic adenoma, both oral surgeons and pathologists should be aware of this entity.

A combination of carbon nanotubes （CNTs） and titanium （Ti） modified with TiO2 nanotubes （TiO2 NTs） was fulfilled with the aim of improving bioactivity of Ti ***,well-ordered TiO2 NTs were prepared by the electrochemical anodization of Ti in an ethylene glycol electrolyte containing 1 wt% NH4F and 10 wt% H2O at 20 V for 50 min,followed by ***,the carboxylated CNTs were coated onto the TiO2 NTs using electrophoretic deposition （EPD） *** growth of hydroxyapatite （HA） on the samples was investigated by soaking them in simulated body fluid （SBF）.The result showed the CNTs-coated Ti with the modification of TiO2 NTs （CNTs-TiO2 NTs） was more efficient to induce HA formation than the CNTs-coated smooth Ti （CNTs-Ti）.The vitro cell response was evaluated using osteoblast cells （MC3T3-E1）.The good cell proliferation and strong cell adhesion could be obtained on the CNTs-TiO2 *** results indicated that CNT coating on the Ti modified with TiO2 NTs could be potentially useful for the periodontal ligament combination on dental implants.

Characterization of the salivary microbiome in healthy Thai children

Objective: To investigate the composition of the salivary microbiome of 50 healthy Thai children. Methods: A total 76 provinces in Thailand are grouped into 5 geographical clusters based on unique economics, foods and lifestyles. Geographical locations and the results of an oral assessment were also considered. Genomic DNA was extracted from stimulated saliva samples. Subsequently, amplicon libraries were prepared by 16 S Metagenomic Sequencing Library Preparation. The amplicons were sequenced using an Illumina Miseq platform followed by bioinformatics and statistical ***: The correlation between oral hygiene status and caries history varied from r^2=0.887 to r^2=0.999 in the geographical groups, suggesting oral hygiene status a strong association between caries history. Twenty taxonomic groups were found in all subjects and constituted 93.6%-96.5% of the microbiome. Of these, genus Veillonella and Prevotella showed significant differences in their proportions between the geographical groups(P<0.05). Furthermore, the proportion of Veillonella parvula, as well as Rothia aeria and Rothia dentocariosa tended to increase with worse oral hygiene status, which was also related to higher dental caries ***: The differences in the salivary microbiome as related to geographic regions suggest that environmental factors, which may include dietary habits, could influence the predominant bacteria found in the mouth of Thai children, especially the genus Veillonella and Prevotella. The ratio of Veillonella parvula, Rothia aeria and Rothia dentocariosa may be indicators of worse oral hygiene status and future caries in this population.
