In this article, we have considered the simultaneous influence of ohmic heating and chemical reaction on heat and mass transfer over a stretching sheet. The effects of applied magnetic field are also taken into consideration while the induced magnetic field is not considered due to very small magnetics Reynolds number. The governing flow problem comprises of momentum, continuity, thermal energy and concentration equation which are transformed into highly nonlinear coupled ordinary differential equations by means of similarity transforms, which are then, solved numerically with the help of Successive Linearization method(SLM) and Chebyshev Spectral collocation method. Numerical values of skin friction coefficient, local Nusselt number, and Sherwood number are also taken into account with the help of tables. The physical influence of the involved parameters of flow velocity, temperature and concentration distribution is discussed and demonstrated graphically. The numerical comparison is also presented with the existing published results and found that the present results are in excellent agreement which also confirms the validity of the present methodology.

For solid-fluid interaction, one of the phase-density equations in diffuse interface models is degenerated to a "0 = 0" equation when the volume fraction of a certain phase takes the value of zero or unity. This is because the conservative variables in phasedensity equations include volume fractions. The degeneracy can be avoided by adding an artificial quantity of another material into the pure phase. However, nonphysical waves,such as shear waves in fluids, are introduced by the artificial treatment. In this paper,a transport diffuse interface model, which is able to treat zero/unity volume fractions, is presented for solid-fluid interaction. In the proposed model, a new formulation for phase densities is derived, which is unrelated to volume fractions. Consequently, the new model is able to handle zero/unity volume fractions, and nonphysical waves caused by artificial volume fractions are prevented. One-dimensional and two-dimensional numerical tests demonstrate that more accurate results can be obtained by the proposed model.

Classification of quantum phases is one of the most important areas of research in condensed matter *** this work,we obtain the phase diagram of one-dimensional quasiperiodic models via unsupervised ***,we choose two advanced unsupervised learning algorithms,namely,density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise(DBSCAN)and ordering points to identify the clustering structure(OPTICS),to explore the distinct phases of the Aubry–André–Harper model and the quasiperiodic p-wave *** unsupervised learning results match well with those obtained through traditional numerical ***,we assess similarity across different algorithms and find that the highest degree of similarity between the results of unsupervised learning algorithms and those of traditional algorithms exceeds 98%.Our work sheds light on applications of unsupervised learning for phase classification.

A new flux-based hybrid subcell-remapping algorithm for staggered multimaterial arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (MMALE) methods is presented. This new method is an effective generalization of the original subcell-remapping method to the multi-material regime (LOUBERE, R. and SHASHKOV,M. A subcell remapping method on staggered polygonal grids for arbitrary-Lagrangian-Eulerian methods. Journal of Computational Physics, 209, 105–138 (2005)). A complete remapping procedure of all fluid quantities is described detailedly in this paper. In the pure material regions, remapping of mass and internal energy is performed by using the original subcell-remapping method. In the regions near the material interfaces, remapping of mass and internal energy is performed with the intersection-based fluxes where intersections are performed between the swept regions and pure material polygons in the Lagrangian mesh, and an approximate approach is then introduced for constructing the subcell mass fluxes. In remapping of the subcell momentum, the mass fluxes are used to construct the momentum fluxes by multiplying a reconstructed velocity in the swept region. The nodal velocity is then conservatively recovered. Some numerical examples simulated in the full MMALE regime and several purely cyclic remapping examples are presented to prove the properties of the remapping method.

Floral color and scent are crucial for plant–environment interactions, especially in reproduction by attracting pollinators for fertilization. They also have wide applications in cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and nutraceutical industries. Plant pigments are typically classified as chlorophylls, flavonoids, carotenoids, and betalains, while volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are grouped as terpenes, phenylpropanoids/benzenoids, and fatty acid derivatives. Significant progresses have been made in understanding the biosynthesis and regulation of these floral pigments and VOCs. Despite differences in their biosynthetic pathways, floral pigments and VOCs are biochemically connected and exhibit synergistic interactions during flower development and in response to biotic and abiotic stresses, suggesting the existence of pleiotropic regulators or complex mechanisms co-regulating their biosynthesis. In this review, we summarize and outline the metabolite pathways mainly integrating flavonoids, carotenoids, terpenes, and phenylpropanoids/benzenoids. We also provide a series of scenarios illustrating the coordinated regulation of floral color and scent. Finally, we suggest areas for future research. We hope this review will spark interest in this research direction and stimulate further studies. © 2024 Chinese Society for Horticultural Science (CSHS) and institute of Vegetables and Flowers (IVF), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS).

We study the growth of epitaxial thin films on pre-patterned substrates that influence the surface diffusion of subsequently deposited material using a kinetic Monte Carlo algorithm that combines the use of inverted lists with *** resulting algorithm is well adapted to systems with spatially heterogeneous hopping *** evaluate the algorithm’s performance we compare it with an efficient,binary-tree based algorithm.A key finding is that the relative performance of the inverted list algorithm improves with increasing system size.
