Objective:To explore the meaning of care experienced by people with blindness in ***:Interpretive phenomenology along with the 6-step method of van Manen was used to conduct the *** purposeful sampling,15 people with legal blindness were *** analysis was used to isolate the meaning of ***:Five themes emerged:(a)nurses in the eyes of patients with blindness;(b)negligence in the caring moments;(c)being cared for in ambiguity;(d)Uncoordinated care;and(e)psychological discomfor *** sub-themes were condensed into an overarching theme titled as“marginalized patients inside the stereotypical healthcare system.”Conclusions:Lived experiences of patients with blindness revealed that hospitals provide stereotypic or inappropriate care for this minority group in *** professionals par ticularly nurses should be skilled to provide person-centered and coordinated care for patients with blindness.

Emerging research suggests a potential association of progression of Alzheimer's disease(AD)with alterations in synaptic currents and mitochondrial ***,the specific associations between these pathological changes remain *** this study,we utilized Aβ42-induced AD rats and primary neural cells as in vivo and in vitro *** investigations included behavioural tests,brain magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(UPLC-MS/MS)analysis,Nissl staining,thioflavin-S staining,enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay,Golgi-Cox staining,transmission electron microscopy(TEM),immunofluorescence staining,proteomics,adenosine triphosphate(ATP)detection,mitochondrial membrane potential(MMP)and reactive oxygen species(ROS)assessment,mitochondrial morphology analysis,electrophysiological studies,Western blotting,and molecular *** results revealed changes in synaptic currents,mitophagy,and mitochondrial dynamics in the AD ***,intervention with Dengzhan Shengmai(DZSM)capsules emerged as a pivotal element in this investigation.Aβ42-induced synaptic dysfunction was significantly mitigated by DZSM intervention,which notably amplified the frequency and amplitude of synaptic *** cognitive impairment observed in AD rats was ameliorated and accompanied by robust protection against structural damage in key brain regions,including the hippocampal CA3,primary cingular cortex,prelimbic system,and dysgranular insular *** intervention led to increased IDE levels,augmented long-term potential(LTP)amplitude,and enhanced dendritic spine density and ***,DZSM intervention led to favourable changes in mitochondrial parameters,including ROS expression,MMP and ATP contents,and mitochondrial *** conclusion,our findings delved into the realm of altered synaptic currents,mitophagy,and mitochondrial dynamics in AD,concurrently highlighting the therapeutic potential of DZSM intervention.

Palynological evidence for vegetational and climatic changes from the HQ deep drilling core in Yunnan Province, China

The high-resolution pollen study of a 737.72-m-long lake sediment core in the Heqing Basin of Yunnan Province shows that the vegetation and climate of mountains around the Heqing Basin went through six obvious changes since 2.780 Ma B.P. Namely, Pinus forest occupied most mountains around the studied area and the structure of vertical vegetational belt was simple between 2.780 and 2.729 Ma B.P., reflecting a relatively warm and dry climate. During 2.729―2.608 Ma B.P., the areas of cold-temperate conifer forest (CTCF) and Tsuga forest increased and the structure of vertical vegetational belt became clear. According to percentages of tropical and subtropical elements growing in low-altitude regions rifely increased, we speculate that the increase of CTCF and Tsuga forest areas mainly resulted from strong uplift of mountains which provided upward expanding space and growing condition for these plants. Thus, the climate of the low-altitude regions around the basin was relatively warm and humid. Between 2.608 and 1.553 Ma B.P., Pinus forest occupied most mountains around the studied area and forest line of CTCF rose, which reflects a moderately warm-dry climate on the whole. During 1.553―0.876 Ma B.P., the structure of vertical vegetational belt in mountains around the studied area became complicated and the amplitude of vegetational belts shifting up and down enlarged, which implies that the amplitude of climatic change increased, the climatic associational feature was more complex and the climate was moderately cold at a majority of the stage. During 0.876―0.252 Ma B.P., there were all vertical vegetational belts existing at present in mountains around the studied area. The elements of each belt were more abundant and complex than earlier. At different periods in the stage vertical vegetational belts occurred as expanding or shrinking, and alternated each other. Mastitis often occurs during women’s lactation period， causing great psychological and physical pain to women. Fucoidan， a sulfated polysaccharide obtained from brown algae， has much broader biological properties. However， the roles of fucoidan in lipopolysaccharides (LPS)-induced mastitis are still undiscovered. The present study was aimed to evaluate the influences of fucoidan on LPS-induced mouse mastitis and investigate its possible mechanisms. The expression profiles of fucoidan acting on mastitis were analyzed by Network pharmacology. Additionally， mechanism experiments verified the mechanism of fucoidan on mastitis. The results of in vivo study displayed that the treatment of fucoidan to LPS-stimulated mouse mastitis decreased the inflammatory damage， proinflammatory cytokines level and repaired the completeness of blood-milk barrier. In the study of mouse mammary epithelial cells， fucoidan suppressed the secretion of reactive oxygen species (ROS)and enhanced the activity of antioxidant enzymes. Molecular experiments suggested that fucoidan promoted Nrf2 nuclear import and autophagy via activating the AMPK signaling pathway. The above results indicated that in mastitis， fucoidan promoted Nrf2 nuclear import and autophagy via activating the AMPK signaling pathway， thereby suppressing oxidative stress and inflammatory injury to the mammary glands and protecting the blood-milk barrier.

One of the hallmarks of human society is the ubiquitous interactions among ***,a significant portion of human daily routine decision making is socially *** economic theory,namely game theory,has prescribed the canonical decision strategy when"rational"social agents have full information about the decision *** reality,however,social decision is often influenced by the trait and state parameters of selves and ***,understanding the cognitive and neural processes of inferring the decision parameters is pivotal for social decision ***,both correlational and causal non-invasive neuroimaging studies have started to reveal the critical neural computations underlying social learning and decision-making,and highlighted the unique roles of"social"brain structures such as temporal-parietal junction(TPJ)and dorsomedial prefrontal cortex(dmPFC).Here we review recent advances in social decision neuroscience and maintain the focus on how the inference about others is dynamically acquired during social learning,as well as how the prosocial(altruistic)behavior results from orchestrated interactions of different brain regions specified under the social utility *** conclude by emphasizing the importance of combining computational decision theory with the identification of neural mechanisms that represent,evaluate and integrate value related social information and generate decision variables guiding behavioral output in the complex social environment.

Dear Editor,When two stimuli such as a tone and a visual stimulus are repeatedly presented together,individuals diagnosed with hallucinations tend to report hearing the tone subsequently in response to the visual stimulus alone [1].Such conditioned hallucinations involved evoked sensory representations as evidenced by increased neural activation in tone-responsive brain regions during the conditioned *** and other observations underscore the importance of prior associative experiences in driving hallucinatory perception,and reflect new efforts to conceptualize and understand psychosis from a cognitive perspective.

Metacognition has been divided into information monitoring and control processes. Monitoring involves knowing that you know or do not know some information without taking corrective action. Control involves taking corrective action based on the knowledge that you know or do not know some information. In comparative metacognition, considerable attention has been paid toward critically assessing putative evidence for information monitoring in non-human animals. However, less attention has been paid toward critically evaluating evidence for control processes in animals. We briefly review a critique of information-monitoring in animals. Next, we apply these concepts to a number of studies that focus on information seeking in animals. The main type of evidence for control processes in animals come from tube tipping experiments. Before having the opportunity to search for the bait in these experiments, the subject sometimes observes opaque tubes being baited but is sometimes prevented from seeing the baiting. The observations that the subjects look more if baiting was not seen and are more accurate if baiting was seen have been taken as evidence for metacognition in information-seeking experiments. We propose simple alternative hypotheses that are sufficient to explain putative evidence for information seeking in animals without positing metacognition. The alternative explanation focuses on two relatively simple principles： First, an animal has a default ＂look before you go＂ response which supersedes random searches in space. Second, spatially guided behavior follows a default rule of ＂go where something good is.＂ These principles can explain the results of tube tipping experiments without proposing metacognition [Current Zoology 57 （4）： 531-542, 2011].
