The non-stationary and spatially varying associations between hand,foot and mouth disease and multiple environmental factors:A Bayesian spatiotemporal mapping model study

The transmission and prevalence of Hand,Foot and Mouth Disease(HFMD)are affected by a variety of natural and socio-economic environmental *** study aims to quantitatively investigate the non-stationary and spatially varying associations between various environmental factors and HFMD *** collected HFMD surveillance cases and a series of relevant environmental data from 2013 to 2021 in Xi'an,Northwest *** controlling the spatial and temporal mixture effects of HFMD,we constructed a Bayesian spatiotemporal mapping model and characterized the impacts of different driving factors into global linear,non-stationary and spatially varying *** results showed that the impact of meteorological conditions on HFMD risk varies in both type and magnitude above certain thresholds(temperature:30°C,precipitation:70 mm,solar radiation:13000 kJ/m^(2),pressure:945 hPa,humidity:69%).Air pollutants(PM_(2.5),PM_(10),NO_(2))showed an inverted U-shaped relationship with the risk of HFMD,while other air pollutants(O_(3),SO_(2))showed nonlinear ***,the driving effect of increasing temperature on HFMD was significant in the 3-year period,while the inhibitory effect of increasing precipitation appeared evident in the 5-year *** addition,the proportion of urban/suburban/rural area had a strong influence on HFMD,indicating that the incidence of HFMD firstly increased and then decreased during the rapid urbanization *** influence of population density on HFMD was not only limited by spatial location,but also varied between high and low *** road density inhibited the risk of HFMD,but higher night light index promoted the occurrence of *** findings further demonstrated that both ecological and socioeconomic environmental factors can pose multiple driving effects on increasing the spatiotemporal risk of HFMD,which is of great significance for effectively responding to the changes in HFMD epidemic outbreaks.

Introduction:A retrospective study based on sentinel surveillance was conducted in 10 provinciallevel administrative divisions(PLADs)in China to enhance the understanding of the epidemiological characteristics of human parainfluenza viruses(HPIVs).Methods:From January 2019 to June 2023,respiratory specimens were collected from individuals with acute respiratory infections(ARIs)and screened for four HPIVs serotypes and other common respiratory viruses using multiplex real-time polymerase chain reaction(PCR).This study analyzed the association of HPIVs infections with seasonal patterns,geographical distribution,demographic profiles,clinical features,and co-infection ***:During the study period,a total of 12,866 ARIs were *** overall detection rate of HPIVs was 6.15%,varying from 5.04%in 2022 to 9.70%in *** median age of HPIVs-infected patients was 3 ***2 was more prevalent among individuals aged 5–17 years(42.57%),while HPIV4 was more common in those over 65 years(12.24%).HPIV3(54.16%)and HPIV1(27.18%)were the predominant serotypes,and their prevalence exhibited significant seasonal fluctuations postcoronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)*** peak of HPIV3 shifted three months later in 2020 compared to 2019 and returned to a summer peak *** peaks of HPIV1 were observed in 2021 following the peak of ***,coinfections were frequent in HPIVs cases(overall rate:22.12%),with human rhinovirus being the most common co-infecting ***:The prevalence of HPIVs in China was predominantly due to HPIV3 and HPIV1,and their seasonal patterns were altered by pandemic ***,continuous surveillance of HPIVs is essential.

Objective Viral encephalitis is an infectious disease severely affecting human *** is caused by a wide variety of viral pathogens,including herpes viruses,flaviviruses,enteroviruses,and other *** laboratory diagnosis of viral encephalitis is a worldwide ***,high-throughput sequencing technology has provided new tools for diagnosing central nervous system ***,In this study,we established a multipathogen detection platform for viral encephalitis based on amplicon *** We designed nine pairs of specific polymerase chain reaction(PCR)primers for the 12 viruses by reviewing the relevant *** detection ability of the primers was verified by software simulation and the detection of known positive *** sequencing was used to validate the samples,and consistency was compared with Sanger *** The results showed that the target sequences of various pathogens were obtained at a coverage depth level greater than 20×,and the sequence lengths were consistent with the sizes of the predicted *** sequences were verified using the National Center for Biotechnology Information BLAST,and all results were consistent with the results of Sanger *** Amplicon-based high-throughput sequencing technology is feasible as a supplementary method for the pathogenic detection of viral *** is also a useful tool for the high-volume screening of clinical samples.

Application of wastewater-based epidemiological monitoring of COVID-19 for disease surveillance in the city
