Effects of different regional cerebral blood flow on white matter hyperintensity in CADASIL patients

Cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy(CADASIL)is an early-onset inherited small vessel *** cerebral blood flow(CBF)may contribute to white matter hyperintensity(WMH)severity in CADASIL,but more evidence is needed to support this *** study comprised six patients with CADASIL who harbored mutations in the coding sequence of NOTCH3 and twelve age-matched neurologically healthy *** collected clinical and imaging data from patients with CADASIL and divided the brain into four regions:WMH,normal-appearing white matter(NAWM),gray matter(GM),and global *** analyzed the relationship between CBF of each region and the WMH *** with the control group,CBF was significantly decreased in all four regions in the CADASIL *** CBF in these regions was correlated with higher WMH volume in *** in the NAWM,GM and global regions was positively correlated with that in WMH ***,after correction tests,only CBF in the WMH region but not in NAWM,GM and global regions was associated with WMH *** findings suggest that CBF in the WMH region is an influencing factor of the WMH severity in CADASIL.

Degradation of the antibiotic sulfamonomethoxine sodium in aqueous solution by photo-Fenton oxidation

In this study, photo-Fenton oxidation was applied to degradation of sulfamonomethoxine sodium (SMMS) in aqueous solution. The operation parameters of pH, temperature, and concentrations of H2O2, Fe2+ and SMMS were investigated. The optimum conditions for the photo-Fenton process were determined as follows: [SMMS]=4.53 mg/L, pH 4.0, [H2O2]=0.49 mmol/L, [Fe2+]= 19.51 μmol/L and T=25°C. Under these conditions 98.5% of the SMMS degraded. The kinetics were also studied, and degradation of SMMS by the photo-Fenton process could be described by first-order kinetics. The apparent activation energy was calculated as 23.95 kJ/mol. Mineralization of the process was investigated by measuring the chemical oxygen demand (COD), and the COD decreased by 99% after 120 min. This process could be used as a pretreatment method for wastewater containing sulfamonomethoxine sodium.

Reduced expression of circulating microRNA-218 in gastric cancer and correlation with tumor invasion and prognosis

AIM:To investigate the expression of microRNA-218(miR-218)in serum from gastric cancer patients and its relationship with clinicopathological ***:A total of 68 patients with pathologically diagnosed gastric cancer and 56 healthy individuals were recruited to this *** expression of miR-218was detected in the serum of gastric cancer patients and healthy individuals by quantitative real-time polymerase chain *** clinical data were collectedand analyzed by statistical ***:miR-218 was reduced significantly in the serum of gastric cancer patients compared to healthy individuals(1.15±0.08 vs 0.37±0.023;P=0.026).In the gastric cancer group,serum expression of miR-218was lower in patients with metastasis and poorly differentiated cancer compared with non-metastatic and well-differentiated cancer(0.19±0.011 vs 0.45±0.021,P=0.031 and 0.21±0.019 vs 0.49±0.021,P=0.025).Serum miR-218 was found to be significantly associated with gastric cancer metastasis(P=0.003),tumor T stage(P=0.018)and tumor grade(P=0.012).Low serum expression of miR-218 was related to an increase in the stage of gastric *** expression level of miR-218 in the serum was correlated with the3-year ***-seven percent of patients with a high level of miR-218 expression survived for 3 years,while only 54%of those with low miR-218 expression ***:miR-218 is deregulated in gastric cancer patients and is strongly correlated with tumor stage,grade and *** expression of miR-218 may be a prognostic marker.

Pricking and penetrating moxibustion therapy in patients with refractory insomnia: a randomized and controlled clinical trial

OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical effect of pricking and penetrating moxibustion therapy on refractory ***: Totally 60 subjects were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, 30 in each group. The treatment group was treated with pricking and penetrating moxibustion therapy, the control group with penetrating moxibustion therapy, the treatment was given once every day, two groups of patients were treated 20 times,compared the efficacy, pinsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI) and Traditional Chinese Medicine symptom, safety evaluation between the two ***: Compared with 10, 20 times after the treatment, the effective rate of the treatment group(93.3%) higher than that of the control group(80.0%)(P < 0.05); Compared with beforetreatment, 20 times after treatment, the PSQI and TCM symptom pattern scores of the two groups were significantly decreased(P < 0.01); Compared with 10, 20 times after the treatment, the treatment group are better than the control group in improving the total score and the integral of PSQI(P <0.05 or P < 0.01); The treatment group are better than the control group in improving the TCM symptom pattern score, difficulty in going to sleep, palpitation, amnesia, fidget, sweating, impaired concentration(P < 0.01 or P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: The pricking and penetrating moxibustion therapy is safe and effective in the treatment of refractory insomnia and the treatment can improve the curative effect of the therapy that uses penetrating moxibustion only.

Development and Validation of A Patient Reported Outcome Instrument for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases

Objective： To develop and validate a specific patient reported outcome （PRO） for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease （COPD） patients （COPD-PRO） at a set of standardized procedures. Methods： Literature analysis, interview and group discussion were performed to draft an initial model of COPD-PRO. Thereafter, 65 clinicians and experts throughout China reviewed the draft scale, Then cognitive debriefing interviews with 40 patients were conducted to assess respondent comprehension of the scale. After that, the revised scale was validated through pre-testing and field-testing. Finally, the psychometric properties of the COPD-PRO were evaluated by indicators such as validity, reliability and responsiveness based on the data from 230 patients. Results： The COPD-PRO contained 17 items in 3 domains： amelioration of clinical symptoms, satisfaction of health condition and satisfaction of treatment effect. The Cronbach＇s ~, Split-half coefficient and test-retest coefficient were 0.806, 0.744, 0.703, respectively; the correlation coefficients between domains and overall scale were 0.835-0.963; 5 factors were extracted according to the conceptual model. The differences of the scale scores before and after treatment were statistically significant （P=0.000）. Conclusions： The COPD- PRO has good validity, reliability and responsiveness. The COPD-PRO could provide patients＇ response to the treatments and then evaluate the effect of treatment in a standardized way.

A Data Mining-Based Study on Medication Rules of Chinese Herbs to Treat Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction

Objective:To summarize the medication rules of Chinese herbs to treat heart failure with preserved ejection fraction(HFPEF)based on data mining and to provide references for clinical ***:The China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Wanfang database(Wanfang),VIP database(VIP),Chinese Biomedical Literature(CBM),PubMed,Embase,and Cochrane Library databases were searched from inception to October 2021 to identify relevant literature on treating HFPEF with Chinese *** Excel 2019 was used to set up a database,and then,association rule analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis were performed by using apriori algorithm and hclust function respectively in R-Studio(Version 4.0.3).Results:A total of 182 qualified papers were included,involving a total of 92 prescriptions,130 Chinese herbs,and 872 individual herbs prescribed,with an average of 9.5 herbs per *** six most frequently prescribed herbs were Astragali Radix(Huangqi),Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix Et Rhizoma(Danshen),Poria(Fuling),Glycyrrhizae Radix Et Rhizoma(Gancao),Cinnamomi Ramulus(Guizhi),and Ginseng Radix Et Rhizoma(Renshen).There were 35 herbs used more than 5 times,involving 11 efficacy *** top three categories were deficiency-tonifying herbs,blood-activating and stasis-removing herbs,and dampnessdraining diuretic *** most commonly used herbs were mainly warm and *** primary meridian tropisms were Lung Meridian,Heart Meridian and Spleen *** rule analysis yielded 26 association rules,such as Astragali Radix(Huangqi)&Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix Et Rhizoma(Danshen),Poria(Fuling),Cinnamomi Ramulus(Guizhi)&Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma(Baizhu).Hierarchical cluster analysis yielded four herb classes,and their functions were mainly qi-replenishing and yang-warming,bloodactivating and ***:HFPEF is the syndrome of root vacuity and tip repletion,and its core pathogenesis is"deficiency","stasis",and"wafer",w

Mesenchymal stem cell(MSC)transplantation is a promising treatment strategy for spinal cord injury,but immunological rejection and possible tumor formation limit its *** therapeutic effects of MSCs mainly depend on their release of soluble paracrine *** are essential for the secretion of these paracrine *** marrow mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes(BMSC-EXOs)can be substituted for BMSCs in cell ***,the underlying mechanisms remain *** this study,a rat model of T10 spinal cord injury was established using the impact ***,30 minutes and 1 day after spinal cord injury,the rats were administered 200μL exosomes via the tail vein(200μg/mL;approximately 1×106 BMSCs).Treatment with BMSC-EXOs greatly reduced neuronal cell death,improved myelin arrangement and reduced myelin loss,increased pericyte/endothelial cell coverage on the vascular wall,decreased bloodspinal cord barrier leakage,reduced caspase 1 expression,inhibited interleukin-1βrelease,and accelerated locomotor functional recovery in rats with spinal cord *** the cell culture experiment,pericytes were treated with interferon-γand tumor necrosis factor-α.Then,Lipofectamine 3000 was used to deliver lipopolysaccharide into the cells,and the cells were co-incubated with adenosine triphosphate to simulate injury in ***-treatment with BMSC-EXOs for 8 hours greatly reduced pericyte pyroptosis and increased pericyte survival *** findings suggest that BMSC-EXOs may protect pericytes by inhibiting pyroptosis and by improving blood-spinal cord barrier integrity,thereby promoting the survival of neurons and the extension of nerve fibers,and ultimately improving motor function in rats with spinal cord *** protocols were conducted with the approval of the Animal Ethics Committee of Zhengzhou university on March 16,2019.
