Congenital Vaginal Atresia:A Report of 39 Cases in a Regional obstetrics and gynecology hospital

To investigate the clinical course and management of congenital vaginal atresia. This retrospective analysis included patients with congenital vaginal atresia treated from March 2004 to August 2014 at the obstetrics and gynecology hospital of Fudan University. Thirty-nine patients were included in this study. Their average age was 16.87±2.2 years when they came to our hospital. Totally, 51% of the patients had isolated congenital vaginal atresia with a normal cervix, whereas the others had either cervical atresia or imperforate hymen. The primary presenting signs and symptoms included primary amenorrhea（71.8%）, periodic abdominalgia（41.0%）, abdominal pain（36.0%）, dyspareunia（10.3%）, menstrual disorders（5.1%）, and pelvic mass（5.1%）. Ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging（MRI） were effective inspection methods for the screening of urogenital tract-associated anomalies. Vaginoplasty mainly included simple vagina reconstruction with insertion of a mold（n=22） and split-thickness skin grafting（n=4）. In 64% of surgical patients, normal menstrual bleeding was achieved. Four of the patients subsequently became pregnant and delivered at term. Primary amenorrhea, periodic abdominalgia and abdominal pain are the main reasons for the post pubertal patients to visit doctors. Surgical methods can successfully provide these patients an opportunity for subsequent conservative management, can result in normal menstrual bleeding, resolve cyclic pelvic pain, and provide some potential for fertility.

Introduction: Obesity and pregnancy is a major public health problem worldwide, both maternal and fetal. Objective: This is to describe the epidemiological and prognostic aspects of obesity and pregnancy in the gynecology-obstetrics department at the Sylvanus Olympio University hospital Center (CHU SO) in Lomé. Methodology: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study concerning obesed pregnant women. The survey was conducted from the 1st to the 30th of June 2022 at the CHU SO. Results: We enrolled 55 obese pregnant women. The frequency of obesity and pregnancy was 5.14%. Resellers were represented at 41.8%. The average age was 31 years old. As risk factors, 85.5% claimed to have a fatty diet and 76% did not practice sports. The gestational pathologies found during pregnancy were hypertension in 47.4% of cases, preeclampsia in 24.6% and gestational diabetes in 7%. Caesarean section was the way of delivery in 63.6% of cases and those who gave birth vaginally presented a tear of the soft tissues in 85% of cases. Birth weight was abnormal (low weight and excess weight) in 61.8% of cases. Conclusion: The association between obesity and pregnancy constitutes an important risk factor for the mother and the fetus.

Gynecological and Obstetrical Emergencies at the University Clinic of gynecology-obstetrics of the National hospital Donka Guinea

Gynecological and obstetrical emergencies are found all over the world, especially in developing countries where women pay a heavy price for giving birth. They can occur at any time during pregnancy and outside of pregnancy often in a socio-economic context. The objectives of this study were to describe the sociodemographic characteristics and the maternal and fetal prognosis of gynecological and obstetric emergencies. Patients and Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study with prospective data collection, conducted at the University Clinic of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the Donka National Hospital between June 1 and September 30, 2015. It involved all patients admitted to our department in emergency for a gynecological or obstetrical complaint. Results: We collected 361 cases of gynecological and obstetrical emergencies out of a total of 1779 consultations, i.e. a frequency of 20.29%. Obstetrical emergencies were predominant with 91.41% and gynecological emergencies represented 8.59%. The average age of patients was 29.5 with extremes of 14 and 47. Nulliparous women were the most numerous (34.35%). More than half of the patients did not attend school (52.08%) and 56.70% were evacuees. Abdominopelvic pain and hemorrhage were the main reasons for consultation (54.29% and 49.58%). Admission diagnoses were dominated by acute fetal distress and hemorrhage in the last quarter of pregnancy (52.3% and 36.01%). The caesarean section rate was high (82.12%). Objective:To assess the efficacy and safety of Sanjie Analgesic Capsule(SAC)in Chinese patients with endometriosis-associated ***:This was a multicenter,randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled trial conducted at 15 centers between November 2013 and July 2017 in *** 323 patients with endometriosis were randomized at a 3:1 ratio to the SAC group(241 cases)and placebo group(82 cases)by stratified block *** in the SAC or placebo groups were given SAC or placebo 1.6 g 3 times per day,orally,respectively since the first day of menstruation for 3 consecutive menstrual *** primary endpoint was clinical response to dysmenorrhea evaluated using a 10-point Visual Analogue Scale at 3 and 6 *** secondary endpoint was the pain score evaluated by VAS(chronic pelvic pain,defecation pain,and dyspareunia)at 3 and 6 months,and the pain recurrence rate at 6 *** events(AEs)were recorded during the ***:A total of 241 women were included in the SAC group,and 82 were in the placebo *** these women,217(90.0%)and 71(86.6%)completed the intervention,*** 3 months,overall response rate(ORR)was significantly higher in women administered SAC(80.1%)compared with those who received a placebo(30.5%,P<0.01).Six months after treatment,the ORR for dysmenorrhea was 62.7%in the SAC group and 31.7%in the placebo group(P<0.01).Chronic pelvic pain and defecation pain were significantly improved by SAC compared with placebo(both P<0.05).The incidence rates of total AEs events in the SAC and placebo groups were 6.6%and 9.8%,respectively,and no significant difference was shown between the two groups(P=0.339).Conclusion:SAC is well-tolerated and may improve dysmenorrhea in women with endometriosis-associated pain.

Objective: The objective of our study was to study the surgical activities carried out in the gynecology-obstetrics department of the CHU-YO (Teaching hospital Yalgado Ouédraogo) from January 1st 2015 to December 31st, 2015. Patients and Methods: This dealt with a cross-cutting descriptive and analytic study with retrospective data collection. Our study has included the female patients who underwent surgery in the operating room and whose medical records were usable. Results: 45% of female patients admitted in the concerned department underwent a surgery. The average age of patients was estimated at 28.02 years ±7 years with extremes of 13 years and 80 years. Obstetrical surgery has involved 89.9% of cases. Female patients have received a loco-regional anesthesia in 92.7% of cases. Emergency surgical operations accounted for 88.8% and caesarean section was the main surgical operation carried out in 87.1% of cases. The mortality rate of the overall surgical operations was 1.04%. Conclusion: A better availability of labile blood products is more likely to reduce the mortality rate of surgical operations under the threshold of 1%.

ERβ-activated LINC01018 promotes endometriosis development by regulating the CDC25C/CDK1/CyclinB1 pathway

Tubal ligation is a surgical sterilization procedure that provides permanent and reliable contraception to women.?Tubal obstruction is a method of permanent birth control that can be performed after mini-laparotomy under local anesthesia. Objective:?To determine the outcome of tubal sterilizations by mini-laparotomy under local anesthesia performed in clients who underwent the surgical operation in the Maternity Ward of Ignace Deen National hospital. Patients and Methods:?The gynecology and obstetrics Department of Ignace Deen National hospital was used as the place for the study. The study involved all the women seeking voluntary surgical contraception. This was a retrospective study of a descriptive type carried out from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2018. A consent form was filled out and signed by spouses after an interview and a systematically carried out pre-operative clinical and para-clinical assessment. Results:?During the study period, 56 tubal ligations were performed i.e. 4.72 percent of all family planning methods. The recruiting for the surgical contraception involved clients whose typical profile is that of women with an average age of 35, mostly housewives (35.71%), major multiparous (69.63%) with 6 living children on average. Married women made up the bulk of the recruiting i.e. 96.44%. Unmarried women made much more use of other methods. Indications of personal convenience were the most frequently encountered common reason. Among medical causes, high blood?pressure concerned the majority of cases: 38% of the indications. Surgical contraception in between was more practiced than the post-partum one. The recorded complication was the parietal hematoma due to a lack of hemostasis and it accounted for 1.79% of cases. The progress was uncomplicated in?98.68% of cases. Forty couples (71.42%) expressed their feelings of satisfaction against only 6 cases of regret (10.71%). LncRNA PCGEM1 facilitates cervical cancer progression via miR-642a-5p/KIF5B axis
