The stalemated decolonization process in Africa’s last colony,Western Sahara,was investigated in its historical *** the critical-analytic methodology of contemporary history and examining available sources on the subject,the paper posits the Saharawi right to self-determination and independence,within the framework of the UN Charter as a non-self-governing territory which is not in *** concludes that the stalemate is Morocco’s contrivance to further its dream of a“Greater Morocco”,and that the reactivation of Saharawi armed struggle,complemented with diplomatic efforts under the strategic leadership of the African Union,would present the United Nations with a choice between Africa and Morocco,and reinvest the world body with the political will for its early resolution.

In the Western world, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is considered as one of the most significant liver diseases of the twenty-first century. Its development is certainly driven by environmental factors, but it is also regulated by genetic background. The role of heritability has been widely demonstratedby several epidemiological, familial, and twin studies and case series, and likely reflects the wide interindividual and inter-ethnic genetic variability in systemic metabolism and wound healing response processes. Consistent with this idea, genome-wide association studies have clearly identified Patatin-like phosholipase domain-containing 3 gene variant I148 M as a major player in the development and progression of NAFLD. More recently, the transmembrane 6 superfamily member 2 E167 K variant emerged as a relevant contributor in both NAFLD pathogenesis and cardiovascular outcomes. Furthermore, numerous casecontrol studies have been performed to elucidate the potential role of candidate genes in the pathogenesis and progression of fatty liver, although findings are sometimes contradictory. Accordingly, we performed a comprehensive literature search and review on the role of genetics in NAFLD. We emphasize the strengths and weaknesses of the available literature and outline the putative role of each genetic variant in influencing susceptibility and/or progression of the disease.

Sharing economy delivers structural impact on traditional theories of social sciences. To a certain extent, it subverts the classic issues of “invisible hand,”“society must be defended,”“free-rider problem” and “big government vs. small government” in traditional Western theories of economics, public administration and sociology. Under such circumstances, it is imperative to examine this theoretical innovation from the perspective of paradigm revolution. The Chinese economy(the Internet-enabled sharing economy in particular) is a revolutionary innovation of great significance in world history. China should take this “sharing” tide as an opportunity to promote digital China construction and industrial restructuring and create a new landscape for the construction of a socio-cultural system, a new national regulatory system and a modern governance system. This will help develop a China-led theoretical system of social sciences and essentially support the building of a new world order and a global discourse system.

Inland waters are highly vulnerable to the introduction and spread of non-native species,due to heavy human use of aquatic ecosystems and the natural linkages among streams and *** is particularly noticeable in freshwater fish *** better evaluate how these communities are affected by non-native species introductions,we conducted a fine-scale analysis of the changes in Italian freshwater fish assemblages after species *** this analysis,we collected information on fish species present in 44 *** present Italian freshwater fish fauna is composed of 48 native and 41 established introduced species,while a further 15 introduced species have been reported but are not yet considered *** changes in the fish assemblages mostly took place in the past 2 centuries and have increased recently,with nearly 60%of the species introduced in the past 3 *** number of species introduced per basin ranged from 0 to 35(mean 10.85±7.77 species/basin),and in 10 basins the number of species introduced is now equal to or even higher than the number of native *** the past,introduced species mainly originated from America,but over the past three decades,an increase of introductions from other parts of Europe and Asia has been *** results show that basins already rich in native species tend to become even richer as a consequence of the establishment of introduced *** confirms the trend toward a biotic homogenization of ecosystems even at a local scale,due to an increase in the human-mediated spread of generalist species.

The Early Cretaceous terrestrial revolution involved global shifts from gymnosperm-to angiosperm-dominated ***,responses of insect herbivores to these changes remain *** evaluated 2176 highly sampled plant specimens representing 62 species/morphotypes from the 126 Ma Dawangzhangzi plant assemblage of Northeastern *** study consisted of horsetails,ferns,ginkgoaleans,czekanowskialeans,conifers,and an *** herbivory was evaluated by the functional feeding groups of hole feeding,margin feeding,and surface feeding(ectophytic feeders);piercer and suckers,and ovipositing insects(ectoendophytic feeders);mining,galling,and borings(endophytic feeders);and pathogens,collectively constituting 65 damage types(DTs).The plant assemblage was assessed for herbivory richness by DT richness,component community structure,and DT specialization on plant hosts;for herbivory intensity,it was evaluated for DT frequency,herbivorized surface area,and feeding event *** feeding event occurrences,the data supported seven species/morphotypes as most intensely herbivorized:Liaoningocladus boii(76.6%),Czekanowskia sp.1(8.4%),Czekanowskia rigida(4.10%),Lindleycladus lanceolatus(3.5%),Ginkgoites sp.2(2.0%),Podozamites sp.1(1.1%),and Solenites sp.1(0.9%).The most herbivorized taxa were pinaleans(conifers),then czekanowskialeans,and lastly ginkgoaleans;the monodominant component community was the conifer Liaoningocladus *** host specialization levels were *** plant assemblage had an overall low 0.86%of foliage removed by herbivores,explained by physical and chemical antiherbivore defenses,and parasitoid *** Paleozoic,gymnosperm-dominated assemblages had greater herbivory,component community structure of the three most herbivorized taxa are more similar to modern bracken fern and willow than modern gymnosperm taxa.

The Philippines is listed as one of the world's megadiverse countries despite its small ***,it is also on the list of global biodiversity conservation *** the threat of extinction at an all-time high,better understa nding of the archipelago's biodiversity will provide invalua ble baseline information for proper conservation *** we provide an upda ted checklist on the herpetological biodiversity of Ca miguin Sur,Misa mis Oriental,Minda nao,*** surveys and specimen collection from the municipality of Mambajao resulted in a total of 28 species(13 anurans,11 lizards,and four snakes)-all well represented by voucher *** data provides seven additional species records,upda ting the island's total amphibian and reptile species count to 57,with about half Philippine *** in the new records are three invasive alien species of amphibians:The Cane Toad Rhinella marina,the Greenhouse Frog Eleutherodatylus planirstris,and the Asiatic Painted Narrowmouth Toad Kaloula pulchra.

A new type of vortex structure-binucleus-type vortex structure-is presented in this paper. It is charac-terized by two nuclear columns which distinguish it from uninuclcus-type vorlex structure. The vortical sur-faces of the structure are commonly s-shaped and reversed s-shaped and subordinately of clliptic andhyperbolic shape. and sometimes turbine-like surfaces are observed. On the basis of field structural studies. a mechanical model of rotation around a binuclear column ofcrustal materials is presented in the paper. Burgers viscoelastic solutions of the stress field and deformationfield of this structural type have been obtained using the principle and method of rheology. and simulation ex-periments have been performed. The results of the theoretical calculation and experiments indicate that theproposed mechanical model is applicable.

The purpose of this paper is to：（1） explain what the historical origins of the world-systems concept are; （2） present the background for building the Washington Consensus; （3） attempt to answer if the Beijing Consensus can be interpreted as an alternative to the Washington Consensus; （4） attempt to answer if the world- systems concept is applicable to the current engagement of China in Africa. The world-systems concept provides a useful framework for research in international relations, thanks to both its methodological and theoretical assumptions. As it urges for treating social sciences as an interconnected system, i.e. it believes there is a link between sociology, economics, anthropology and the political sciences, it enables studying the reality of current international relations. Chinese presence in Sub- Saharan Africa should be seen from different points of view, as it affects most spheres of the state： it influences the economics and societies of the African countries （e.g. employment, migration, environment）, as well as politics （e.g. elections in Zambia in 2011 BBC http：//***/news/world-africa- 14952240, 2011）. Thus, the multi-dimensional analysis provided by the worldsystems theory, though not free of drawbacks （e.g. lack of a detailed analysis of each variable）, allows a comprehensive and holistic look at the issue of Chinese engagement in Africa. In terms of theoretical assumptions, its focus on system as a whole （which can be both studied at domestic and international levels） provides a basis for conducting studies at a regional level, treating Sub-Saharan Africa as the study＇s object. The classic world-systems concept defines world economy as driven by the cores＇ domination on the peripheries （described also as North-South division）. Most countries in sub-Saharan Africa fit into the scheme of world-systems analysis as the peripheries, but China cannot be treated as a core state： it is a semiperiphery, as described by Wallerstein, and repres
