Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD), a common respiratory disease, can be effectively treated by traditional Chinese medicine(TCM). Qingfei Huatan, a TCM formula, has been reported to effectively alleviate the clinical symptoms of COPD patients. However, there is a lack of multi-centre,randomised, double-blind, controlled clinical trials documenting the clinical efficacy and safety of this formula in the treatment of acute exacerbation of COPD(AECOPD).Objective: This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of Qingfei Huatan formula in the treatment of AECOPD, thereby providing high-quality clinical ***, setting, participants and interventions: A total of 276 patients with AECOPD were included in this multi-centre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial and were randomised into treatment and control groups at a ratio of 1:1. Patients in the treatment and control groups took Qingfei Huatan granules or simulated Qingfei Huatan granules twice a day, for 14 days, in addition to Western medicine treatment. All patients were followed up for 3 *** outcome measures: The primary outcome was time taken to symptom stabilisation. The secondary outcomes included duration of antibiotic use, clinical symptom and sign score, TCM syndrome score, dyspnoea score, and quality of life(QOL) score. Meanwhile, the safety of the formula was assessed through routine urine and stool tests, electrocardiograms, liver and kidney function tests, and the observation of adverse events throughout the ***: The time taken for effective stabilisation(P < 0.05) and obvious stabilisation(P < 0.01), and the duration of antibiotic use(P < 0.05) were significantly shorter in the treatment group than in the control group. On days 6, 9, 12 and 14 of treatment, clinical symptom and sign score decreased in both groups,particularly in the treatment group(P < 0.01). OBJECTIVE:To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture(AM)in the treatment of pregnancyrelated symptoms such as acute vomiting during ***:We comprehensively searched the available literature up to November 2021,including Pub Med,Embase,Cochrane Library,Chinese Biomedical Literature Database,and China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database,for randomized controlled trials(RCTs)on AM for the treatment of severe vomiting,insomnia,pharyngeal and pelvic pain,mood abnormalities,and dyspepsia during ***:Sixteen RCTs with a cumulative sample size of 1178 cases were *** these,964 patients were included in the *** Meta-analysis results showed that AM was more efficient than Western medicine in treating discomfort during pregnancy[odds ratio(OR)=1.19,95%confidence interval(CI)(1.11,1.28),P<0.01].AM was better than the control group in improving the visual analog scale scores[standard mean difference(SMD)=0.62,95%CI(0.53,0.71),P<0.01].AM was superior to the control group in improving Numerical Rating Scale(NRS)symptom scores[OR=7.31,95%CI(3.36,15.94),P<0.01].There was no significant difference in adverse effects between the AM and sham-AM groups and the analgesic drug group[OR=0.70,95%CI(0.39,1.28),P=0.25],but the treatment and control groups had mild adverse effects with a low ***:AM is more effective than other treatments or pharmacotherapy alone in the treatment of pregnancy-related symptoms,and is relatively ***,the quality of the included trials was rather poor,and high-quality studies are required to confirm our findings.

Objective:To explore the potential mechanism of lysionotin in treating ***:First,target prediction based on Bernoulli Naïve Bayes profiling and pathway enrichment was used to predict the biological activity of *** binding between 5-lipoxygenase(5-LO)and lysionotin was detected by surface plasmon resonance(SPR)and molecular docking,and the inhibitory effects of lysionotin on 5-LO and proliferation of glioma were determined using enzyme inhibition assay in vitro and cell viability analysis,***,the pharmaceutical effect of lysionotin was explored by cell survival rate analysis and liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry(LC-MS/MS).The protein expression,intracellular calcium ion concentration and cytoskeleton detection were revealed by Western blot,flow cytometry and fluorescence labeling,***:Target prediction and pathway enrichment revealed that lysionotin inhibited 5-LO,a key enzyme involved in the arachidonic acid metabolism pathway,to inhibit the proliferation of *** docking results demonstrated that 5-LO can be binding to lysionotin through hydrogen bonds,forming bonds with His600,Gln557,Asn554,and *** analysis further confirmed the interaction between 5-LO and ***,enzyme inhibition assay in vitro and cell survival rate analysis revealed that 50%inhibition concentration of lysionotin and the median effective concentration of lysionotin were 90 and 16.58µmol/L,respectively,and the results of LC-MS/MS showed that lysionotin inhibited the production of 5S-hydroperoxy-eicosatetraenoic acid(P<0.05),and moreover,the LC-MS/MS results indicated that lysionotin can enter glioma cells well(P<0.01)and inhibit their *** blot analysis demonstrated that lysionotin can inhibit the expression of 5-LO(P<0.05)and downstream leukotriene B4 receptor(P<0.01).In addition,the results showed that lysionotin affected intracellular calcium ion concentration by inh

Objective: The effects of arsenic trioxide(As2O3) on hepatocellular carcinoma have been documented widely. Autophagy plays dual roles in the survival and death of cancer cells. Therefore, we investigated the exact role of autophagy in As2O3-induced apoptosis in liver cancer ***: The viability of hepatoma cells was determined using the MTT assay with or without fetal bovine serum. The rate of apoptosis in liver cancer cells treated with As2O3was evaluated using flow cytometry, Hoechst 33258 staining, and TUNEL assays. The rate of autophagy among liver cancer cells treated with As2O3was detected using immunofluorescence, Western blot assay and transmission electron ***: Upon treatment with As2O3, the viability of HepG2 and SMMC-7721 cells was decreased in a time-and dose-dependent manner. The apoptosis rates of both liver cancer cell lines increased with the concentration of As2O3, as shown by flow cytometry. Apoptosis in liver cancer cells treated with As2O3was also shown by the activation of the caspase cascade and the regulation of Bcl-2/Bax ***, As2O3treatment induced autophagy in liver cancer cells;this finding was supported by Western blot, immunofluorescence of LC3-II and beclin 1, and transmission electron microscopy. In liver cancer cells, As2O3inhibited the phosphoinositide 3-kinase/protein kinase B/mammalian target of rapamycin(PI3K/AKT/mTOR) signal pathway that plays a vital role in both apoptosis and autophagy. The PI3K activator SC-79 partially reversed As2O3-induced autophagy and apoptosis. Furthermore, inhibiting autophagy with 3-methyladenine partially reversed the negative effects of As2O3on cell *** starvation increased autophagy and amplified the effect of As2O3on cell ***: As2O3induces apoptosis and autophagy in liver cancer cells. Objective:To determine the role of Tripterygium wilfordii multiglycoside(TGW) in the treatment of psoriatic dermatitis from a cellular immunological ***:Mouse models of psoriatic dermatitis were established by imiquimod(IMQ).Twelve male BALB/c mice were assigned to MQ or IMQ+TGW groups according to a random number *** changes in vivo were assessed by hematoxylin and eosin *** of immune cells and cytokines in mice,as well as PAM212 cell proliferation in vitro were assessed by flow ***-inflammatory cytokine expression was determined using reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain ***:TGW significantly ameliorated the severity of IMQ-induced psoriasis-like mouse skin lesions and restrained the activation of CD45^(+)cells,neutrophils and T lymphocytes(all P<0.01).Moreover,TGW significantly attenuated keratinocytes(KCs) proliferation and downregulated the mRNA levels of inflammatory cytokines including interleukin(IL)-17A,IL-23,tumor necrosis factor α,and chemokine(C-X-C motif) ligand 1(P<0.01 or P<0.05).Furthermore,it reduced the number of γδ T17 cells in skin lesion of mice and draining lymph nodes(P<0.01).Conclusions:TGW improved psoriasis-like inflammation by inhibiting KCs proliferation,as well as the associated immune cells and cytokine *** inhibited IL-17 secretion from γδ T cells,which improved the immune-inflammatory microenvironment of psoriasis.

OBJECTIVE: To systematically assess the effects of individualized Chinese medicines on recurrent urinary tract infections(rUTIs).METHODS: This study recruited 230 adult female patients in the remission phase of rUTIs from five hospitals in China. The patients were randomly allocated to two groups: an individualized Chinese medicine group(n = 114) and a control group(n = 116). The duration of treatment was three courses of four weeks each, with a three-month subsequent follow-up. UTI recurrence rate,traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndrome scores,36-item Short Form Survey(SF-36) score, and urine secretory immunoglobulin A(SIgA) were measured and analyzed before and after treatment in each group. RESULTS: Patients from the Chinese medicine group exhibited significant decreases in both short-and longterm UTI recurrence rates compared with the control group(P medicine and control groups were significant(P medicine group were also significantly higher than those in the control group after treatment(P medicine group also demonstrated a significant increase in urine SIg A expression. CONCLUSION: Taken together, compared to the oftenused long-term antimicrobial prophylaxis during the remission stage of r UTIs, treating patients with an individualized Chinese medicine decoction by syndrome differentiation could effectively reduce the recurrence rate, improve the patients' TCM syndrome scores and quality of life, and enhance immunity, which in turn helps to prevent antibiotic resistance.
