Children＇s Attributions and Emotions for Their Friendships With Their Best Friend

This study, basing on the connection between close relationships and emotional experience from a socio-cognitive perspective, mainly attribution theories, aimed to examine: (1) children’s attributions and emotions for their subjectively perceived positive and negative friendships with their best friend; (2) if children’s attributions and emotions are differentiated depending on whether they perceive their friendship as positive or negative; and (3) the role of the attributional and intuitive (perceived quality) appraisals of the friendship in the formation of the emotions, and in the impact of the emotions on expectations about the quality of the friendship. A total of 225 children, both genders, third and fourth grades, participated in this investigation. All the participants, after writing down the name of their best friend, completed, first, the scale of emotions and, then, the scales of attributions and expectations. The results showed that the perceived positive friendships were mainly attributed to companionship-recreation and perceived help and support by the friends as well as to internal, stable, personal controllable, external uncontrollable and self-friend interactive internal factors. In contrast, the main attributions for the perceived negative friendships were non-exclusiveness, lack of companionship-recreation and friends’ bad character as well as friends’ controllable and internal, personally uncontrollable, external and unstable factors. Also, the participants experienced intense positive and negative emotions (particularly, friendship- and future- related) for the positive and negative friendships, respectively. Attribution (mainly, stability), compared to intuitive appraisal of friendship, was a better predictor of most of the emotions in the negative friendships group, while the pattern was reversed in the positive friendships group. The emergence of coronavirus disease-2019 induced by a newly identified bcoronavirus, namely severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARSCoV-2) has constituted a public health emergency. Even though it was considered a zoonotic disease, the virus has also spread among humans via respiratory secretions. The expression and distribution of angiotensin converting enzyme type 2(ACE2) in various human organs might also show other possible infection routes. High ACE2 ribonucleic acid expression has been identified in the gastrointestinal tract(GI) indicating its importance as a possible infection pathway of SARS-CoV-2. ACE2 induces viral entry into the host and most importantly has been found to be associated with the function of the gut. Its deficiency has been implicated in several pathologies such as colorectal inflammation. The renin-angiotensin system(RAS) is an essential regulatory cascade operating both at a local tissue level and at the systemic or circulatory level. The RAS may be important in the pathogenesis of chronic liver disease and is associated with the up-regulation of ACE2. Thus, the aim of this review is firstly, the analysis of some important general and genome characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 and secondly, and most importantly, to focus on the utility of ACE2 receptors in both SARS-CoV-2 replication and pathogenesis, especially in the GI tract.

Robot-assisted surgery is the gold standard of treatment in many fields of urology. In this systematic review, we aim to reportits usage in andrology and to evaluate any advantages. A systematic search of the PubMed and Cochrane Library databases wasconducted to identify articles referring to robotic-assisted microsurgery in andrology. The search strategy was in line with thePreferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines and the Cochrane Handbook. Thearticles were then reviewed by two authors. A qualitative analysis of the articles that met the inclusion criteria was ***-one articles that met the inclusion criteria were reviewed. The first results for robot-assisted vasovasostomy (RAVV) areencouraging as excellent patency rates, short operative times, and learning curves were achieved. Interestingly, patency rates weregreater in some case series for RAVV than for microsurgical vasovasostomy, with a statistically significant difference. In addition,robot has been shown to be of great use in bypassing fibrotic changes in cases of iatrogenic vasal injuries, difficulties encounteredwith traditional microsurgery. In addition, the feasibility of robot-assisted microsurgery has been proven for varicocelectomy andmicrosurgical denervation of the spermatic cord, with acceptable improvement in sperm parameters and pain, respectively. Thecurrent evidence suggests that there are potential advantages of the use of robots in andrology. However, for robotic surgery tobecome incorporated into the daily use of the andrologists, large, multicenter randomized trials are needed. As robotics systemsare becoming standard in urology practice, it is reasonable for one to believe that they will also find their place in andrology.

Thermal Energy Storage Contribution to the Economic Dispatch of Island Power Systems

In this paper the provision of flexible generation is investigated by extracting steam from Rankine-cycle power stations during off-peak demand in order to charge thermal tanks that contain suitable phase-change materials(PCMs);at a later time when this is required and/or is economically effective,these thermal energy storage(TES)tanks can act as the heat sources of secondary thermal power plants in order to generate power,for example as evaporators of,e.g.,organic Rankine cycle(ORC)plants that are suitable for power generation at reduced temperatures and smaller *** type of solution offers greater flexibility than TES-only technologies that store thermal energy and release it back to the base power station,since it allows both derating but also over-generation compared to the base power-station *** solution is applied in a case study of a 50-MW rated oil-fired power station unit at the autonomous system of *** optimal operation of the TES system is investigated,by solving a modified Unit Commitment-Economic Dispatch optimization problem,which includes the TES operating *** results indicate that for most of the scenarios the discounted payback period is lower than 12 years,while in few cases the payback period is 5 years.

Environmental State of a Harbor in Terms of Waters Renewal. A Case Study for a Fishery Harbor in Thessaloniki Gulf

The waters renewal of the fishery harbor of Nea Krini is presented here. The harbor is located at the east Thessaloniki Gulf (NE Thermaikos Gulf, Greece). The main research point is focused on the environmental state of the harbor which is under construction. Under that point of view, the description of a two-dimensional, depth average, hydrodynamic model follows, in order to simulate the wind generated circulation of waters, initially on the greater area of Thermaikos Gulf and then on the coastal basin of the fishing harbor. The renewal of waters in the harbor’s basin is subsequently studied. Tidal effects on the waters’ renewal are also studied. The calculation of the concentration of Biochemically Oxygen Demand (BOD) in the fishing harbor for the average time of waters’ renewal is then examined for three different cases, concerning the existence and operation of openings on the body of the groins. Finally, the analysis of the results shows a good environmental state of the harbor. It is obvious that the use of numerical models for different scenarios of engineering and design approaches can lead to the prognosis of hydrodynamic and environmental sate of a harbor’s basin so that the best possible technical design can be adopted.

In this paper,we describe and analyze two datasets entitled“Homogenised monthly and daily temperature and precipitation time series in China during 1960–2021”and“Homogenised monthly and daily temperature and precipitation time series in Greece during 1960–2010”.These datasets provide the homogenised monthly and daily mean(TG),minimum(TN),and maximum(TX)temperature and precipitation(RR)records since 1960 at 366 stations in China and 56stations in *** datasets are available at the Science Data Bank repository and can be downloaded from https://***/10.57760/sciencedb.01731 and https://***/10.57760/*** China,the regional mean annual TG,TX,TN,and RR series during 1960–2021 showed significant warming or increasing trends of 0.27℃(10 yr)^(-1),0.22℃(10 yr)^(-1),0.35℃(10 yr)^(-1),and 6.81 mm(10 yr)-1,*** of the seasonal series revealed trends significant at the 0.05level,except for the spring,summer,and autumn RR *** Greece,there were increasing trends of 0.09℃(10 yr)-1,0.08℃(10 yr)^(-1),and 0.11℃(10 yr)^(-1)for the annual TG,TX,and TN series,respectively,while a decreasing trend of–23.35 mm(10 yr)^(-1)was present for *** seasonal trends showed a significant warming rate for summer,but no significant changes were noted for spring(except for TN),autumn,and *** RR,only the winter time series displayed a statistically significant and robust trend[–15.82 mm(10 yr)^(-1)].The final homogenised temperature and precipitation time series for both China and Greece provide a better representation of the large-scale pattern of climate change over the past decades and provide a quality information source for climatological analyses.

Occupational burnout, even though is a widespread subject of research, remains one of the factors that threaten the implementation and organizational structure of the provided health service. The aim of our study is to investigate the level of burnout among health professionals in hellenic Red Cross Hospital, one of the biggest Public Hospitals in Athens, Greece. The study population included 116 health workers and was conducted in 2022. The present study, cross-sectional in nature, investigates burnout symptoms in the health-related professionals by measuring the three dimensions of burnout;emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal achievements. The overall findings show that people who provide health care services in hospitals are a vulnerable group to burnout syndrome. More specifically, it was found that emotional exhaustion moves at medium to high levels, as did depersonalization, while personal achievements are at moderate to low levels. The findings of the present study indicate that emphasis should be given to increasing the personal achievements of employees, which will in turn reduce emotional exhaustion and depersonalization. Perhaps a more detailed study on this topic could enlighten us about the causes and treatment of burnout syndrome in health professionals.
