A transient postanaphase repositioning of the centriole is found to control the completion of cytokinesis. Using agreen fluorescent protein-calmodulin fusion protein as a living cell probe, we have previously found that calmodulin isassociated with the initiation and progression of cytokinesis. In this study, we further studied the effect of calmodulinon the repositioning of the centriole and subsequent cell cycle progression. When activity of calmodulin is inhibited, theregression of the centriole from the intercellular bridge to the cell center is blocked, and thus the completion of celldivision is repressed and two daughter cells are linked by longer cell bridge in perturbed cells. W7 treatment duringcytokinesis also results in unfinished cytokinesis and stopped G1 phase. These results suggest that calmodulin activity isrequired for centriole repositioning and can affect the completion of cytokinesis and cell cycle progression.

Aim: To evaluate the effect of tamoxifen citrate on male reproductive system of rat. Methods: Groups of male rats were gavaged with tamoxifen at doses of 200 mg·kg-1·d-1, 400 mg·kg-1·d-1 or 800 mg·kg-1·d-1 in 0.1 mL olive oil for 10 consecutive days. Controls were treated with 0.1 mL olive oil. Rats were anesthetized and killed on d 3, d 15 or d 35 after the last dose. Testes were collected, processed for paraffin embedding, sectioned at 5 μm thickness, stained with H&E and analyzed microscopically. Results: There was a dose-dependent increase in the occurrence of seminiferous tubular distortion with germinal cell sloughing. The highest dose increased the number of multinucleated giant cells on d 3 and d 15. Conclusion: Tamoxifen citrate induces multinucleated giant cells and germinal epithelial sloughing in a dose-dependent manner and these changes are detrimental to male fertility.

Researches have shown that cancer stem cells, regulated by the niche where they reside, are the roots of oncogenesis, relapse and metastasis. To date, very few treatments have targeted on cancer stem cells. The authors study that the regulated factors in the niche share the characteristics of yin-yang in the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, which has confirmed its therapeutic effects in the prevention and treatment of cancer. So the authors presume that the mechanisms of traditional Chinese medicine on the prevention and treatment of cancer may be related to the yin-yang balance of the niche of cancer stem cells.

Traumatic limb injury is a prevalent lesion in Iran. Motorcycle accidents are responsible for most of these traumatic lesions. Despite various reported techniques, the coverage of the Achilles tendon, malleoli, ankle and heel is still daunting and demanding procedure. S-shaped reverse sural flap is a modified technique of reconstruction. In this report of 6 patients underwent surgical reconstruction by this modified technique we discuss about the technique as a simple and safe technique with low morbidity rate and recommend using this technique in complex injuries.

An ion chromatography method has been proposed for the determination of three common inorganic anions（chloride,nitrate and sulfate） in anionic surfactants using a single pump *** new system consists of an ion exclusion column,a concentrator column,and an anion exchange column connected in series via two 6-ports valves in a Dionex ICS-2000 ion *** valves were switched several times for removing surfactants,concentrating and separating the three *** chromatographic conditions were *** limits（S/N = 3） were in the range of 0.10-0.68μg/*** relative standard deviations（RSDs） of peak area were less than 4.6%.The recoveries were in the range of 84.1-112.6%.

Background： Hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） is a common cancer in China, an area of high hepatitis B virus （HBV） infection. Although several staging systems are available, there is no consensus on the best classification to use because multiple factors, such as etiology, clinical treatment and populations could affect the survival of HCC patients. Methods： This study analyzed 743 HBV-related Chinese HCC patients who received surgery first and evaluated the predictive values of eight different commonly used staging systems in the clinic. Results： The overall 1-, 3-, 5-year survival rates and a median survival were 91.5%, 70.3%, 55.3% and 72 months respectively. Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer （BCLC） staging systems had the best stratification ability and showed the lowest Akaike information criterion （AIC） values （2896.577）, followed by tumor-node-metastasis Th （TNM 7^th）（AIC = 2899.980）, TNM 6th （AIC = 2902.17）, Japan integrated staging score （A1C = 2918.085）, Tokyo （AIC = 2938.822）, Cancer of the Liver Italian Program score （AIC = 2941.950）, Chinese university Prognostic Index grade （AIC = 2962.027）, and Okuda （AIC = 2979.389）. Conclusions： BCLC staging system is a better staging model for HBV infection patients with HCC in Chinese population among the eight currently used staging systems. These identifications afford a large group of Chinese HCC patients with HBV infection and could be helpful to design a new staging system for a certain population.

Mitochondria are important organelles in cells for energy production,and mitochon-drial damage caused by various reasons is an important factor promoting disease *** damage involves structural damage and mitochondrial DNA damage,which are closely related to the occurrence and development of respiratory system *** recent years,a large number of studies have confirmed the significant role of mitochondrial damage in the progression of respiratory system diseases,which may be an important target for the treatment of respiratory system diseases with traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).This article reviews the role of TCM in regulating mitochondrial damage for intervention in respiratory system diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,lung cancer,pulmonary fibrosis,acute lung injury,asthma,and pneumonia,aiming to provide a basis for the study of the pathogenesis and drug action targets of respiratory system diseases.
