Global trend of nondrug and nonsedativehypnotic treatment forinsomnia: a bibliometric study

OBJECTIVE: To present a bibliometric analysis of global scientific publications on the nondrug and nonsedative hypnotic treatment of insomnia with regard to influential institutions, publications, countries, research hotspots,trends, and frontiers. METHODS: A literature review was conducted by searching the Web of Science Core Collection(Wo SCC) and China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) databases to identify all publications related to the nondrug and nonsedative hypnotic treatment of insomnia from 2000 to 2021. Eligible publications were reviewed, including annual publication increments, citation analyses, international collaborations, and keyword analyses. The data were analysed using Cite Space(vers5.8.R3, 6.1.R2 and 6.1.6, College of Computing and Informatics, Philadelphia, PA, USA) and virtualized by knowledge maps. RESULTS:In total, 9832 publications were included in this analysis. The results from the WoSCC showed that the United States of America(Count = 2268, 40.33%), Stanford University(Count = 141, 2.51%), and the United States Department of Health and Human Services were the leading country, institute, and funding agency regarding the number of publications, respectively. “Cognitive-behavioural therapy” was the most popular research topic generated from the cocited reference. The most frequently co-occurring keywords were insomnia, cognitive behavioural therapy, disorder, depression, quality of life, Meta-analysis, older adult, sleep, prevalence and efficacy, while keywords including clinical practice guideline, guideline, and Tai Chi remained popular after 2021. Circadian rhythm was the strongest research frontier for 2000-2021. In China, Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine(Count = 69, 4.79%) was the most productive institute in this field. Navigating breast cancer brain metastasis:Risk factors,prognostic indicators,and treatment perspectives

In this editorial,we comment on the article by Chen et *** specifically focus on the risk factors,prognostic factors,and management of brain metastasis(BM)in breast cancer(BC).BC is the second most common cancer to have BM after lung *** risk factors for BM in BC are:HER-2 positive BC,triplenegative BC,and germline BRCA *** factors associated with BM are lung metastasis,age less than 40 years,and African and American *** though risk factors associated with BM in BC are elucidated,there is a lack of data on predictive models for BM in *** studies have been made to formulate predictive models or nomograms to address this issue,where age,grade of tumor,HER-2 receptor status,and number of metastatic sites(1 vs>1)were predictive of BM in metastatic ***,none have been used in clinical *** Comprehensive Cancer Network recommends screening of BM in advanced BC only when the patient is symptomatic or suspicious of central nervous system symptoms;routine screening for BM in BC is not recommended in the *** decreases the quality of life and will have a significant psychological *** studies are required for designing validated nomograms or predictive models for BM in BC;these models can be used in the future to develop treatment approaches to prevent BM,which improves the quality of life and overall survival.

Dear Editor,We present a rare case of a primary penile follicular center non-Hodgkin lymphoma and a review of the available literature on this condition.A BCL2 gene transposition which was identified with fluorescent in situ hybridization(FISH)molecular analysis is a unique manifestation not previously reported to the best of our knowledge.A 67-year-old man presented with a 3-month history of a small nodule on the left side of the corona of glans *** patient had no significant medical or family *** patient underwent excision and biopsy of the penile lesion with a 0.5 cm macroscopic margin under local anesthesia and *** was discharged on the day of surgery,and there were no postoperative complications or adverse *** informed consent was obtained from thepatient.

HAEMOPOIETIC PROGENITOR CELLS MEASURED BY LIMITING DILUTION IN MICROWELL CULTURE

Microwell culture assays, termed the "negative" well technique and the "positive" well technique have been used to measure the concentration of murine haemopoietic progenitor cells （HPC） by limiting dilution. Using morphologic examination and3H-TdR uptake, the number of HPC of Balb/c mice per 10～5 bone marrow cells was 33 and 31 respectively. The linear relation between the number of harvested cells and input ceils seen on the 4th and 7th days of culture reflected the growth of HPC in microwells

Elevated plasma von Willebrand factor levels in patients with active ulcerative colitis reflect endothelial perturbation due to systemic inflammation

AIM: To evaluate the plasma von Willebrand factor (vWF) levels in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) and to investigate their relationship with disease activity,systemic inflammation and coagulation ***: In 46 patients with ulcerative colitis (active in 34 patients), clinical data were gathered and plasma vWF levels, markers of inflammation (ESR, CRP, and fibrinogen) and thrombin generation (TAT, F1+2, and D-dimers) were measured at baseline and after 12 wk of treatment. Plasma vWF levels were also determined in 52 healthy controls (HC). The relationship of plasma vWF levels with disease activity, disease extent, response to therapy, acute-phase reactants (APRs) and coagulation markers (COAGs) was ***: The mean plasma vWF concentrations were significantly higher in active UC patients (143.38±63.73%) than in HC (100.75±29.65%, P = 0.001)and inactive UC patients (98.92±43.6%, P = 0.031).ESR, CRP and fibrinogen mean levels were significantly higher in active UC patients than in inactive UC patients,whereas there were no significant differences in plasma levels of D-dimers, F1+2, and TAT. UC patients with raised APRs had significantly higher mean plasma vWF levels than those with normal APRs (144.3% vs 96.2%,P = 0.019), regardless of disease activity. Although the mean plasma vWF levels were higher in UC patients with raised COAGs than in those with normal COAGs,irrespective of disease activity, the difference was not significant (141.3% vs 118.2%, P = 0.216). No correlation was noted between plasma vWF levels and disease extent. After 12 wk of treatment, significant decreases of fibrinogen, ESR, F1+2, D-dimers and vWF levels were noted only in UC patients with clinical and endoscopic ***: Our data indicate that increased plasma vWF levels correlate with active ulcerative colitis and increased acute-phase proteins. Hyperhomocysteinemia in ulcerative colitis is related to folate levels

AIM: To study the prevalence and clinical significance of hyperhomocysteinemia (hHcys), an independent factor for arterial and venous thrombosis, in a group of patients with ulcerative colitis (UC).METHODS: Fasting homocysteine (Hcys), folate, and vitamin B12 serum levels were measured in 40 UC patients and 50 healthy controls. Clinical data regarding UC were ***: Median serum Hcys levels in UC patients were similar to those in controls (12.26 μmol/L vs 12.32 μmol/L), but the prevalence of hHcys was higher in UC patients than in controls (30% vs 10%, P= 0.028). UC significantly increased the risk of hHcys (adjusted odds ratio: 4.125;95% CI: 1.26-13.44). Multivariate regression analysis showed that male sex, folate and vitamin B12 deficiency or lower serum values were significant independent predictors of higher Hcys levels in UC patients (r2 = 0.4; P＜0.001).CONCLUSION: hHcys is common in UC patients and it is related to folate and vitamin B12 deficiency or lower serum values. It would be reasonable for patients with UC to receive folate and vitamin B complex supplements as a prophylactic measure.
