The development of brain functional connectivity networks revealed by resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging

Previous studies on brain functional connectivity networks in children have mainly focused on changes in function in specific brain regions, as opposed to whole brain connectivity in healthy children. By analyzing the independent components of activation and network connectivity between brain regions, we examined brain activity status and development trends in children aged 3 and 5 years. These data could provide a reference for brain function rehabilitation in children with illness or abnormal function. We acquired functional magnetic resonance images from 15 3-year-old children and 15 5-year-old children under natural sleep cond让ions. The participants were recruited from five kindergartens in the Nanshan district of Shenzhen City, China. The parents of the participants signed an informed consent form with the premise that they had been fully informed regarding the experimental protocol. We used masked independent component analysis and BrainNet Viewer software to explore the independent components of the brain and correlation connections between brain regions. We identified seven independent components in the two groups of children, including the executive control network, the dorsal attention network, the default mode network, the left frontoparietal network, the right frontoparietal network, the salience network, and the motor network. In the default mode network, the posterior cingulate cortex, medial frontal gyrus, and inferior parietal lobule were activated in both 3- and 5-year-old children, supporting the "three-brain region theory” of the default mode network. In the frontoparietal network, the frontal and parietal gyri were activated in the two groups of children, and functional connectivity was strengthened in 5-year-olds compared with 3-year-olds, although the nodes and network connections were not yet mature. MSC transplantation has been explored as a new clinical approach to stem cell-based therapies for bone diseases in regenerative medicine due to their osteogenic capability. However, only a small population of implanted MSC could successfully reach the injured areas. Therefore, enhancing MSC migration could be a beneficial strategy to improve the therapeutic potential of cell transplantation. Catharmus tinctorius volatile oil(CTVO) was found to facilitate MSC migration. Further exploration of the underlying molecular mechanism participating in the pro-migratory ability may provide a novel strategy to improve MSC transplantation efficacy. This study indicated that CTVO promotes MSC migration through enhancing ROCK2 mRNA and protein expressions. MSC migration induced by CTVO was blunted by ROCK2 inhibitor, which also decreased myosin light chain(MLC) ***, the si RNA for ROCK2 inhibited the effect of CTVO on MSC migration ability and attenuated MLC phosphorylation,suggesting that CTVO may promote BMSC migration via the ROCK2/MLC signaling. Taken together, this study indicates that *** volatile oil could enhance MSC migration via ROCK2/MLC signaling in vitro. C. tinctorius volatile oil-targeted therapy could be a beneficial strategy to improve the therapeutic potential of cell transplantation for bone diseases in regenerative medicine.

Pelvic floor muscle training as a persistent nursing intervention: Effect on delivery outcome and pelvic floor myodynamia

Purpose:To evaluate the effect of pelvic floor muscle training as a nursing intervention on delivery outcomes and postpartum pelvic floor ***:In total,106 nulliparas were randomised into an intervention group and control *** nulliparas participated in a pelvic floor training programme led by a midwife.A pelvic floor physical therapist measured the women’s pelvic floor myodynamia and taught them how to correctly perform pelvic muscle contractions before the intervention.A registered nurse monitored the intervention group via twice-weekly telephone *** control group did not receive individual ***:There were no differences in the rate of Caesarean section or elective Caesarean section between the two groups(χ^(2)=3.446,p=0.076 and χ^(2)=2.343,p=0.185,respectively).There was a difference in the timing of the second stage of labour between the two groups(t=2.101,p=0.040);no difference was observed in the timing of the other two stages of labour(t=1.771,p=0.081 and t=1.142,p=0.263,respectively).In addition,no differences were observed in the gestational weight gain(t=0.196,p=0.845),neonatal weight(t=0.113,p=0.911),rate of episiotomy(χ^(2)=0.932,p=0.351)or rate of perineal laceration(χ^(2)=0.022,p=0.982)between the two *** pelvic floor myodynamia of the intervention group had improved to a greater degree than that in the control group at 6 weeks and 3 months after delivery(p<0.005).Conclusion:Persistent nursing intervention for pregnant/postpartum women helped to shorten the second stage of labour and contributed to the recovery of postpartum pelvic floor *** influence of this intervention on the delivery mode,and rates of episiotomy and perineal laceration remains *** staff should strengthen health education programmes that involve pelvic floor functional rehabilitation.

Interaction of polyhydroxy fullerenes with ferrihydrite：adsorption and aggregation

The rapid development of nanoscience and nanotechnology, with thousands types of nanomaterials being produced, will lead to various environmental impacts. Thus,understanding the behaviors and fate of these nanomaterials is essential. This study focused on the interaction between polyhydroxy fullerenes（PHF） and ferrihydrite（Fh）, a widespread iron（oxyhydr）oxide nanomineral and geosorbent. Our results showed that PHF were effectively adsorbed by Fh. The adsorption isotherm fitted the D-R model well, with an adsorption capacity of 67.1 mg/g. The adsorption mean free energy of 10.72 k J/mol suggested that PHF were chemisorbed on Fh. An increase in the solution p H and a decrease of the Fh surface zeta potential were observed after the adsorption of PHF on Fh; moreover, increasing initial solution p H led to a reduction of adsorption. The Fourier transform infrared spectra detected a red shift of C–O stretching from 1075 to 1062 cm-1 and a decrease of Fe–O bending, implying the interaction between PHF oxygenic functional groups and Fh surface hydroxyls. On the other hand, PHF affected the aggregation and reactivity of Fh by changing its surface physicochemical properties. Aggregation of PHF and Fh with individual particle sizes increasing from 2 nm to larger than 5 nm was measured by atomic force microscopy. The uniform distribution of C and Fe suggested that the aggregates of Fh were possibly bridged by PHF. Our results indicated that the interaction between PHF and Fh could evidently influence the migration of PHF, as well as the aggregation and reactivity of Fh.

Particles attrition of binary mixtures in the coal-fueled chemical looping system based on fluidized bed
