A new enolate derivative of furostanol glycoside, named asparagusin A, was isolated from the roots of Asparagus filicinus and established as 3-O-beta-D-xylopyranosyl(1-->4)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl (25S)-furost-20(22)-ene-3 beta, 26-diol 26-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (1) by spectroscopic and chemical methods. Asparagusin A (1) exhibited a cytotoxic activity effect on PC12 cells.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune inflammatory disease characterized by the presence of a plethora of autoantibodies and immune complex formation. Virtually every system and organ can be affected by SLE. Gastrointestinal symptoms are com-mon in SLE patients, and more than half of them are caused by adverse reactions to medications and viral or bacterial infections. Though not as common as lu-pus nephritis, SLE-related gastrointestinal involvement is clinically important because most cases can be life-threatening if not treated promptly. Lupus mesenteric vasculitis is the most common cause, followed by pro-tein-losing enteropathy, intestinal pseudo-obstruction, acute pancreatitis and other rare complications such as celiac disease, inflammatory bowel diseases, etc. No specific autoantibody is identified as being associated with SLE-related gastroenteropathy. Imaging studies, particularly abdominal computed tomography scans, are helpful in diagnosing some SLE-related gastroen-teropathies. Most of these complications have good therapeutic responses to corticosteroids and immu-nosuppressive agents. Supportive measures such as bowel rest, nutritional support, antibiotics and proki-netic medications are helpful in facilitating functional recovery and improving the outcome.

For the concentrated dispersions of epoxy resin prepared by phase inversion emulsification technique, the effects of solid content and temperature on the rheological behavior are studied. It is found that there exists reversible structural transition in concentrated dispersions subjected to shearing. The viscosity oscillation correlated with high viscoelasticity at lower stress is remarkable in highly concentrated dispersions. There exists storage modules overshot at higher stress during the dynamic stress time ramp test. This could provide some information on dynamics of structure changes during shear action. Besides, the effects of solid content and temperature on the relationship between tangent delta and frequency are essentially different.

Background Surgical treatment of insertional Achilles tendinopathy should be considered when a variety of conservative measures fail. To achieve a satisfactory outcome, thorough debridement of the Achilles tendon is critical, besides excision of the bursitis and the calcaneal exostosis. Central tendon-splitting provides straightforward access to the calcified or degenerative tissue within the Achilles tendon. For Achilles tendon reconstruction if detachment is present, several surgical techniques have been reported. Controversy surrounds the technique can provide maximum security for reattachment of the Achilles tendon. The SutureBrid^e double-row construct, initially used in rotator cuff repair, is Drobablv a aood choice.

We studied the temporal and spacial character of the electromyogram (EMG) evoked by acupuncture in long-issimus dorsi (LD) muscles of rat, and evaluated the effect of needling direction or local blockade on EMG propagation. When certain sites on LD muscle were acupunctured, asynchronous EMG could be activated not only at the acupunctured point, but also within the muscle region supplied by the adjacent 2-3 vertebral segments. The EMG evoked by stimulation on the borderline of aponeurosis and muscle venter was larger in amplitude than those on the other sites in the same vertebral segment. When the distance from the recorded site to stimulated site increased, the EMG amplitude decreased, and its latency prolonged. Acupuncture in an oblique direction toward rostral or caudal side of the muscle enhanced the EMG amplitude in the same direction. In this paper theoretical studies were performed on artemisinin (qinghaosu) derivatives with semiempirical quantum chemical methods AM1 and PM3. The antimalarial activity -logC has an obvious correlation with the net charge of C(16) and bond orders of bonds O(1)-C(10), O(2)-C(6), O(1)-O(2) and O(5)-C(16). According to the calculation results, we derived structure-activity relationship, presented the probable pharmacophore of qinghaosu derivatives and the interaction fashion between the drugs and the plasmodium receptor.

OBJECTIVE To assess the feasibility and safety of the minimalistic approach to left atrial appendage occlusion(LAAO) guided by cardiac computed tomography angiography(CCTA).METHODS Ninety consecutive patients who underwent LAAO, with or without CCTA-guided, were matched(1:2). Each step of the LAAO procedure in the computed tomography(CT) guidance group(CT group) was directed by preprocedural CT planning. In the control group, LAAO was performed using the standard method. All patients were followed up for 12 months, and device surveillance was conducted using *** A total of 90 patients were included in the analysis, with 30 patients in the CT group and 60 matched patients in the control group. All patients were successfully implanted with Watchman devices. The mean ages for the CT group and the control group were 70.0 ± 9.4 years and 68.4 ± 11.9 years(P = 0.52), respectively. The procedure duration(45.6 ± 10.7 min vs. 58.8 ± 13.0 min,P < 0.001) and hospital stay(7.5 ± 2.4 day vs. 9.6 ± 2.8 day, P = 0.001) in the CT group was significantly shorter compared to the control group. However, the total radiation dose was higher in the CT group compared to the control group(904.9 ± 348.0 m Gy vs.711.9 ± 211.2 m Gy, P = 0.002). There were no significant differences in periprocedural pericardial effusion(3.3% vs. 6.3%, P = 0.8) between the two groups. The rate of postprocedural adverse events(13.3% vs. 18.3%, P = 0.55) were comparable between both groups at 12 months *** CCTA is capable of detailed LAAO procedure planning. Minimalistic LAAO with preprocedural CCTA planning was feasible and safe, with shortened procedure time and acceptable increased radiation and contras consumption. For patients with contraindications to general anesthesia and/or transesophageal echocardiography, this promising method may be an alternative to conventional LAAO.
