Panax notoginseng saponins(PNS)are a class of effective ingredients in Notoginseng Radix et Rhizoma,a well-known herbal medicine called San-Qi in *** oral administration,PNS inevitably interacts with gut microbiota,and thus affect the pharmacokinetic profiles and pharmacological *** date,studies concering gut microbiota-mediated metabolism of PNS have not been reviewed ***,we outline the metabolic profiles of Panax notoginseng saponins mediated by gut microbiota,as well as its role in the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics on the basis of reported *** metabolic pathways of primary saponins are proposed,and step-by-step deglycosylation is found to be the primary degradation pathways of PNS mediated by gut *** microorganisms and enzymes involved in the metabolic processes were *** microbiota is deeply involved in the metabolism of PNS,affects the pharmacokinetic profiles,and produces a series of active *** metabolites were documented to play an essential role in the efficacy of the parent *** studies should focus on strengthening the real-world evidence,defining the interaction between gut microbiota and PNS,and developing the strategy for modulating gut microbiota to enhance the bioavailability and efficacy of *** information would be useful for further research and clinical application of PNS.

Schisandra chinensis, a traditional Chinese medicine(tcm), has been used to treat sleep disorders. Zebrafish sleep/wake behavioral profiling provides a high-throughput platform to screen chemicals, but has never been used to study extracts and components from tcm. In the present study, the ethanol extract of Schisandra chinensis and its two main lignin components, schisandrin and schisandrin B, were studied in zebrafish. We found that the ethanol extract had bidirectional improvement in rest and activity in zebrafish. Schisandrin and schisandrin B were both sedative and active components. We predicted that schisandrin was related to serotonin pathway and the enthanol extract of Schisandra chinensis was related to seoronin and domapine pathways using a database of zebrafish behaviors. These predictions were confirmed in experiments using Caenorhabditis elegans. In conclusion, zebrafish behavior profiling could be used as a high-throughput platform to screen neuroactive effects and predict molecular pathways of extracts and components from tcm.

Depression,a prevalent and complex mental health condition,presents a significant global health *** is one of the most frequent mental disorders;deaths from it account for 14.3%of people *** recent years,the integration of complementary and alternative medicine,including traditional Chinese medicine(tcm),has gained attention as a potential avenue for addressing *** comprehensive review critically assesses the efficacy of tcm interventions in alleviating depressive *** in-depth look at different research studies,clinical trials,and meta-analyses is used in this review to look into how tcm practices like herbal formulations,acupuncture,and mindbody practices *** review looks at the quality of the evidence,the rigor of the methods,and any possible flaws in the current *** gives us an idea of where tcm stands right now in terms of treating *** comprehensive review aims to assess the efficacy of tcm interventions in alleviating depressive *** order to learn more about their possible healing effects,the study also looks into how different types of tcm work,such as herbal formulas,acupuncture,and mind-body practices.
