Short-term Wind Speed Prediction with a Two-layer Attention-based LSTM

Wind speed prediction is of great importance because it affects the efficiency and stability of power systems with a high proportion of wind ***-spatial wind speed features contain rich information;however,their use to predict wind speed remains one of the most challenging and less studied *** paper investigates the problem of predicting wind speeds for multiple sites using temporal and spatial features and proposes a novel two-layer attentionbased long short-term memory(LSTM),termed 2Attn-LSTM,a unified framework of encoder and decoder mechanisms to handle temporal-spatial wind speed *** eliminate the unevenness of the original wind speed,we initially decompose the preprocessing data into IMF components by variational mode decomposition(VMD).Then,it encodes the spatial features of IMF components at the bottom of the model and decodes the temporal features to obtain each component's predicted value on the second ***,we obtain the ultimate prediction value after denormalization and *** have performed extensive experiments for short-term predictions on real-world data,demonstrating that 2Attn-LSTM outperforms the four baseline *** is worth pointing out that the presented 2Atts-LSTM is a general model suitable for other spatial-temporal features.

Currently,many biometric systems maintain the user’s biometrics and templates in plaintext format,which brings great privacy risk to uses’biometric *** are unique and almost unchangeable,which means it is a great concern for users on whether their biometric information would be *** address this issue,this paper proposes a confidential comparison algorithm for iris feature vectors with masks,and develops a privacy-preserving iris verification scheme based on the El Gamal encryption *** our scheme,the multiplicative homomorphism of encrypted features is used to compare of iris features and their mask ***,this paper improves the Hamming distance of iris features,which makes the similarity matching work better than existing *** results confirm the practicality of our proposed schemes in real world applications,that is,for the iris feature vectors and masks of 2048 bits,nearly 12 comparisons can be performed per second.

This paper proposes a security enhancement scheme for disaster tolerant systems based on trusted computing technology which combines with the idea of distributed threshold storage. This scheme takes advantage of a trusted computing platform with a trusted computing module, which has excellent features such as security storage, remote attestation, and so on. These features effectively ensure trustworthiness of the disaster tolerant point. Furthermore, distributed storage based on Erasure code not only disposes the storage problem about a great deal of data, but also preferably avoids one node invalidation, alleviates network load and deals with joint cheat and many other security problems. Consequently, those security enhancement technologies provide mass data with global security protection during the course of disaster tolerance.

The diversity of software and hardware forces programmers to spend a great deal of time optimizing their source code,which often requires specific treatment for each *** problem becomes critical on embedded devices,where computational and memory resources are strictly *** play an essential role in deploying source code on a target device through the *** this work,a novel backend for the Open Neural Network Compiler(ONNC)is proposed,which exploits machine learning to optimize code for the ARM Cortex-M *** backend requires minimal changes to Open Neural Network Exchange(ONNX)*** novel optimization techniques are also inc.rporated in the backend,such as quantizing the ONNX model’s weight and automatically tuning the dimensions of operators in *** performance of the proposed framework is evaluated for two applications:handwritten digit recognition on the Modified National Institute of Standards and Technology(MNIST)dataset and model,and image classification on the Canadian Institute For Advanced Research and 10(CIFAR-10)dataset with the AlexNet-Light *** system achieves 98.90%and 90.55%accuracy for handwritten digit recognition and image classification,***,the proposed architecture is significantly more lightweight than other state-of-theart models in terms of both computation time and generated source code *** the system perspective,this work provides a novel approach to deploying direct computations from the available ONNX models to target devices by optimizing compilers while maintaining high efficiency in accuracy performance.

Environmental sustainability issues and the costs of new power generation and transmission have inc.eased the interest in evolving current power grid to new technologies. The Smart Grid is a promising technology, sinc. it allows a distributed computing approach with potentials for self-diagnosing/-healing, reliable multi-user communication and fast hard real-time control. However, the missing standardization associated with heterogeneity of legacy systems and wide-area service demands, makes very challenging to adopt Smart Grid in a cost-effective way. By considering this, we propose the Session-Oriented Communication System (SOCSys) to overcome the above issues by enhancing Smart Grid with truly reliable and robust capabilities over heterogeneous environments. SOCSys achieves this goal by orchestrating session-control with innovative network-centric facilities operating over a wireless mesh Information Network compliant with IEEE 802.11e/s standard. The simulation results show that SOCSys improved network performance in terms of bandwidth utilization and minimization of delay, while consuming low network resources. Graphical analyses showed that SOCSys supported multimedia sessions with excellent quality, where it outperforms the experiments with regular settings.

Due to the tremendous volume of data generated by urban surveillance systems, big data oriented lowcomplexity automatic background subtraction techniques are in great demand. In this paper, we propose a novel automatic background subtraction algorithm for urban surveillance systems in which the computer can automatically renew an image as the new background image when no object is detected. This method is both simple and robust with respect to changes in light conditions.

An integrated sensor system is implemented using inter-integrated circuit mode (I2C) software, utilizing the PIC182585 MPLAB embedded control system utilizing hardware. The hardware implementation features high level of integration, reliability, high precision, and high speed communications. The system was demonstrated by temperature and CO2 sensors. An extension for Zigbee system is proposed to enhance the security of the integrated system. A bi-directional air/liquid flow sensor is also added to detect the flow magnitude and direction that can be applied to heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC), local and national security within subway systems, and medical equipment. The hardware design of the flow sensor inc.uded one heating element and two sensing elements to detect the bi-directional flow. Platinum sensors were found to be of high sensitivity and linear characteristics within 0℃ to 100℃ range, and their high temperature coefficient (0.00385 Ω/Ω/℃). Polyimide thin film heater was used as the heating element due to its high throughput and good thermal efficiency. Two bridge circuits were also designed to sense the temperature distribution in the vicinity of the sensing elements. Three high precision instrumentation low power amplifiers with offset voltage ~2.5 μV (50 μV max) were used for the overall design. The system security is also enhanced with the detection of poison gas using Carbon Nanotube devices (CNT). An antenna system was designed, and a frequency shift was detected to designate the type of poison gas used for a general threat.
