Moxibustion Treatment for Knee Osteoarthritis: A Meta-Analysis

Objective:To systematically evaluate the efficacy of Moxibustion in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis, and to provide a reasonable supplementary scheme for clinical medical treatment by analyzing the results of Moxibustion in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis and related experimental ***:Computerized retrieval of CNKI, Wanfang, PubMed and other databases from January 2009 to June 2019, published clinical controlled trials of Moxibustion in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis, and retrospective references of the required literature to improve the relevant literature retrieval, if there are documents that can not be downloaded, Manual search was carried out and the literature was included after quality evaluation. Meta-analysis was carried out with Review Manager 5.3 ***:A total of 1207 patients with knee osteoarthritis were included in 15pieces of literature. (1) In terms of total effective rate, moxibustion was superior to conventional Western drugs. Meta-analysis showed that RR=1.21,95%CI [1.14,1.28],Z=6.44,P < 0.00001;(2) In VAS score, moxibustion was superior to conventional Western drugs, meta-analysis of two groups: WMD=-2.71, 95% CI [-4.90, -0.52], Z=2.43,P < 0.05;(3) In WOMAC score, moxibustion was superior to conventional Western drugs, meta-analysis of two groups: WMD=-6.79,95%CI [-12.35,-1.23],Z=2.39,P < 0.05;(4) WOMAC pain. In terms of pain score, moxibustion was superior to conventional Western drugs. Meta-analysis showed that WMD=-1.34,95%CI [-2.50,-0.17],Z=2.25,P < 0.05;(5) knee joint function. On the contrary, moxibustion was superior to conventional Western drugs. Meta-analysis showed that WMD = 12.54, 95% CI [6.93, 18.15], Z = 4.28,P < 0.01;(6) In Lysholm index, moxibustion was superior to conventional Western drugs. Meta-analysis showed that WMD = 12.13, 95% CI [6.87, 17.39], Z = 4.52,P < 0.01;(7) In Lequesne index, moxibustion was superior to conventional Western drugs. Routine western drugs, meta-analysis: WMD =-4.

Quzhou Aurantii Fructus(QAF)has a long history as a folk medicine and food for the treatment of liver *** our earlier study provided evidence of hepatoprotective properties contained within the flavonoids and limonins constituents in QAF,the potential preventative effects afforded by essential oil components present within QAF remains *** this study,we prepared Quzhou Aurantii Fructus essential oil(QAFEO)and confirmed its anti-inflammatory effects on liver inflammation through experimentation on lipopolysaccharide and D-galactosamine(LPS/D-GalN)induced acute liver failure(ALF)mouse *** RNA-sequence(RNA-seq)analysis,we found that QAFEO prevented ALF by systematically blunting the pathways involved in response to LPS and toll-like receptor signaling *** effectively suppressed the phosphorylation of tank-binding kinase 1(TBK1),TGF-beta activated kinase 1(TAK1),interferon regulatory factor 3(IRF3),and the activation of mitogen activated kinase-like protein(MAPK)and nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)pathways in vivo and in ***,QAFEO substantially reduced myeloid differentiation primary response gene 88(MyD88)-toll-like receptor 4(TLR4)interaction ***,8 compounds from QAFEO could directly bind to REAL,TAK1,MyD88,TBK1,and *** together,the results of our study support the notion that QAFEO exerts a hepatoprotective effect through inhibiting LPS-mediated inflammatory response.

Objective: Qianliguang(Senecio scandens) is a common chinese medicinal herb. Qianliguang-containing herbal proprietary products are registered as over-the-counter remedies in China and exported to Western countries. The presence of hepatotoxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids(PAs)has raised concerns about the safety of using Qianliguang and its products. The present study aims at investigation of different types of PAs present in Qianliguang collected from representative locations in ***: In this study, a simple but specific UHPLC-QTOF-MS method for the determination of toxic PAs was developed, based on the characteristic fragment ions specific to different types of PAs. It was successfully applied for the identification and distinguishing of PAs present in Qianliguang and related Senecio species growing in different locations of ***: Significant diversity of the PA types and quantities were revealed among the samples tested. The estimated total amounts of toxic PAs in three of the samples exceed the toxic limits of PA intake restricted by WHO, demonstrating the timely and highly demand for regulating both types and quantities of PAs present in ***: This study provides the methodology for simultaneous identification and quantification of PAs present in herbs without requiring corresponding standards, which could be further used for more systematic investigations of the PA distribution in Qianliguang and other PA-containing herbs.

Linear-rubbing is a characteristic technique in the academic school of internal exercise massage in Shanghai. It was known as 'flat pushing method' in the past times. The academic school of internal exercise Tuina finds, in the clinical practice of flat pushing, that if the internal exercise accumuhtes in the palm and one-way movement is replaced by two-way movement, the kinetic energy may be transformed into heat energy, bringing about a new unique manipulating technique, which is rather different from the usual flat pushing no longer and now called linear-rubbing therapy.

3-D velocity structure of P wave in the upper mantle beneath southwestern China and its adjacent areas

3-D velocity structure of P wave in the upper mantle beneath southwestern China and its adjacent areas (10°N [similar to] 36°N, 70°E [similar to] 110°E) down to the depth of 400 km has been studied by using 80 974 P-wave first arrival times recorded at 165 stations from 7 053 events both within the studying areas, selected from the ISC bulletin and the Bulletin of China and NEIC fundamental seismic network. With a resolution of grid spacing of 2°×2°, the velocity heterogeneity on the horizontal profile is obvious though it attenuates with the depth increasing. On the vertical profiles of velocity along the latitude of 16°N and 24°N, the collision and extrusion of India plate to Eurasia plate is displayed, and a remarkable velocity difference between India plate and Eurasia plate is shown. In the vertical profile along the longitude of 90°E, the subducting of India plate northward beneath Eurasia plate (Tibet plateau) is also obvious. On the horizontal profile at the depth of 90 km, a slow velocity stripe from Myitkyina, Myanmar to Donghai, Vietnam seems to be related to Honghe fault belt. An illustration method of describing the resolution more directly and exactly has been proposed and utilized in this paper.

Potential effects of elevated carbon dioxide on leaf-feeding forest insects

The elevated concentration of atmospheric CO_(2)may result in a decline of leaf nutritional quality(especially N)and an increase in some kinds of defensive secondary components(such as phenolics).The changes in the phytochemistry of trees,combined with the effect of elevated CO_(2)per se,have a potential negative influence on insect ***,we review the effect of elevated CO_(2)on the performance of leaf-feeding forest insects at individual-level and *** elevated CO_(2)per se have little influence on the metabolism of *** half of the tree-insect experimental systems show that the performance of individual insect become poorer under high-CO_(2)grown trees;but the others show that the insects have just little or no response to the *** direction and magnitude of the changes in the performance of insects could be mediated by various *** effects of treatment are strongly *** mag-nitude of changes in the phytochemistry,the sensitivity and adaptive capacity of insects to the poorer leaf quality,the differences in plant growth conditions and experimental methods,and the mediated effects of other environmental factors(such as soil nutrient availability,light,temperature,O_(3))were all closely related to the final performance of ***,the larvae’s consumption usually increased under enriched CO_(2)treatment,which was widely thought to be a compens-atory response to poorer plant *** experiments on forest community-level found identically a reduction in herbivory,which was contrary to the results from small-scale *** changes in insect popu-lation and the actual response of consumption by leaf-feeding forest insects under CO_(2)enrichment remain unclear,and more field-based experiments need to be conducted.

Review of eye diagnosis in traditional chinese medicine:Modernization and future prospects

This article reviews the basic theories, methods, and clinical applications of eye diagnosis in traditional chinese medicine(TCM). It introduces cutting-edge methods and applications and explains that the modernization of TCM eye diagnosis includes “equipment-assisted diagnosis” and “artificial intelligencebased diagnosis”. The article also notes that while there are many recent studies of the static attributes of eyes in modern TCM eye diagnosis, modern application research on the dynamic attributes of eyes in TCM diagnosis theory is relatively rare. We propose, therefore, that introducing advanced eye-movement detection technology into TCM clinical diagnosis could help to further modernize TCM eye diagnosis.

Chronic hypotony management using endoscopy-assisted vitrectomy after severe ocular trauma or vitrectomy

·AIM: To report outcomes of endoscopy-assisted vitrectomy(EAV) in patients with chronic hypotony following severe ocular trauma or vitrectomy.·METHODS: This was a retrospective, noncomparative case series. Ciliary bodies were evaluated using ultrasound biomicroscopy pre-operatively and direct visualisation intraoperatively. All selected individuals(seven patients/seven eyes) underwent EAV. Removal of ciliary membrane and traction, gas/silicone oil tamponade(GT/SOT), and scleral buckling(SB) were performed in selected eyes. Outcome measurements mainly included intraocular pressure(IOP) and best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA).·RESULTS: Seven eyes from 7 male aphakic patients with a mean age of 45(range, 20-68)y were included in this study;the average follow-up time was 12(9-15)mo. GT was performed in 2 eyes;membrane peeling(MP) and SOT in 2 eyes;and MP, SOT, and SB in 3 eyes. The mean preand post-operative IOP were 4.5(range, 4.0±0.11 to 4.8±0.2) mm Hg and 9.9(range, 5.6±0.17 to 12.1±0.2) mm Hg at 52wk(12mo), respectively. BCVA improved in six eyes;one eye still showed light perception, and no bulbi phthisis was observed.·CONCLUSION: Endoscopy offers improved judgment and recognition and has an improved prognosis for chronic hypotony. Therefore, endoscopy can be an effective and promising operative technique for chronic traumatic hypotony management.

Randomized controlled study of Tuina in the treatment of insomnia:A Meta-analysis

Objective:To find out the clinical randomized controlled trials of Tuina in the treatment of insomnia,and to incorporate it into the research results of this subject for *** comparing the clinical effects,we can compare the literature and research related to Tuina treatment of insomnia and other treatments of insomnia,and summarize its characteristics and ***:Relevant searches were performed on CNKI,VIP,CBMdisc,WanFang,Embase,Cochrance,PubMed,*** out the effects of related massage therapy on the treatment of *** Randomized Controlled Medical Research Clinical Trials(RCT).According to the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria,the literature was screened,and then the included literature was extracted as data after ***5.3 software was used to integrate and analyze the ***:19 randomized controlled trials that met the criteria were classified as studies,with a total of 1625 *** results of Meta-analysis showed that the total effective rate of massage for insomnia(OR=4.20,95%CI:3.00-5.88,Ptraditional chinese medicine,western medicine,ear point treatment and acupuncture *** difference in experimental effects was statistically significant,and no adverse reactions were ***:The use of Tuina methods combined with different types of massage treatments to treat insomnia has a good therapeutic effect and no serious adverse events ***,due to the limitations of this study,more large-sample,multi-center,in-depth clinical studies are needed to provide more reliable evidence-based evidence for the clinic,in order to better serve the development of guidelines.
