The COVID-19 pandemic is considerably the biggest global health challenge of this modern *** across all regions of the world,this corona virus disease has disrupted even some of the most advanced economies and healthcare *** an increasing global death toll and no near end in sight,questions on the efficacy of global response mechanisms,including the role and relevancy of global health institutions,have *** a reflexive content analytic approach,this study sheds light on some of these questions,underscoring the disconnect between science,policymaking,and *** health funding approaches;politicization of the pandemic,including political blame gaming;mistrust of government and other institutions;and a lack of robust accountability measures are some of the pandemic response ***,COVID-19 has also presented an opportunity for a collaboration that may potentially solidify global solidarity.A pandemic response built on strategic global health diplomacy,vaccine diplomacy,and science diplomacy can spur both political and economic benefits,advancing development,health security,and *** virus thrives and flourishes in face of political divisions and lack of *** the current global crisis has exacerbated the existing social injustices in societies,national unity and global solidarity is essential to winning the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hypertension(HT)is a major risk factor for cardiovascular ***üppel-like factors(KLFs)are important transcription factors in *** have reported that KLF4 and KLF5 are correlated with several cardiovascular diseases,but population-based studies on associations between HT and KLF4 or KLF5 have rarely been ***,the current study investigated the associations of genetic variants and m RNA expression levels of KLF4 and KLF5 with HT,as well as the effects of antihypertensive drugs on the expression levels of these *** associations of one single-nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)in KLF4 and three SNPs in KLF5with HT were analyzed using a combination of case-control and cohort *** study populations were selected from a community-based cohort in four regions of Jiangsu *** risks of HT were estimated through logistic and Cox regression *** addition,m RNA expression levels of KLF4 and KLF5 were detected in 246 controls and 385 HT cases selected from the aforementioned *** the HT cases,263were not taking antihypertensive drugs[AHD(-)]and 122 were taking antihypertensive drugs[AHD(+)].In the case-control study,SNP rs9573096(C>T)in KLF5 was significantly associated with an increased risk of HT in the additive model(adjusted odds ratio[OR],1.106;95%confidence interval[CI],1.009 to 1.212).In the cohort study of the normotensive population,rs9573096 in KLF5 was also significantly associated with an increased risk of HT in the additive model(adjusted hazards ratio[HR],1.199;95%CI,1.070 to 1.344).KLF4 and KLF5m RNA expression levels were significantly higher in the AHD(-)group than in the control group(P<0.05),but lower in the AHD(+)group than in the AHD(-)group(P<0.05).The current study demonstrated the associations of KLF4 and KLF5 genetic variants with hypertension,as well as the association of the indicative variations in m RNA expression levels of KLF4 and KLF5 with the risk of hypertension and antihypertensive

Background One health approach is crucial to tackling complex global public health threats at the interface of humans, animals, and the environment. As outlined in the One health Joint Plan of Action, the international One health community includes stakeholders from different sectors. Supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, an academic community for One health action has been proposed with the aim of promoting the understanding and real-world implementation of One health approach and contribution towards the Sustainable Development Goals for a healthy *** text The proposed academic community would contribute to generating high-quality scientific evidence, distilling local experiences as well as fostering an interconnected One health culture and mindset, among various stakeholders on different levels and in all sectors. The major scope of the community covers One health governance, zoonotic diseases, food security, antimicrobial resistance, and climate change along with the research agenda to be developed. The academic community will be supported by two committees, including a strategic consultancy committee and a scientific steering committee, composed of influential scientists selected from the One health information database. A workplan containing activities under six objectives is proposed to provide research support, strengthen local capacity, and enhance global *** The proposed academic community for One health action is a crucial step towards enhancing communication, coordination, collaboration, and capacity building for the implementation of One health. By bringing eminent global experts together, the academic community possesses the potential to generate scientific evidence and provide advice to local governments and international organizations, enabling the pursuit of common goals, collaborative policies, and solutions to misaligned interests.

Human papillomavirus(HPV)vaccination campaigns to prevent cervical cancer are being considered and implemented in countries around the *** vaccination will protect future generations,it will not help the millions of women currently infected,leading to an estimated 311000 deaths per year *** paper examines a selection of strategies that when applied to both existing and new technologies,could accelerate access to HPV *** from the US Agency for International Development,the National Institutes of health,and the Bridge to health Medical and Dental,a non-governmental organisation,joined forces to propose a scalable and country-directed solution for preventing cervical cancer using an end-to end ***,the authors offer seven evidence-based strategies,that when used alone or in combination have the ability to reduce HPV-caused cervical cancer deaths and *** strategies include(1)consistent HPV test intervals to decrease HPV DNA test costs;(2)exploring market shaping opportunities;(3)employing iterative user research methodologies like human-centred design;(4)target product profiles for new HPV tests;(5)encouraging innovation around cervical cancer screen and treat programmes;(6)developing national cancer control plans;and(7)integrating cervical cancer screen and treat services into existing *** using the strategies outlined here,in combination with HPV vaccination campaigns,national governments will be able to scale and expand cervical cancer screening programmes and provide evidence-based treatment programmes for HPV-infected women.

To extend the current understanding of the mercury-mediated cytotoxic effect,five neural cell lines established from different animal species were comparatively analyzed using three different endpoint bioassays：thiazolyl blue tetrazolium bromide,3-（4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl）-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide assay（MTT）,neutral red uptake assay（NRU）,and Coomassie blue assay（CB）.Following a 24-hr exposure to selected concentrations of mercury chloride（HgCl_2） and methylmercury（Ⅱ） chloride（MeHgCl）,the cytotoxic effect on test cells was characterized by comparing their 50%inhibition concentration（IC_（50）） *** results indicated that both these forms of mercury were toxic to all the neural cells,but at very different *** IC_（50）values of MeHgCl among these cell lines ranged from 1.15±0.22 to 10.31 ± 0.70 μmol/L while the IC_（50） values for HgCl_2 were much higher,ranging from 6.44 ± 0.36 to 160.97±19.63 μmol/L,indicating the more toxic nature of *** IC_（50） ratio between HgCl_2and MeHgCl ranged from 1.75 to 96.0,which confirms that organic mercury is much more toxic to these neural cells than inorganic *** these cell lines,HGST-BR and TriG44 derived from marine sea turtles showed a significantly high tolerance to HgCl_2 as compared to the three mammalian neural *** these neural cells,SK-N-SH represented the most sensitive cells to both chemical forms of mercury.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)is one of the fastest growing public health concerns around the ***-sweetened beverage(SSB)consumption has been proven to be associated with adverse health consequences in the diabetic *** SSB consumption,body weight control,healthy diets,and increased physical activity have been suggested as strategies to improve diabetes prevention and *** literature review provides an overview of:(1)The association between SSB consumption and the risk of T2DM;(2)Types of SSB consumption and T2DM;(3)The effect of obesity and inflammation on the association between SSB consum-ption and risk of T2DM;and(4)SSB consumption in T2DM *** is still work to be done to determine how SSB consumption is related to T2DM,but the current research on identifying the association between SSB consumption and T2DM is promising,with the most promising studies confirming the connection between SSBs,T2DM risk,and diabetes *** studies should explore more effective SSB related diabetes prevention and management interventions.
