Abstract Mn-based layered oxides are among the most promising cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries owing to the advantages of abundance,environmenta friendliness,low cost and high specific capacity.P2 and O'3 are two representative structures of Mn-based layered oxides.However,the P2 structure containing insufficien Na generally exhibits low initial charge capacity,while O'3structure with sufficient Na delivers high initial charge capacity but poor cycle stability.This study prepared a multitude of NaxMnO2（x=0.7,0.8,0.9） cathode materials with varying P2/O'3 ratios and further investigated their electrochemical performances.The optimized Na0.8MnO2comprising 69.9 wt%O'3 and 30.1 wt% P2 phase,exhibited relatively balanced specific capacity,Coulombic efficiency and cycle stability.Specifically,it achieved a high specific capacity of 128.9 mAh·g-1with an initia Coulombic efficiency of 98.2%in half-cell configuration The Na0.8MnO2// hard carbon full cell also achieved a high specific capacity of 126.7 mAh·g-1with an initia Coulombic efficiency of 98.9%.Moreover,the capacity fading mechanism was revealed by combining in-situ and ex-situ X-ray diffraction.The findings of this study provide theoretical guidance for further modification design of Mnbased layered cathodes.

Background There is increasing epidemiological evidence supporting the association between onchocerciasis and seizures,reinforcing the concept of onchocerciasis-associated epilepsy(OAE).The aim of this paper is to provide an update on the new knowledge about OAE and to propose recommendations to the World health Organization how to address this public health problem.Main text During the 2nd International Workshop on OAE held on 19-21 September,2023,in Antwerp,Belgium,participants recognised OAE as a substantial yet neglected public health problem,particularly in areas of sub-Saharan Africa where onchocerciasis remains hyperendemic.Evidence from prospective population-based studies suggest that strengthening onchocerciasis elimination efforts leads to a significant reduction of OAE incidence.There is a need to validate an OAE case definition to estimate the burden of disease and identify onchocerciasis-endemic areas requiring intensification of onchocerciasis elimination programmes and integration of epilepsy care t is expected that raising awareness about OAE will boost the population uptake of ivermectin.The implementation of a commu-nity-based epilepsy treatment programme offering free anti-seizure medications(ASMs)has shown high effectiveness in reducing the frequency of seizures and improving the overall quality of life of people with epilepsy.Conclusions To reduce OAE burden,enhanced collaboration between onchocerciasis and mental health pro-grammes at community,national,and international levels is required.Urgent efforts are needed to ensure the uninter-rupted provision of free ASMs in onchocerciasis-endemic areas.Furthermore,OAE should be included in the quantif-cation of the onchocerciasis disease burden.

The two-stage electrostatic precipitator is widely used to purify oil mist particles.However,there is limited research on the influences of relative humidity,particle deposition characteristics,and the generation of gaseous pollutants.Therefore,this paper established a numerical model of the electrostatic oil mist purifier and applied it to a two-stage electrostatic precipitator.Then the model was used to investigate the corona discharge characteristics under different relative humidity conditions in the charged zone,the particle deposition characteristics,the purification efficiency,the ozone concentration distribution,and the oil vapor concentration distribution in the collection zone.The results indicate that,with a constant temperature,the corona current decreases as relative humidity increase,and there is a quadratic relationship between relative humidity and current.The variation in relative humidity has little impact on the purification efficiency.The maximum ozone concentration occurs near the electrode line,and its concentration is influenced by the discharge current and inlet airflow velocity.The oil vapor concentration reaches its maximum value at the side plates,with a value of 19 ppb,while it reaches the minimum value at the collecting zone electrode plate,with a value of 2 ppb.The temperature is the main factor affecting the volatilization of the oil film,with higher temperatures resulting in higher oil vapor.

Manganese oxides(MNO_(x)),as low-toxicity and high-abundance catalysts,have been demonstrated to hold great promise for application in advanced oxidation processes(AOPs).However,further application of this material is restricted due to its unsatisfactory oxidant activation efficiency.Fortunately,recently remarkable research on deep activation mechanisms and modification of MNO_(x)have been undertaken to improve its reactivity.Herein,modification enhancement mechanisms of MNO_(x)to efficiently degrade various organic contaminants were discussed and highlighted,including metal doping,coupling with other metal oxides,composite with carbonaceous material,and compounding with other support.The activation mechanisms of different MNO_(x)and derivative-modified material(such as doped MNO_(x),metal oxide-MNO_(x)hybrids,and MNO_(x)-carbonaceous material hybrids)were summarized in great details,which was specifically categorized into both radical and non-radical pathways.The effects of pH,inorganic ions,and natural organic matter on degradation reactions are also discussed.Finally,future research directions and perspectives are presented to provide a clear interpretation on the MNO_(x)initiated AOPs.

The practical energy density of lithium-sulfur batteries（LSBs） is seriously limited by the high electrolyte-to-sulfur ratios（E/S）.The E/S can be reduced by employing hosts with easy-to-infiltrate structure that ensures the uniform distribution of a lean electrolyte and high catalytic activity that can suppress "shuttle effect" via accelerating the slow conversion of soluble poly sulfides to insoluble sulfides.Among the easy-to-infiltrate structures,the three-dimensional-ordered macroporous（3DOM）structure is easier to scale preparation and more suitable for the existing industrial processes.However,it is difficult to obtain the 3DOM with（1） high penetrability due to the high viscosity of frequently-used organic polymer precursors and（2） high catalytic activity due to the low confinement effect,meaning that uniformly dispersed small-sized catalytic materials are difficult to load on 3DOM.Herein,using carbon dots（CDs） with both organic and inorganic properties as a precursor and aggregation limiting agent,a 3DOM host with high penetrability and homodispersed Ni particles of small sizes（Ni-CDs-3DOM）was synthesized.In this host:（1） CDs precursor with suitable viscosity can improve the penetrability.（2） CDs can effectively inhibit the agglomeration of Ni particles.（3） Uniformly dispersed small-size Ni particles offer high-efficiency catalytic activity toward sulfur reactions.Consequently,the Ni-CDs-3DOM/sulfur cathode exhibits high sulfur utilization and stable cycling performance even under high sulfur loading(5.5 mg·cm-1) and low E/S(6.5 μl·mg-1).This work indicates the usefulness of CDs in constructing hosts for LSBs with high energy density.

riterpenoids widely exist in nature,displaying a variety of pharmacological activities.Determining triterpenoids in different matrices,especially in biological samples holds great significance.High-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)has become the predominant method for triterpenoids analysis due to its exceptional analytical performance.However,due to the structural similarities among botanical samples,achieving effective separation of each triterpenoid proves challenging,necessitating significant improvements in analytical methods.Additionally,triterpenoids are characterized by a lack of ultraviolet(UV)absorption groups and chromophores,along with low ionization efficiency in mass spectrometry.Consequently,routine HPLC analysis suffers from poor sensitivity.Chemical derivatization emerges as an indispensable technique in HPLC analysis to enhance its performance.Considering the structural characteristics of triterpenoids,various derivatization reagents such as acid chlorides,rhodamines,isocyanates,sulfonic esters,and amines have been employed for the derivatization analysis of triterpenoids.This review comprehensively summarized the research progress made in derivatization strategies for HPLC detection of triterpenoids.Moreover,the limitations and challenges encountered in previous studies are discussed,and future research directions are proposed to develop more effective derivatization methods.

The impact of water quality on the formation of halogenated benzoquinones and the adsorption efficiency by activated carbon

Halogenated benzoquinones(HBQs)could cause bladder cancer,but there were few related studies on the generation and control.In this study,the impact of different precursors,pH,bromide concentration,and algae-derived organic matters on the formation of HBQs and the removal efficiency by activated carbon were investigated.It was found that the chlorination of bisphenol A produced the most 2,6-dichloro-1,4-benzoquinone(2,6-DCBQ),reaching 14.86μg/L at 1 hr,followed by tyrosine,2-chlorophenol,P-hydroxybenzoic acid,trichlorophenol,and N-methylaniline.The production of 2,6-DCBQ increased first and then decreased from 0 to 36 hr(chlorination doses 0-20 mg/L),indicating that HBQs were unstable in water.Trihalomethanes(THMs)were detected during chlorination,and the concentration increased with prolongation of reaction time.2,6-DCBQ production decreased and 2,6-dibromo-1,4-benzoquinone(2,6-DBBQ)production increased with increment bromide concentration and the bromide promoted the formation of tribromomethane.The production of 2,6-DCBQ decreased with increase of pH,and the maximum production was 141.38μg/L at pH of 5.Microcystis aeruginosa,Chlorella algae cells,and intracellular organic matters(IOM)could be chlorinated as potential precursors for HBQs.The most amount of 2,6-DCBQ was generated from algae cells of Microcystis aeruginosa,followed by Chlorella algae cells,Microcystis aeruginosa IOM,and Chlorella IOM.This study compared the removal efficiency of HBQs by granular activated carbon(GAC)and columnar activated carbon(CAC)under different carbon doses and initial concentrations of HBQs.It was found that the removal efficiency by GAC(80.1%)was higher than that by CAC(51.8%),indicating that GAC has better control for HBQs.

Due to its simplicity, high efficiency, and chemo-selectivity, bioorthogonal chemistry has shown a great application potential in pre-targeting.Currently, four bioorthogonal pairs as targeting tools, including (strept)avidin/biotin, antibody/antigen, oligonucleotide hybridization and IEDDA tools, have been developed and applied in targeted delivery.Nevertheless, all of these tools still suffer from some limitations, such as difficult modification, biochemical fragility and larger molecular weight for biological association tools, as well as chemical instability for IEDDA tools.Synthetic host-guest pairs with relatively small molecular sizes not only possess strong chemical stability, but also have the features of fast conjugation rate, tunable binding affinity , easy modification, and high chemo-selectivity.Consequently, they can be used as a novel non-covalent bioorthogonal tool for pre-targeting.In order to further promote the development of host-guest pairs as novel bioorthogonal tools for pre-targeted delivery, we firstly calculate their conversion rate to make researcher aware of their unique advantages;next, we summarize the recent research progress in this area.The future perspectives and limitations of these unique tools will be discussed.This review will provide a systemic overview of the development of synthetic host-guest pairs as novel bioorthogonal tools for pre-targeting, and may serve as a “go for” resort for researchers who are interested in searching for new synthetic tools to improve pre-targeting.

Accurate and efficient floor localization with scalable spiking graph neural networks

Floor localization is crucial for various applications such as emergency response and rescue,indoor positioning,and recommender systems.The existing floor localization systems have many drawbacks,like low accuracy,poor scalability,and high computational costs.In this paper,we first frame the problem of floor localization as one of learning node embeddings to predict the floor label of a subgraph.Then,we introduce FloorLocator,a deep learning-based method for floor localization that integrates efficient spiking neural networks with powerful graph neural networks.This approach offers high accuracy,easy scalability to new buildings,and computational efficiency.Experimental results on using several public datasets demonstrate that FloorLocator outperforms state-of-the-art methods.Notably,in building B0,FloorLocator achieved recognition accuracy of 95.9%,exceeding state-of-the-art methods by at least 10%.In building B1,it reached an accuracy of 82.1%,surpassing the latest methods by at least 4%.These results indicate FloorLocator’s superiority in multi-floor building environment localization.

There is an urgent need for novel processes that can integrate different functional nanostructures onto specific substrates,so as to meet the fast-growing need for broad applications in nanoelectronics,nanophotonics,and fexible optoelectronics.Existing direct-lithography methods are difficult to use on fexible,nonplanar,and biocompatible surfaces.Therefore,this fabrication is usually accomplished by nanotransfer printing.However,large-scale integration of multiscale nanostructures with unconventional substrates remains challenging because fabrication yields and quality are often limited by the resolution,uniformity,adhesivity,and integrity of the nanostructures formed by direct transfer.Here,we proposed a resist-based transfer strategy enabled by near-zero adhesion,which was achieved by molecular modification to attain a critical surface energy interval.This approach enabled the intact transfer of wafer-scale,ultrathin-resist nanofilms onto arbitrary substrates with mitigated cracking and wrinkling,thereby facilitating the in situ fabrication of nanostructures for functional devices.Applying this approach,fabrication of three-dimensional-stacked multilayer structures with enhanced functionalities,nanoplasmonic structures with~10 nm resolution,and MoS2-based devices with excellent performance was demonstrated on specific substrates.These results collectively demonstrated the high stability,reliability,and throughput of our strategy for optical and electronic device applications.
