Among the Chinese lakes with the problem of eutrophication, the Taihu Lake, the Chaohu Lake and the Dianchi Lake have the worst cases of blue algae outbreak, which happen every year. Other lakes also have problems of blue algae outbreak at various degrees. However, some lakes don＇t have such problems. Practices have shown that through comprehensive management, the problem can be basically eliminated or significantly alleviated. ＂Water bloom＂ and blue algae outbreak have different connotation. The major factors affecting blue algae outbreak are sources of pollutants and ecological environment. Experiences are summed up and a new thinking on its management is developed： resolving the problem of blue algae is fundamental to lake management and development goals should be clearly set forth so as to eventually build a healthy aquatic ecosys- tem. The problem of blue algae can＇t be fully tackled by solely relying on the management of eutrophication but only by combining efforts of reducing the amount of blue algae and the management of eutrophication. The number of reduced blue algae should be larger than that of naturally prolifera- ted algae so as to alleviate and eliminate the problem of blue algae outbreak. Various engineering and technical measures and relevant protective procedures should be carried out in a scientific and proper manner. The total amount of nitrogen and phosphorous entering the lake either from point-source or non-point source pollution should be substantially reduced. Controlling the source of pollution and intercepting pollutants are the bas- ic measures. Wastewater treatment plant is the largest point source pollution in the future and adequate plants should be built with improved emission standards. Meanwhile, other measures including fishing out blue algae, diverting water, dredging, ecological restoration and expanding reed zone, should be implemented to alleviate the problem of eutrophication and eventually eliminate the problem of blue algae

Metastatic Spinal Tumors: Diagnostic Methods, management and Prognosis at the Yaounde Central Hospital and Yaounde general Hospital

Introduction: Metastatic spinal tumors (MST) refer to secondary involvement of the vertebral column by hematogenously-disseminated metastatic cells. They could affect either the bony structures or the spinal cords. Mechanical instability and neurologic deficits resulting from spinal cord compression are the most common manifestations. Surgical intervention remains the most effective treatment for about 20% of patients who present with spinal cord compression. The prognosis is relatively poor. This work has as objectives to describe: the diagnostic tools, the different modalities of management and the prognostic elements of spine metastasis. Methodology: We conducted an ambispective cross-sectional descriptive study;with retrospective data collection from January 2015 to December 2021 and prospective collection from January to April 2022 in the “Neurosurgery” unit of the Yaounde Central Hospital and the “Oncology and Neurosurgery” units of Yaounde general Hospital. Result: We included 101 patients. The M/F sex ratio was 1.66. The average age of the participants was 56.44 years (±14.19 SD) with a median of 58 years. Metastatic spinal tumors were discovered in 61.39% of patients with a previously known primary tumor and 21.78% of patients had newly discovered tumors. The neurologic examination revealed a vertebral syndrome in 79.21% of cases, radicular syndrome in 60.40% and sub-lesional syndrome in 59.89%. Sensory disorders accounted for 39.60% and sphincter disorders accounted for 34.65%. According to the degree of severity, the lesions were classified as Frankel E (37.62%) followed by Frankel D (21.78%). Metastatic lesions were mostly found at the thoracic vertebrae (68.25%) and lumbar vertebrae (22.22%). The most represented primary tumors were: prostate tumors (41.58%) and breast tumors (23.76%);followed by malignant hemopathies (15.84%). Ruptured Ectopic Pregnancy: Epidemiology and management in the general Surgery Department of the Ignace Deen National Hospital, Conakry University Hospital

Introduction: The aim of this study was to contribute to improving the quality of GEUR management in the general surgery department and in the maternity ward of the Ignace Deen national hospital, Conakry University Hospital. Methodology: This was a retrospective, descriptive study lasting two years (January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2022), carried out in the general surgery and gyneco-obstetrics departments of the Ignace Deen national hospital, Conakry University Hospital. We included all patients with a ruptured ectopic pregnancy who received surgical treatment during the study period. Results: We collected 13,524 cases of surgical interventions in the two services, among them, we recorded 89 cases or 0.66% GEUR. The average age of the patients was 24.26 years. Brides were the most represented with 80.96% of cases. Women practicing a liberal profession were 51.69% (n = 46) and housewives 26.97% (n = 24). Clinically, amenorrhea was noted in all patients, i.e. 100%, abdominal-pelvic pain in 95.2% (n = 85) of cases, metrorrhagia in 94.08% (n = 84), abdominal-pelvic sensitivity in 97.44% (n = 87) of cases and anemia in 85.39% of cases. The GEUR was ampullary in 69.66% (n = 62) cases. Salpingectomy was performed in 90.72% (n = 81). The surgical outcomes were satisfactory in 98.87% (n = 88) of cases. We recorded one case of surgical site infection. We have not recorded any deaths. The average length of hospitalization was 4 days. Conclusion: GEUR is relatively high in our context. A good understanding of the prognostic factors of GEUR, awareness and family planning could reduce GEUR.

Countries face the risk of natural resource curse because of making their economic growth excessively dependent on natural *** excessive resource dependence causes such a risk,it is inevitable that resource-rich countries will need resource rent up to a certain level of economic *** the other hand,transferring the wealth achieved after this maturity level to productive investment areas also reduces the resource dependency levels of *** this context,countries that capture the possible inverted U-shaped relationship between economic growth and resource dependence can escape the *** on this,the aim of this research is to determine the validity of the Kuznets type relationship between resource dependence and economic growth for the first time in the *** nations that rely heavily on natural resources are used as a sample for *** countries with a share of total resource rent in national revenue greater than 25%are taken into consideration throughout the selection process for these *** novel panel data methodologies,the effects of capital accumulation,public spending,foreign direct investment,and economic growth on the dependence on natural resources is examined from 1993 to *** results reveal that capital accumulation reduces resource dependency while foreign investments and government size increases *** addition,the Resource-Based Kuznets curve concept is supported by empirical data demonstrating an inverted-U-shaped relationship between economic growth and resource dependence for these *** thresholds derived from the parameters show that Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan are well beyond this *** Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo,on the other hand,remain a long way from this ***,Iraq,Mongolia,Iran,and Azerbaijan have national incomes that are close at the threshold.

Background: Ovarian cysts in pregnancy are common and are usually small benign functional cysts (corpus luteum and theca-lutein cysts) that usually resolve spontaneously between 14 and 16 weeks of gestation. However, large ovarian cysts are rare in pregnancy, with an incidence of 0.2% - 2%, and most of them are benign. The first-line diagnostic modality is ultrasonography. Complications of ovarian cysts in pregnancy include miscarriage, ovarian torsion, cyst rupture, etc. Laparotomy is the treatment modality commonly used in our setting, and histopathologic diagnosis is important for the prognosis of the treatment. Case Presentation: MC is a 32-year-old G3P2002 married housewife of the Bakweri tribe who was referred to our department because of progressive abdominal discomfort and shortness of breath for 1 month’s duration. Her medical history is consistent with two normal vaginal deliveries at term and the use of implants (for contraception) until one month prior to the index pregnancy. Her booking visit was at 16 weeks gestation at a primary (missionary) healthcare facility, and she underwent ultrasonography and was diagnosed with a singleton viable intrauterine pregnancy and a simple septate cystic mass measuring 17 cm situated on top of the uterus, appearing to originate from the left ovary. She was referred to seek the expertise of an obstetrician-gynecologist, but she came to our department at 35 weeks gestation and underwent cesarean birth at 37 weeks gestation. In the pathological review, serous cystadenoma was diagnosed, and there were no positive findings in peritoneal cytology. Conclusion: The ultrasonographic diagnosis of the huge ovarian cyst in the index case was after 16 weeks gestation because of her late booking visit at 16 weeks gestation. The index case deferred referral to the obstetrician because of a lack of finances, came to our department at 35 weeks gestation because of abdominal pain that may have resulted from a torsion of the ovarian cyst

Recently,the World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology published an article entitled“Pathologically successful conversion hepatectomy for advanced giant hepatocellular carcinoma after multidisciplinary therapy:A case report and review of the literature”,in which the authors shared their successful experience with complete surgical resection after multidisciplinary conversion *** study by Chu et al demonstrates the great challenges that the advanced hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)poses to surgical oncology,reveals the complexity of conversion therapy for unresectable HCC,emphasizes the important role of a multidisciplinary management model in conversion therapy,and enriches our understanding of the dynamics of personalized treatment for different *** present,conversion therapy is a hot research topic in the treatment of unresectable HCC,which has brought new hope to many patients with moderately advanced ***,there are still many urgent problems to be solved in conversion ***,we would like to further discuss the advances and challenges of conversion therapy for unresectable HCC with the authors and the general readers.

Hematochezia due to rectal invasion by an internal iliac artery aneurysm: A case report

BACKGROUND This case report presents the rare occurrence of hematochezia due to an internal iliac artery aneurysm leading to an arterioenteric fistula,expanding the differential diagnosis for gastrointestinal *** emphasizes the importance of considering vascular origins in cases of atypical hematochezia,particularly in the absence of common gastrointestinal causes,and highlights the role of imaging and multidisciplinary management in diagnosing and treating such unusual *** SUMMARY A 75-year-old man with a history of hypertension presented with 12 d of hematochezia,experiencing bloody stools 7-8 times per *** computed tomography(CT)scans revealed an aneurysmal rupture near the right internal iliac artery with suspected hematoma *** levels progressively decreased to 7 g/*** arterial angiography and iliac arterycovered stent placement were performed,followed by balloon *** initial stabilization,minor rectal bleeding and abdominal pain persisted,leading to further diagnostic *** identified a neoplasm and potential perforation at the proximal *** exploratory laparotomy confirmed the presence of a hematoma and an aneurysm invading the rectal wall,necessitating partial rectal resection,intestinal anastomosis,and *** recovery was successful,with no further bleeding incidents and normal follow-up CT and colonoscopy results after six *** In cases of unusual gastrointestinal bleeding,it is necessary to consider vascular causes for effective diagnosis and intervention.

Price Masking Strategy of Cross-Border E-Commerce Platform Financing

E-commerce platform financing is a new service pattern of supply chain ***,this pattern may bring some new issues when considering the problem of cash flow shortage and financing difficulties of small and medium-sized *** enterprises use this service,they worry about the leakage of preferential wholesale price when applying the full loan amount and providing the true transaction *** on the model consisting of a supplier,a retailer and a cross-border e-commerce platform,the authors design a price masking strategy to prevent the retailer’s preferential wholesale price information from *** authors analyze the profit of the retailer and the platform before and after adopting the price masking *** authors find that the price masking strategy always benefits the ***,the optimal profit of the retailer and the platform are both affected by the loan interest ***,there exists a range of loan interest rates that can benefit both the retailer and the platform if the price masking strategy is *** research emphasizes that platform can expand the total business volume by allowing retailers to use price masking *** other words,there will be more and more retailers attracted by the strategy,which benefits the long-term growth of cross-border e-commerce platform financing.
