BACKGROUND Monkeypox(Mpox),is a disease of global public health concern,as it does not affect only countries in western and central *** To assess Burundi healthcare workers(HCWs)s’level of knowledge and confidence in the diagnosis and management of *** We conducted a cross-sectional study via an online survey designed mainly from the World Health Organization course distributed among Burundi HCWs from June-July *** questionnaire comprises 8 socioprofessional-related questions,22 questions about Mpox disease knowledge,and 3 questions to assess confidence in Mpox diagnosis and *** data were analyzed via SPSS software version 25.0.A P value<0.05 was considered to indicate statistical *** The study sample comprised 471 HCWs who were mainly medical doctors(63.9%)and nurses(30.1%).None of the 22 questions concerning Mpox knowledge had at least 50%correct responses.A very low number of HCWs(17.4%)knew that Mpox has a *** confidence level to diagnose(21.20%),treat(18.00%)or prevent(23.30%)Mpox was low among *** confidence level in the diagnosis of Mpox was associated with the HCWs’age(P value=0.009),sex(P value<0.001),work experience(P value=0.002),and residence(P value<0.001).The confidence level to treat Mpox was significantly associated with the HCWs’age(P value=0.050),sex(P value<0.001),education(P value=0.033)and occupation(P value=0.005).The confidence level to prevent Mpox was associated with the HCWs’education(P value<0.001),work experience(P value=0.002),residence(P value<0.001)and type of work institution(P value=0.003).CONCLUSION This study revealed that HCWs have the lowest level of knowledge regarding Mpox and a lack of confidence in the ability to diagnose,treat or prevent *** is an urgent need to organize continuing medical education programs on Mpox epidemiology and preparedness for Burundi *** encourage future researchers to assess potential hesitancy toward Mpox vaccination and its asso

Depression in End Stage Renal Disease： Comparison Between Patients Treated with Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis

Investigation of depression prevalence in end stage renal disease （ESRD） patients treated with two different methods, hemodialysis （HD） and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis （CAPD） is conducted. We investigated whether the dialysis adequacy （Kt/v） and serum hemoglobin level had any correlation with depression severity. Psychiatric interview was performed on 30 HD and 30 CAPD patients. Hamilton depression rating scale （HAMD） was used to evaluate depression symptoms. Kt/v and serum hemoglobin level were detected. Half of HD patients were depressive, while depression wasn＇t found in any CAPD patient. Hemoglobin was in positive correlation with the HAMD, while Kt/v was in negative correlation with the HAMD. Patients on CAPD had less depressive symptoms. Good dialysis adequacy diminish depressive symptoms.

Serum HER2 as a predictive biomarker for tissue HER2 status and prognosis in patients with gastric cancer

AIM To investigate the association between serum human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2) extracellular domain(ECD) and tissue HER2 status, and the prognostic value of serum HER2 ECD in patients with gastric *** A total of 239 patients with gastric cancer were enrolled from December 2012 to June 2013. Serum HER2 ECD was determined by chemiluminescent assay, and tissue HER2 status was evaluated by immunohistochemistry and fluorescence in situ hybridization assay. A receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve was plotted to identify the optimal cut-off value for serum HER2 ECD assay for predicting survival in gastric cancer *** Serum HER2 ECD was significantly correlated with tissue HER2 status(P < 0.001), tumor size(P < 0.001), and intestinal type of gastric cancer(P =0.021). Serum HER2 ECD levels differed significantly between patients with HER2-positive tissue expression and those with HER2-negative tissue expression. ROC analysis yielded an area under the curve value of 0.79(95%CI: 0.71-0.87, P < 0.001), with a sensitivity and specificity of 0.54(95%CI: 0.37-0.70) and 0.93(95%CI: 0.88-0.96), respectively. With a cut-off value of 24.75 ng/m L, high serum HER2 ECD had a negative impact on overall survival of the patients(HR: 1.93, 95%CI: 1.32-4.38, P = 0.006). CONCLUSION Serum HER2 ECD could be a highly specific surrogate biomarker for tissue HER2 status in gastric cancer. Optimal cut-off criteria for predicting survival should be established.

Bibliometric profile of neurogenic bladder in the literature:a 20-year bibliometric analysis

Neurogenic bladder is a dysfunction of the lower urinary tract caused by nervous system disor- der. We investigated the trends in publication of articles under the topic ＂neurogenic bladder＂ using bibliometric analysis. Articles on neurogenic bladder, published between 1995 and 2014, were retrieved from the ISI Web of Science citation database. We analyzed the search results for authors, countries, institutions, journals, and top-cited papers. A total of 1,904 articles were re- trieved. There was a small increase in the number of articles on neurogenic bladder from 1995 （n = 43） to 2014 （n = 117）. The USA was the leading country in the total number of articles （n = 598）. However, the number of publications from China has rapidly increased, and China was ranked second in 2014. Emmanuel Chartier-Kastler （n = 65） was the most productive author, and University of Paris VI （Paris 6）（n = 61） was the most productive institution. The Journal of Urology published the greatest number of artides on this topic （n = 285）. Articles on neurogenic bladder were often published in a professional journal under the category Urology ＆ Nephrology, Neurosciences ＆ Neurology, or Rehabilitation. Visualization analysis based on co-citation networks was conducted using CiteSpace III. Visualization analysis revealed that the hot spots in neurogenic bladder were botulinum toxin-A, prazosin, bethanechol, and afferent pathways. These findings provide new insight into the publication trends and hot spots in neurogenic bladder.

Overexpression of carbonic anhydrase Ⅱ and Ki-67 proteins in prognosis of gastrointestinal stromal tumors

AIM: To investigate the expression and prognostic value of carbonic anhydrase Ⅱ (CA Ⅱ) and Ki-67 in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs). METHODS: One hundred and thirteen GIST patients admitted to Chinese People's Liberation Army general hospital from January 2004 to December 2010 were retrospectively followed up, and immunohistochemistry was used to detect CA Ⅱ, Ki-67 and CD117 expression in tumor samples. The survival rates of the patients were analyzed using the Kaplan-Meier method. Log-rank test, χ 2 test and Cox proportional hazards model were used to determine the relationships between CA Ⅱ, Ki-67 and CD117 expression and prognostic value in GISTs. RESULTS: The survival rates at 1, 3 and 5 years were 90.0%, 82.0% and 72.0% in all patients. However, in patients with positive CA Ⅱ or Ki-67, the survival rates were 92.0%, 83.0% and 77.0% or 83.0%, 66.6% and 53.0%, respectively. Compared with the negative groups, the survival rates in the positive groups were significantly lower (CA Ⅱ log-rankP = 0.000; Ki-67 logrank P = 0.004). Multivariate Cox analysis revealed that CA Ⅱ, CD117 and Ki-67 were considerable immune factors in prognosis of GIST patients (CA Ⅱ P = 0.043; CD117 P = 0.042; Ki-67 P = 0.007). Besides, tumor diameter, mitotic rate, tumor site, depth of invasion, complete resection, intraoperative rupture, and adjuvant therapy were important prognosis predictive factors. Our study indicated that CA Ⅱ had strong expression in GISTs and the prognosis of GISTs with high CA Ⅱ expression was better than that of GISTs with low or no expression, suggesting that CA Ⅱ is both a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for GIST. CONCLUSION: CA Ⅱ and Ki-67 are significant prognostic factors for GISTs. CA Ⅱ associated with neovascular endothelia could serve as a potential target for cancer therapy.

Clinical Research of Acupuncture on Malignant Tumor Patients for Improving Depression and Sleep Quality

Objective:To study the effect of acupuncture on depression and insomnia of malignant tumor ***:Eighty cases of cancer related depression and sleep disorders were randomly divided into 2 groups:treatmentl group(acupuncture n=40) and control group(Fluoxetione n=40).All patients were assessed by Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS),Hemilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI) after treatment for 30 ***:Before treatment the SDS and HAMD scores of the trial group were 64.12±5.34 and 20.92±2.38,those of the control group were 64.24±4.98 and 20.72±2.74,after treatment the SDS and HAMD scores of the trial group were 43.64±5.28 and 9.88±1.27 respectively,significantly lower than those of the control group(50.76±5.42 and 13.72±2.05 respectively,both P<0.05).Before treatment the PSQI score of the trial group and the control group were 14.48±1.71 and13.92±2.59,after treatment the PSQI score of the trial group was 7.92±1.22 after treatment,significantly lower than those of the control group(11.44±1.89,P<0.01).Conclusion:Acupuncture can effectively reduce malignant-related depression,improve sleep quality,and help to improve the quality of life of cancer patients.

Nerve autografts and tissue-engineered materials for the repair of peripheral nerve injuries: a 5-year bibliometric analysis

With advances in biomedical methods, tissue-engineered materials have developed rapidly as an alternative to nerve autografts for the repair of peripheral nerve injuries. However, the materials selected for use in the repair of peripheral nerve injuries, in particular multiple injuries and largegap defects, must be chosen carefully. Various methods and materials for protecting the healthy tissue and repairing peripheral nerve injuries have been described, and each method or material has advantages and disadvantages. Recently, a large amount of research has been focused on tissue-engineered materials for the repair of peripheral nerve injuries. Using the keywords ＂peripheral nerve injury＂, ＂autotransplant＂, ＂nerve graft＂, and ＂biomaterial＂, we retrieved publications using tissue-engineered materials for the repair of peripheral nerve injuries appearing in the Web of Science from 2010 to 2014. The country with the most total publications was the USA. The institutions that were the most productive in this field include Hannover Medical School （Germany）, Washington University （USA）, and Nantong University （China）. The total number of publications using tissue-engineered materials for the repair of peripheral nerve injuries grad- ually increased over time, as did the number of Chinese publications, suggesting that China has made many scientific contributions to this field of research.

Pancreatic insulinoma:current issues and trends

BACKGROUND:Although insulinomas are very rare tumors, they are the most common pancreatic neuroendocrine *** incidence in general population is 1-4 per 1 000 000 yearly but the incidence is higher in autopsy studies. The malignancy of insulinomas is difficult to be predicted on the basis of their histological features,and the current WHO classification has been *** review aimed to summarize classical knowledge with current trends in the diagnosis and treatment of insulinomas. DATA SOURCES:A Medline search using terms'insulinoma', 'treatment'and'neuroendocrine tumors'was conducted. Additional references were sourced from key articles. RESULTS:Surgery is the treatment of choice for insulinoma and has an extremely high success *** treatment is also available but only for patients who are unable or unwilling to undergo surgical *** localization is necessary for planning the surgical *** methods exist for localization of an insulinoma and can be invasive and *** combination of biphasic thin section helical CT and endoscopic ultrasonography(EUS)has an almost 100% sensitivity in localizing *** ultrasound is mandatory to localize intraoperatively these ***-guided fine needle tattoing is an alternative method of localization in case of lack of laparoscopic ultrasound. CONCLUSION:Laparoscopic resection for benign insulinomas is the procedure of choice,whereas pancreatectomy is reserved for large,potentially malignant tumors.
