The paper presents the implementation of a parallel version of FDK (Felkamp, David e Kress) algorithm using graphics processing units. Discussion was briefly some elements the computed tomographic scan and FDK algorithm; and some ideas about GPUs (Graphics Processing Units) and its use in general purpose computing were presented. The paper shows a computational implementation of FDK algorithm and the process of parallelization of this implementation. Compare the parallel version of the algorithm with the sequential version, used speedup as a performance metric. To evaluate the performance of parallel version, two GPUs, GeForce 9400GT (16 cores) a low capacity GPU and Quadro 2000 (192 cores) a medium capacity GPU was reached speedup of 3.37.

A Novel Approach for the Identification of Morphological Features from Low Quality images

In this paper, a novel mathematical morphological approach is proposed, which is combined with an active threshold-based method for the identification of morphological features from images with poor qualities. The algorithm is very fast and needs low computing ***, a mixed smooth filtering is designed to remove background noises. Second, an active threshold-based method is discussed to create a binary image to achieve rough segmentation. Third, some simple morphological operations, such as opening, closing, filling, and so on, are designed and applied to get the final result of segmentation. After morphological analysis, morphological features, such as contours, areas, numbers, locations, and so on, are obtained. Finally, the comparisons with other conventional methods validate the effectiveness, and an additional experimental result proves the repeatability of the proposed method.

The condensation process of dew droplets is influenced by many factors. Adew point condensation image observation system was built to improve the responsespeed of dew point detector under different measuring conditions. The basic mechanismof dew drop condensation growth was studied and the influence of various factors on thedew drop growth rate were analyzed. And the accuracy of the influence results wasverified based on the improved Hough transform circle detection. The results show thatthe growth rate of dew droplets is affected by ambient temperature, dew pointtemperature, mirror temperature and air velocity. The observed variation of the averageradius of dew droplets is consistent with the theoretical calculations. The maximumradius error is less than 4 μm, the initial error is larger, and the error oscillates in themiddle and late stages of condensation. The establishment of condensation mechanism ishelpful to solve the problem in fast determination of dew point temperature under thecold start of dew point meter, and to improve the response speed.
