Effects of different organic fertilizers on nitrous oxide and methane emissions from double-cropping rice fields

Rice fields are a major source of greenhouse gases,such as nitrous oxide (N_(2)O) and methane (CH_(4)).Organic fertilizers may potentially replace inorganic fertilizers to meet the nitrogen requirement for rice growth;however,the simultaneous effects of organic fertilizers on N_(2)O and CH_(4)emissions and crop yield in paddy fields remain poorly understood and *** this study,experimental plots were established in co.ventional double-cropping paddy fields in the Pearl River Delta,China,including an unfertilized co.trol and five fertilizer treatments with fresh organic fertilizer (FOF),successively co.posted organic fertilizer (SOF),chemically co.posted organic fertilizer (co.),co. supplemented with inorganic fertilizer (co.F),and chemical fertilizers (CFs)(TFOF,TSOF,Tco.,Tco.F,and TCF,respectively).Paddy field soils behaved simultaneously as an N_(2)O sink (cumulative N_(2)O emission:-196 to-381 g N ha^(-1)) and as a CH_(4)source (cumulative CH_(4)emission:719 to 2 178 kg ha^(-1)).co.pared to CFs,the effects of organic fertilizers on N_(2)O emission were not *** co.trast,total annual CH_(4)emission increased by 157%,132%,125%,and 37%in TFOF,Tco.,TSOF,and Tco.F,respectively,co.pared to *** Tco.F,rice yield was maintained,while CH_(4)emission was not significantly increased from the paddy fields characterized by a prolonged flood *** important next step is to extend these field-based measurements to larger rice cultivation areas to quantify the regional and national-scale impacts on greenhouse gas emissions and to help determine the optimum practice for fertilizer use.

Review of Matrix Aluminas for Refractory Formulations

Historically,ground calcined aluminas were the first high-alumina matrix products that were used in refractory formulations, in both shaped and unshaped products. At that time the flow properties of castables were enhanced by the use of silica fume. This was followed later by the development of fully ground reactive aluminas which co.tributed to the design of the matrix below 63 μm. In addition to aggregate fines,a range of bi-modal and multi-modal reactive aluminas were also developed. These not only gave improved physical properties but also better castable workability. This paper reviews matrix alumina developments over time,from basic ground calcines to co.plex multi-modal matrix products and their globally standardised manufacture.

Application of New Calcium Aluminate Cement CA-670 in Low Cement Castables

A new calcium aluminate cement CA-670 was studied in the system of tabular alumina, white fused alumina （WFA）, and bauxite based low cement castables. The flow ability, strength development, and hot strength （ HMOR ） were investigated. Different types of additives were used for the CA-670 bonded castables. The results show CA-670 provides a good workability for each type of＂ castables. CA-670 displays a good co.patibility with different types of additives. Testing on different batches of CA-670 shows good reproducible properties in each castable, which manifests good co.sistency and reliability of CA-670.

Weight regain after intragastric balloon for pre-surgical weight loss

With BrazeTec BlueBraze the manufacturers in HVACR industry have an alternative filler metal with 10 weight-% less silver but same brazing temperatures. The performance of these new alloys has been evaluated in several tests. The evaluation included wetting investigations, metallographic examinations, joint strength at different temperatures and pulsation and co.rosion resistance. The results of these tests will be presented in this paper.

＜正＞ Creating low gloss or matt effects in traditional solvent- and water-borne co.tings presents no great technical problems using specially designed matting agents. In co.trast, creating a matt effect in a 100% solids system, such as a UV co.ting, where the important film shrinkage factor is absent, provides the formulator with co.siderable *** spite of this, good matting has been shown to be achievable using specially developed matting agents. However, success in achieving the desirable appearance in a reproducible quality is as much dependent on the formulation co.ponents, the application parameters and even the substrate, as on the choice of matting *** paper presents selected parameters and their impact on the gloss of matt UV lacquers.

Electrochemical impedance spectrosco.y(EIS) is a well-established non-destructive characterization technique for assessing the efficacy of electrochemical energy storage and co.version systems. Electrocatalytic systems based on proton exchange membrane(PEM), including PEM fuel cells and PEM water electrolyzers, play a crucial role in renewable energy co.version through electricity–hydrogen interco.version. EIS, along with its derived analysis methods—equivalent circuit model(ECM), distribution of relaxation time(DRT), and dynamic EIS(DEIS), is widely utilized to extract valuable kinetics and impedance *** acquired information affords critical insights into processes such as mass transfer, charge transfer, and proton transfer within PEM systems. This mini review surveys the role of EIS in optimizing co.ponents and investigating operational co.ditions to enhance the efficiency of PEM systems. In addition, it encapsulates the principles and applications of EIS-based methods like DRT and DEIS, highlighting their potential in the practical application of PEM systems.

Many animals and plants have high potential to serve as co.cept generators for developing biomimetic materials and structures. We present some ideas based on structural and functional properties of plants and animals that led to the development of two types ofbiomimetic cable entry systems.
