This experiment aimed to evaluate the impact of dietary hydroxyproline(Hyp) supplementation on the muscle quality of juvenile Pacific white shrimp(Litopenaeus vannamei) fed a low fishmeal diet. Six formulated diets included one high fishmeal(HF; 25% fishmeal content) and five low fishmeal diets(10%fishmeal content) with 0%, 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.6% and 0.8% Hyp(LF0, LF2, LF4, LF6 and LF8, respectively). Each diet was assigned to four replicates, and 40 shrimp(0.32 ± 0.00 g) per replicate were fed four times a day for 8 weeks. Dietary Hyp supplementation had little effects on growth performance, but increased the contents of Hyp, prolyl 4-hydroxylases(P4Hs), and collagen. The meat yield, springiness, hardness,chewiness, and cohesiveness of muscle were the highest in the LF4 group among the low fishmeal groups(P < 0.05). Cooking loss and freezing loss of muscle were the lowest in the LF4 group(P < 0.05). Dietary supplementation with 0.4% Hyp increased the myofiber density and decreased the myofiber diameter of muscle(P < 0.05). Supplementation of Hyp in the diet up-regulated the mRNA expression of smyhc5,smyhc15, col1a1, col1a2, igf-1f, tgf-β and tor and down-regulated the mRNA expression of smyhc1, smyhc2,smyhc6a(P < 0.05). Supplementation of Hyp in the diet up-regulated the protein expression of P-4E-BP1,P-AKT, AKT and P-AKT/AKT(P < 0.05). These results suggested that the addition of 0.4% Hyp to low fishmeal diets improved the muscle quality of L. vannamei.

Antinutritional factors in feedstuffs may limit their utilization in livestock production,but fermentation process can be used to improve feed quality;however,studies on fermented soybeans for laying hens remain *** investigated the effect of fermented soybean meal(FSBM)at various inclusion levels as a partial replacement for soybean meal(SBM)on egg production,egg quality,amino acid digestibility,gut morphology and microbiota,antioxidant capacity and immune response of young laying hens.A total of 360 Hy-line Brown laying hens aged 18 weeks were selected and divided into 5 groups of 6 replicates each and 12 birds per *** control group received a basal diet while the trial group received the basal diet with FSBM included at 2.5%,5.0%,7.5%and 10.0%,respectively,for 12 *** findings revealed that the nutritional value of FSBM was higher compared to that of SBM in terms of reduced content of trypsin inhibitors and increased contents of crude protein,amino acids and *** enhanced egg production(Pfeed-to-egg ratio(P<0.05),and albumen quality(albumen height and Haugh unit)(P<0.05).Furthermore,FSBM improved apparent fecal amino acid digestibility(P<0.05),gut morphology(increased villus height,villus width,villus height-to-crypt depth ratio and decreased crypt depth)(P<0.05),antioxidant capacity(reduced malondialdehyde and increased catalase,total superoxide dismutase,glutathione peroxidase and total antioxidant capacity)(P<0.05)and immune function(increased concentrations of IgG,IgA,and IgM;increased levels of transforming growth factor beta and Toll-like receptor 2;and reduced levels of interleukin 1βand tumor necrosis factor alpha)(P<0.05).Further analysis showed that FSBM altered the composition of the gut microbiota favoring beneficial *** findings suggest that probiotic fermentation improved the nutritional value of *** inclusion of FSBM in the diets of laying hens at 2.5%or 5.0%improved amino acid digestibility,gut

Finding out how diet impacts health and metabolism while concentrating on the functional qualities and bioactive components of food is the crucial scientific objective of nutritional research. The complex relationship between metabolism and nutrition could be investigated with cutting-edge "omics" and bioinformatics techniques. This review paper provides an overview of the use of omics technologies in nutritional research, with a particular emphasis on the new applications of transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and genomes in functional and biological activity research on ruminant livestock and products in the tropical regions. A wealth of knowledge has been uncovered regarding the regulation and use of numerous physiological and pathological processes by gene, m RNA, protein, and metabolite expressions under various physiological situations and guidelines. In particular, the components of meat and milk were assessed using omics research utilizing the various methods of transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and genomes. The goal of this review is to use omics technologies—which have been steadily gaining popularity as technological tools—to develop new nutritional, genetic, and leadership strategies to improve animal products and their quality control. We also present an overview of the new applications of omics technologies in cattle production and employ nutriomics and foodomics technologies to investigate the microbes in the rumen ecology. Thus, the application of state-of-the-art omics technology may aid in our understanding of how species and/or breeds adapt, and the sustainability of tropical animal production, in the long run, is becoming increasingly important as a means of mitigating the consequences of climate change.

Nutrition strategies to control post-weaning diarrhea of piglets: From the perspective of feeds

Post-weaning diarrhea(PWD) is a globally significant threat to the swine industry. Historically, antibiotics as well as high doses of zinc oxide and copper sulfate have been commonly used to control ***, the development of bacterial resistance and environmental pollution have created an interest in alternative strategies. In recent years, the research surrounding these alternative strategies and the mechanisms of piglet diarrhea has been continually updated. Mechanically, diarrhea in piglets is a result of an imbalance in intestinal fluid and electrolyte absorption and secretion. In general, enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli(ETEC) and diarrheal viruses are known to cause an imbalance in the absorption and secretion of intestinal fluids and electrolytes in piglets, resulting in diarrhea when Cl secretion-driven fluid secretion surpasses absorptive capacity. From a perspective of feedstuffs, factors that contribute to imbalances in fluid absorption and secretion in the intestines of weaned piglets include high levels of crude protein(CP), stimulation by certain antigenic proteins, high acid-binding capacity(ABC), and contamination with deoxynivalenol(DON) in the diet. In response, efforts to reduce CP levels in diets,select feedstuffs with lower ABC values, and process feedstuffs using physical, chemical, and biological approaches are important strategies for alleviating PWD in piglets. Additionally, the diet supplementation with additives such as vitamins and natural products can also play a role in reducing the diarrhea incidence in weaned piglets. Here, we examine the mechanisms of absorption and secretion of intestinal fluids and electrolytes in piglets, summarize nutritional strategies to control PWD in piglets from the perspective of feeds, and provide new insights towards future research directions.

Microencapsulated Lactobacillus plantarum promotes intestinal development through gut colonization of layer chicks

The effects of Lactobacillus plantarum in microencapsulation(LPM)on intestinal development in layer chicks were investigated in this study,as well as the colonization of *** in the gut.A total of 480 healthy Hy-Line Brown layer chicks at 0 d old were randomly divided into 4 groups(8 replicates each treatment),and the diets of these birds were supplemented with nothing(control),***(0.02 g/kg feed;109 CFU/kg feed),LPM(1.0 g/kg feed;109 CFU/kg feed)and wall material of LPM(WM;0.98 g/kg feed),*** to control,LPM improved growth performance and intestinal development of layer chicks,evidenced by significantly increased body weight,average daily gain,average daily feed intake,villus height,villus height/crypt depth,as well as weight and length of the duodenum,jejunum and ileum(P<0.05).These results could be attributed to the increased colonization of *** in the gut,which was verified by significant increases in lactic acid content,viable counts in chyme and mucosa(P<0.05),as well as a visible rise in number of strains labeled with fluorescein ***,the relative abundances of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium significantly increased in response to microencapsulated *** supplementation(P<0.05),accompanied by the significant up-regulation of colonization related genes(P<0.05),encoding solute carrier family,monocarboxylate transporter,activin A receptor,succinate receptor and secretogranin *** sum up,microencapsulated *** supplementation promoted intestinal development,which could be attributed to the enhancement of *** colonization in the intestine through the mutual assistance of Bifidobacterium and interactions with colonization related transmembrane proteins.
