Diplomatic Discourse Analysis:Translating and Reconstructing“Zhengqueyiliguan”in China-Africa Relations

China's diplomatic discourse is a complicated system underpinned by divergent *** such,the concept of"Zhengque Yi Li Guan"(ZhèngquèYìLìGuān in Pinyin),like numerous other Chinese concepts,is not well *** could be due to the dearth of a uniform official translation and inconsistent ***,this paper seeks to draw awareness to this vital issue that has been neglected in the China-Africa diplomatic *** a way of filling this gap in the literature,the author argues that literal translation is not enough in diplomatic *** of Chinese classical works from texts and dictionaries were carried out to identify the equivalent English words for"Zhengque,""Yi,""Li,"and"Guan."Based on the scope of this paper,emphasis will be placed on"Yi"because it plays a critical role in the"ZhèngquèYìLìGuān"concept and has been the term with the most controversial *** paper uses the critical discourse analysis(CDA)method as its theoretical *** author contends that"justice"(meaning impartiality)is a preferable translation for"Yi"while"interests"is fit for"Li."The article also suggests that"Yi"should be reconceptualized using three approaches:the strategic partnership approach,the international approach,and the regional approach,to represent the realities of current China-Africa relations.

Background Araucaria araucana is a mast species that presents a high variability in annual cone production. Researchers have recorded synchronization events in cone production in different populations, which allows the seed production to be concentrated, reducing the percentage of seeds consumed by different animal *** We sampled three populations located in the Andes Mountains, Araucanía Region, Chile. In 2004 we began the collection of data on cone production, for which we installed permanent plots（1200 m2each） at each location. We identified and labeled each female tree in each plot to monitor its cone production. In 2012 we selected a total of 30 trees near the plots to evaluate the number of seeds per cone. In each February from 2012 to 2014 we selected two mature cones and covered them with a porous mesh for subsequent collection and storage in March. At the beginning of June, we counted and weighed the seeds, determining the average weight, the number of seeds per cone, the germination capacity（GC）, and the germination speed（GS）.Results Cone production was synchronous across the three locations. We observed significant differences among the locations and years evaluated. The cones had fewer seeds in 2013（high production） compared to those in 2012（low production）, but their weights were similar. In 2014 the cones produced smaller seeds in fewer quantities. The difference between the years 2013 and 2014 resulted from the high-energy expenditure in 2013. Regarding GC and GS, there were significant differences among the three locations（GC: F = 45.41, p < 0.01; GS: F = 96.08, p < 0.01）, where the highest values were observed in *** Both GC and GS are related to seed weight but not to the number of cones produced in a given year. The rich chemical constituents and diverse pharmacological properties of Ramulus Mori(RM) or the twig of Morus alba with evidence supported by clinical trials and patents are reviewed. Known as Sangzhi in Chinese, RM is widely used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat gout, arthritis, and rheumatism. Chemical constituents include flavonoids, benzofurans, alkaloids, stilbenes, chalcones, phenolic acids, and coumarins. Bioactivities of RM include antidiabetic, anti-obesity, anti-inflammatory, antityrosinase, neuroprotective, antioxidant, hepatoprotective, cytoprotective, renoprotective, antihyperuricemic, analgesic, antifungal, DNA protective, anticancer, gastroprotective, cardioprotective, anti-hair aging, anti-arthritic, and antiplatelet aggregation properties. The most active compounds from RM are mulberrin, oxyresveratrol, and mulberroside A. All four clinical trials on RM are focused on the treatment of diabetes. The patents entail using RM extracts as cosmetics for skin whitening and as agents for hypoglycemia. Topics for further research on RM are suggested.

Sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)are required to possess long cycle life when used for large-scale energy *** polyanionic Na_(4)MnV(PO_(4))_(3)(NMVP)reveals good cyclic stability due to its unique three-dimensional(3D)frame structure,but it still faces the challenge of interfacial degradation in practical *** this work,NASICON-type Na_(1.3)Al_(0.7)Ti_(1.3)(PO_(4))_(3)(NATP)was deposited on the surface of NMVP to promote interface stability by surface modification and gradient *** a result,the optimized NMVP@2%NATP released a capacity retention of 44.8%after 1000 cycles at 5 C,much higher than that of the initial NMVP(28.9%).The enhanced electrochemical performance was mainly attributed to NATP coating acting as a fast ion transport carrier and physical barrier,significantly facilitating the Na^(+)diffusion and isolating side reaction at the electrode/electrolyte *** the other hand,Ti_(4)^(+)and Al^(3+)cations from the NATP were partially doped inside the NMVP surface to boost the transport of Na^(+),and the perfect lattice matching of NVMP and NATP improved the interface and structural stability accompanying long *** work demonstrated the effectiveness of surface modification with high lattice match material and provided new perspectives for high energy density solid-state SIBs.

In standard iris recognition systems,a cooperative imaging framework is employed that includes a light source with a near-infrared wavelength to reveal iris texture,look-and-stare constraints,and a close distance requirement to the capture *** these conditions are relaxed,the system’s performance significantly deteriorates due to segmentation and feature extraction ***,a novel segmentation algorithm is proposed to correctly detect the pupil and limbus boundaries of iris images captured in unconstrained ***,the algorithm scans the whole iris image in the Hue Saturation Value(HSV)color space for local maxima to detect the sclera *** image quality is then assessed by computing global features in red,green and blue(RGB)space,as noisy images have heterogeneous *** iris images are accordingly classified into seven categories based on their global RGB *** the classification process,the images are filtered,and adaptive thresholding is applied to enhance the global contrast and detect the outer iris ***,to characterize the pupil area,the algorithm scans the cropped outer ring region for local minima values to identify the darkest area in the iris *** experimental results show that our method outperforms existing segmentation techniques using the UBIRIS.v1 and v2 databases and achieved a segmentation accuracy of 99.32 on UBIRIS.v1 and an error rate of 1.59 on UBIRIS.v2.
