Petrogenesis and Ore Genesis of the Late Yanshanian Granites and Associated Porphyry-Skarn W-Mo Deposits from the Yunkai Area of South China： Evidence from the Zircon U-Pb Ages, Hf Isotopes and Sulfide S-Fe Isotopes

There are a wide range of magmatism and mineralization in the Yunkai area of South China during the Late Yanshanian Period, including the newly discovered Michang, Youmapo, Sanchaehong and Songwang porphyry-skarn W-Mo deposits. In this study, we obtained zircon U-Pb ages of the ore-bearing biotite granites and their mafic enclaves from 884-1 to 1104-1 Ma. Zircons from the granites show Hf isotopic compositions with negative C-Hf（t） values of -5.9 to -0.6 and calculated Hf model ages （TvM2） of 1.5-1.2 Ga; indicating that the Middle Proterozoic crustal materials may have provided an important source for the magmatic rocks in this district during the Late Yanshanian Period, whereas zircons from the mafic enclaves show positive era（t） values of 1.3 to 10.1 with younger Hf model ages （TDM2） of 0.5-1.1 Ga, suggesting a mantle component may have involved in the granitic magma generation. Sulfur isotope study of the sulfide minerals from the W-Mo deposits show a narrow 834S distribution with most data ranging from -4.2%0 to 5.2‰. In addition, this study reports the first Fe isotopic compositions of pyrite in the W-Mo deposits, which show a uniform distribution range with the values near zero （656Fe=0.16‰-0.58‰, average 0.35‰; 657Fe=0.02‰-0.54‰, average 0.48‰）. These data indicate that the ore-forming materials may come from the deep-sourced granitic magma, and the mineralizations show a close relationship with the granitic magmatism during the Late Yanshanian Period. Combining with previous results, we suggest that there is a widespread porphyry-skarn W-Mo mineralization in the Yunkai area during the Late Cretaceous （80-110 Ma）, which has a close relationship with the Late Yanshanian magmatism that may have formed during the rollback of the subducted Pacific Plate.

The Ain El Bey abandoned mine, in North-West Tunisia, fits into the geodynamic context of the European and African plate boundary. Ore deposit corresponds to veins and breccia of multiphase Cu–Fe-rich mineralization related to various hydrothermal fluid circulations. Petromineralogical studies indicate a rich mineral paragenesis with a minimum of seven mineralization phases and, at least, six pyrite generations. As is also the case for galena and native silver, native gold is observed for the first time as inclusion in quartz which opens up, thus, new perspectives for prospecting and evaluating the potential for noble metals associated with the mineralization. Scanning Electron Microscope--Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy and Transmission electron microscopy analyses show, in addition, a large incorporation of trace elements, including Ag and Au, in mineral structures such as fahlores(tetrahedrite-tennantite) and chalcopyrite ones. The mineral/mineral associations, used as geothermometers, gave estimated temperatures for the mineralizing fluids varying from 254 to 330 ℃ for phase Ⅲ, from 254 to 350 ℃ for phase Ⅳ, and from 200 to 300 ℃ for phases Ⅴ and Ⅵ. The seventh and last identified mineralization phase, marked by a deposit of native gold, reflects a drop in the mineralizing fluid’s temperature(< 200 ℃) compatible with boiling conditions. Such results open up perspectives for the development of precious metal research and the revaluation of the Cu–Fe ore deposit at the Ain El Bey abandoned mine, as well as at the surrounding areas fitting in the geodynamic framework of the Africa-Europe plate boundary.

Origin and evolution of ore-forming fluid for the Gaosongshan gold deposit, Lesser Xing’an Range:Evidence from fluid inclusions,H-O-S-Pb isotopes

Epithermal gold deposits are typical precious metal deposits related to volcanic and subvolcanic *** to the lack of direct geological and petrographic evidences,the origin of the ore-forming fluid is deduced from the spatial diagenesis-mineralization relationship,chronological data,physicochemical characteristics of mineral fluid inclusions,mineral or rock elements and isotopic geochemical *** objectively examining this scientific problem via a geological field survey and petrographic analysis of the Gaosongshan epithermal gold deposit,we recently discovered and verified the following points:(1) Pyrite-bearing spherical quartz aggregates (PSQA) occur in the rhyolitic porphyry;(2) the mineralization is structurally dominated by WNW- and ENE-trending systems and occurs mostly in hydrothermal breccias and pyrite-quartz veins,and the ore types are mainly hematite-crusted quartz,hydrothermal breccia,massive pyrite-quartz,etc.;(3) the alteration types consist of prevalent silicification,sericitization,propylitization and carbonation,with local adularization and *** ore minerals are mainly pyrite,primary hematite,native gold,and electrum,with lesser amounts of chalcopyrite,magnetite,sphalerite,and galena,indicating a characteristic epithermal low-sulfidation *** ore-forming fluid may have been primarily derived from magmatic fluid exsolved from a crystallizing rhyolitic porphyry *** zircon U-Pb geochronology,fluid inclusion,physicochemical and isotopic geochemical analyses revealed that (1) rhyolitic porphyry magmatism occurred at 104.6 ± 1.0 Ma,whereas the crystallization of the PSQA occurred at 100.8 ± 2.1 Ma;(2) the hydrothermal fluid of the pre-ore stage was an exsolved CO2-bearing H2O-NaCl magmatic fluid that produced inclusions mainly composed of pure vapor (PV),vapor-rich (WV) and liquid-rich (WL) inclusions with a small number of melt-(M) and solid-bearing (S) inclusions;mineralization-stage quartz contains WL

Simulation of Underground Reservoir Stability of Pumped Storage Power Station Based on Fluid-Structure Coupling

Based on global initiatives such as the clean energy transition and the development of renewable energy,the pumped storage power station has become a new and significant way of energy storage and regulation,and its construction environment is more complex than that of a traditional *** particular,the stability of the rock strata in the underground reservoirs is affected by the seepage pressure and rock stress,which presents some challenges in achieving engineering safety and *** the advantages of the numerical simulation method in dealing deal with nonlinear problems in engineering stability,in this study,the stability of the underground reservoir of the Shidangshan(SDS)pumped storage power station was numerically calculated and quantitatively analyzed based on fluid-structure coupling theory,providing an important reference for the safe operation and management of the underground ***,using the COMSOL software,a suitablemechanicalmodel was created in accordance with the geological structure and project characteristics of the underground ***,the characteristics of the stress field,displacement field,and seepage field after excavation of the underground reservoir were simulated in light of the seepage effect of groundwater on the nearby rock of the underground ***,based on the construction specifications and Molar-Coulomb criterion,a thorough evaluation of the stability of the underground reservoir was performed through simulation of the filling and discharge conditions and anti-seepage strengthening *** findings demonstrate that the numerical simulation results have a certain level of reliability and are in accordance with the stress measured in the project *** underground reservoir excavation resulted in a maximum displacement value of the rock mass around the caverns of 3.56 mm in a typical section,and the safety coefficient of the parts,as determined using the Molar-Coulomb criterion,was highe

Early Permian Sunidyouqi suprasubduction-zone ophiolites in the central Solonker suture zone(Inner Mongolia, China)

Different final closing ages have been proposed for the evolution of the Paleo-Asian Ocean(PAO),including Late Silurian, pre-Late Devonian, Early Permian, Late-Permian and Late Permian-Early *** represent fragments of ancient oceanic crust and play an important role in identifying the suture zone and unveiling the evolutionary history of fossil oceans. Our detailed geological, geochemical and geochronological investigations argue for the existence of Early Permian(297 Ma) SSZ type ophiolites in the Sunidyouqi area of central Inner Mongolia, China. The gabbros and basalts show LREE depleted REE patterns and left-leaning primitive mantle-normalized spider diagrams with variable negative Nb-Ta anomalies(Nb~*= 0.24-1.28 and 0.29-0.55, respectively). The Sunidyouqi ophiolites were generated in a mature back-arc basin. The Sunidyouqi ophiolites share the same petrological,geochemical and geochronological characteristics with the other ophiolites along the Solonker suture zone, delineating a Late Paleozoic ocean and arc-trench system. This Late Paleozoic ocean and arc-trench system coincides with a Permian paleobiogeographical boundary, i.e. the boundary between the northern cold climate(Boreal faunal-Angaraland floral realm), and a southern warm climate(Tethys faunal-Cathaysian floral realm). A tectonic scenario was proposed at last for the closure of the SE PAO involving(1) Late Ordovician to Middle Permian continuous southward subduction beneath the northern margin of North China;(2) Carboniferous to Middle Permian continuous northward subduction the forming the Northern Accretionary Orogen;(3) Late Permian final closure of the SE PAO.

Thermal History since the Paleozoic in the Eastern Qaidam Basin,Northwest China

The Qaidam Basin is the one of the three major petroliferous basins in northeastern Tibetan Plateau, which has experienced multiphase superimposition and transformation. The study of thermal history not only plays an important role on revealing the tectonic origin of the Qaidam Basin and the forming mechanism and uplift history of the Tibetan Plateau,but also can provide scientific evidence for the assessment of oil and gas resources. This work used balanced cross-section technique and apatite fission track ages with modeling of fission track length distribution to infer that the eastern Qaidam Basin has experienced significant tectonic movement in the Early Jurassic movement(～200 Ma), which caused the carboniferous uplift and denudation, the geological movement in the Late Cretaceous, characterized by early stretching and late northeast-southwest extrusion; the Himalayan movement in multi-stage development in eastern Qaidam Basin, which can be divided into the early Himalayan movement(41.1–33.6 Ma) and the late Himalayan movement(9.6–7.1 Ma, 2.9–1.8 Ma), and large-scale orogeny caused pre-existing faults reactivated in late Himalayan movement. On the basis of burial history reconstruction, the thermal history of eastern Qaidam Basin was restored. The result shows that the thermal history in eastern Qaidam Basin shows slow cooling characteristics; the paleo-geothermal gradient of eastern Qaidam Basin was 38–41.5℃/km, with an average value of 39.0℃/km in the Late Paleozoic, 29–35.2℃/km, with an average value of 33.0℃/km in the Early Paleogene; the geothermal gradient of the Qaidam Basin increased in the Late Paleogene, which was similar to the present geothermal gradient in the Late Neogene. The characteristics of the tectono-thermal evolution since Paleozoic in the eastern Qaidam Basin are mainly controlled by magmatic thermal events in the study area.

Geochemistry and Provenance of Maastrichtian Clastic Rocks in the Dikmendede Formation of Orhaniye in Kazan-Ankara-Turkey Region

An integrated petrographic and geochemical study of the sandstones of the Maastrichtianaged in the Orhaniye（Kazan-Ankara-Turkey） was carried out to obtain more information on their provenance,sedimentological history and tectonic *** on their matrix and mineralogical content,the Maastrichtian sandstones are identified as lithic arenite/*** Dikmendede sandstones derived from types of provenances,the recycled orogen and recycled *** chemical characteristics of the Dikmendede sandstones,i.e.,fairly uniform compositions,high Th/U ratios（>3.0）,negative Eu anomalies（Eu/Eu* 0.72-0.99） and Th/Sc ratios （mostly less than 1.0）,favor the OUC（old upper continental crust） provenance for the Dikmendede *** SiO2/Al2O3,Th/Sc（mostly<1.0） and La/Sc（<4.0） ratios are;however,slightly lower than typical OUC,and these ratios may suggest a minor contribution of young arc-derived material. The rare earth element（REE） pattern,and La/Sc versus Th/Co plot suggests that these sediments were mainly derived from felsic source *** Dikmendede sandstones have high Cr（123-294 ppm） and Ni（52-212 ppm） concentrations,Cr/Ni ratio of 1.93,and a medium correlation coefficient between Cr and Ni and corresponding medium to high correlation of both（Cr and Ni,respectively） elements with *** relationships indicate a significant contribution of detritus from ophiolitic *** rare earth element data are available for the Dikmendede sandstones,the Eu/Eu*is compared with LaN/YbN. Samples plot in the area of overlapping between continental collision,strike-slip and continental arc *** predominantly felsic composition of the Dikmendede sandstones is supported by the REE plots,which show enriched light REE,negative Eu anomaly and flat or uniform heavy *** Dikmendede sandstones have compositions similar to those of the average upper continental crust and post-Archean Australian *** feature indicates that the sediments were derived mainly from

Geochemical characteristics of the Eymir(Sorgun-Yozgat) manganese deposit,Turkey

The Eymir（Yozgat-Sorgun,Turkey） manganese deposit occurs within radiolarite cherts of the lower Cretaceous ophiolite *** mineralization was observed banded and lenticular *** geochemical characteristics of the Eymir deposit was studied by means of major oxide,trace and rare earth element（REE） contents and the origin of mineralization was *** correlation coefficients indicated the presence of strong positive relations between major oxides and various trace elements（Al2O3-Fe2O3：r=0.75;Al2O3-CaO：r=0.79;Al2O3-TiO2：r=0.80;Al2O3-Zr：r=0.66;TiO2-Fe2O3：r=0.98;TiO2-CaO：r=0.82;TiO2-Zr：r=0.85 and Fe2O3-Zr：r=0.89） and the contribution of mafic terrigenous material to the *** chondrite normalized REE graphics samples were characterized by highly negative and positive Ce *** showed negative anomaly in all *** negative Ce anomaly was typical to submarine hydrothermal deposits and positive Ce anomaly was indicative of hydrogenous *** negative Eu anomaly showed contamination from the continental crust and/or sediment contribution via *** values in the Eymir mineralization were computed from the equation of Ceanom=lg [3xCeN/（2xLaN＋NdN）] and anomalies were found as Ceanom-0.1 in 8 samples and Ceanom-0.1 in 12 *** values are indicative of both oxic and anoxic sedimentation *** available data indicated that the Eymir manganese deposit is a hydrothermal-hydrogenous type volcanosedimentary mineralization.
