Crosstalk among canonical Wnt and Hippo pathway members in skeletal muscle and at the neuromuscular junction

Modeling forest fires in Mazandaran Province, Iran

We used a spafio-temporal shot-noise Cox process to study the distribution of forest fires reported between 2006 and 2010 in the Mazandaran Province＇s forests. The fitted model shows that daily temperature, altitude, and slope-exposure impacted fire occurrence. Forest fire occurred in the region had an aggregated behavior, which increased in radius below 1-km away from fired areas; a periodic pattern of fire occurrence in the region was verified. The risk of forest fire is significantly higher for areas with southern exposure and slope between 30° and 50°, northern exposure and slope between 0° and 50°, and eastern exposure and slope between 0° and 30°. The risk of fire was also significantly higher at altitudes between 1350 and 3000 m asl. Human causes were the main ignition source for forest fires in the region. The fire occurrence rate stayed above average during the drought period from September 2008 to September 2009. Our findings could lead to the development of fire-response and fire-suppression strategies appropriate to specific regions.

Effects of Acupressure and Ibuprofen on the Severity of Primary Dysmenorrhea

　　The present study aims at comparing the effects of acupressure using new combination of acupoints, and Ibuprofen on the severity of primary dysmenorrhea (PD). 216 female high school students, aged between 14 to 18 years, were randomly selected and divided into three groups. Each group underwent different treatment techniques: acupressure, Ibuprofen and sham acupressure as a placebo. The results indicated that the three therapeutic techniques were significantly effective in reducing the pain. However the therapeutic efficacies of acupressure and Ibuprofenwere similar with no significant difference, and were significantly better thanthe placebo. Thus acupressure, with no complications, is recommended as an alternative and also a better choice in the decrease of the severity of PD.　　……

Silica coated multi-wall carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs),silica@MWCNTs and nanocomposites were synthesized by a sol-gel *** using the synthesized nanocomposites and also CNTs as templates,silica nanotubes(silica-NTs) were *** optical properties of fabricated nanocomposites and nanotubes were characterized by back-scattering micro Raman,UV/Vis/NIR and FT-IR spectra,which show the presence of CNTs structure in the ***/Vis/NIR and FT-IR spectra also show the presence of silica *** recorded spectra from UV/Vis/NIR and FT-IR also confirm the presence of silica compounds in the *** results of FE-SEM imaging data indicate that the synthesized samples are MWCNTs coated uniformly by silica molecules,which act as the template to synthesize silica-NTs.

So many potential risks can be identifed for application of trenchless technology especially using microtunneling *** changes in ground conditions,such as encountering boulders,tree roots,ground water and man-made structures such as old foundations are the principal geotechnical risks,which affect the selection of an appropriate microtunnel boring *** the other hand,the performance of each microtunneling technique will differ while encountering such ***,predicting the potential hazards provides a better safety and risk management *** this study,a couple of potentially hazardous situation,which are commonly associated with ground conditions,were identifed and investigated.A decision tree aid methodology was proposed based on geotechnical risk assessment for selection of proper microtunneling *** on the approach the most appropriate microtunneling technique has the minimum risk level either before or after hazards mitigation *** order to check the effciency of the approach in practice,selection of microtunnel boring machine for Hamadan sewerage pipeline project was ***,an earth pressure balance(EPB)MTBM was selected for the project.

Fracture analyses of different pre-holed concrete specimens under compression

Crack propagation processes in specially prepared concrete discs and rectangular specimens containing a single cylindrical hole or multiple holes of varying diameters have been studied both experimentally and numerically. In this research, the cracks coalescence paths in Brazilian disc and rectangular specimens made from rock-like material containing multi-holes are investigated. These concrete specimens are specially prepared from an appropriate mixture of Portland Pozzolana Cement （PPC）, fine sands, and water. The pre-holed Brazilian discs and rectangular specimens are experimentally tested under compression. The breakage load in the ring type disc specimens containing an axial hole with varying diameters is measured and the distribution of the induced lateral stress is obtained. The mechanism of cracks propagation in the wall of the ring type specimens is also stud- ied. In the case of multi-hole Brazilian disc and rectangular specimens, the cracks propagation and cracks coalescence are also investigated. These experiments are numerically modeled by a modified higher order displacement discontinuity method. It has been shown that the corresponding experimental and numerical results are in good agreement with each other. The results presented in this research vali date the accuracy and applicability of these crack analyses procedures.

Kinetics and mechanism of titanium hydride powder and aluminum melt reaction

Based on the measurement of the released hydrogen gas pressure （PH2）, the reaction kinetics between TiH2 powder and pure aluminum melt was studied at various temperatures. After cooling the samples, the interface of TiH2 powder and aluminum melt was studied. The results show that the-time curves have three regions; in the first and second regions, the rate of reaction conforms zero and one order, respectively; in the third region, the hydrogen gas pressure remains constant and the rate of reaction reaches zero. The main factors that control the rate of reaction in the first and second regions are the penetration of hydrogen atoms in the titanium lattice and the chemical reaction between molten aluminum and titanium, respectively. According to the main factors that control the rate of reaction, three temperature ranges are considered for the reaction mechanism：（a） 700-750°C, （b） 750-800°C, and （c） 800-1000°C. In the first temperature range, the reaction is mostly under the control of chemical reaction; at the temperature range of 750 to 800°C, the reaction is controlled by the diffusion and chemical reaction; at the third temperature range （800-1000°C）, the dominant controlling mechanism is diffusion.

Predicting density log from well log using machine learning techniques and heuristic optimization algorithm:A comparative study

In the petroleum industry,the analysis of petrophysical parameters is critical for efficient reservoir management,production optimization,development strategies,and accurate hydrocarbon reserve *** recent years,the integration of machine learning methodologies has revolutionized the field,addressing challenges in geology,geophysics,and petroleum engineering,even when confronted with limited or imperfect *** study focuses on the prediction of density logs,a pivotal factor in evaluating reservoir hydrocarbon *** is important to note that during well logging operations,log data for specific depths of interest may be missing or incorrect,presenting a significant *** tackle this issue,we employed the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS)and Artificial Neural Networks(ANN)in combination with advanced optimization algorithms,including Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO),Imperialist Competitive Algorithms(ICA),and Genetic Algorithms(GA).These methods exhibit promising performance in predicting density logs from gamma-ray,neutron,sonic,and photoelectric log ***,our results highlight that the Genetic Algorithms-based Artificial Neural Network(GA-ANN)approach outperforms all other methods,achieving an impressive Mean Squared Error(MSE)of *** comparison,ANFIS records an MSE of 0.0015,ICA-ANN 0.0090,PSO-ANN 0.0093,and ANN 0.0183.

Objectives:This article reviews the advantages and disadvantages of endoscopic ear surgery(EES).Method:Pubmed,Google and the Proquest Central Database at Kirikkale University were queried using the keywords"endoscopic ear surgery","ear surgery"and"endoscopy"to identify the literature needed for the ***:Endoscopes allow for enhanced surgical *** distal part of the apparatus is illuminated and contains lenses angled to allow a wider view of the operative *** endoscopic techniques have transformed the external ear canal(EAC)into an operative *** benefits EES can offer include wider views,enhanced imaging capabilities and increased magnification,and ways to see otherwise poorly visualisable portions of the middle *** permits surgeons to operate using minimally invasive otological *** compared with microscope-assisted surgery,endoscopic tympanoplasty has been shown to require a shorter operating time in some *** are a number of drawbacks to EES,however,which include the fact that it is a single-handed technique,that the light source may produce thermal injury and that visualisation using the endoscope is severely curtailed if bleeding is ***:EES is a safe and effective *** current literature supports the idea that the results achieved by endoscopic methods are usually comparably beneficial to results obtained using conventional microscopic methods.
