Tree allometry responses to competition and complementarity in mixed-species plantations of Betula alnoides

Tree allometry plays a crucial role in tree survival,stability,and timber quantity and quality of mixed-species ***,the responses of tree allometry to resource utilisation within the framework of interspecific competition and complementarity remain poorly *** into consideration strong-and weakspace competition(SC and WC),as well as N_(2)-fixing and non-N_(2)-fixing tree species(FN and nFN),a mixedspecies planting trial was conducted for Betula alnoides,a pioneer tree species,which was separately mixed with Acacia melanoxylon(SC+FN),Erythrophleum fordii(WC+FN),Eucalyptus cloeziana(SC+nFN)and Pinus kesiya ***(WC+nFN)in southern *** years after planting,tree growth,total nitrogen(N)and carbon(C)contents,and the natural abundances of^(15)N and^(13)C in the leaves were measured for each species,and the mycorrhizal colonisation rates of *** were investigated under each *** variations and their relationships with space competition and nutrient-related factors were *** results showed a consistent effect of space competition on the height-diameter relationship of *** in mixtures with FN or *** tree height growth of *** was significantly promoted under high space competition,and growth in diameter at breast height(DBH),tree height and crown size were all expedited in mixtures with *** symbiotic relationship between ectomycorrhizal fungi and *** was significantly influenced by both space competition and N_(2) fixation by the accompanying tree species,whereas such significant effects were absent for arbuscular mycorrhizal ***,high space competition significantly decreased the water use efficiency(WUE)of ***,and its N use efficiency(NUE)was much lower in the FN *** equation modeling further demonstrated that the stem allometry of *** was affected by its NUE and WUE via changes in its height growth,and crown allometry was influ

Identification of serum immunoglobulin M(IgM)of crucian carp(Carassius auratus gibelio)and immune response to cyprinid herpesvirus 2 infection

Crucian carp(Carassius auratus gibelio),an extensively cultivated freshwater fish,was one of the model species for the study of fish *** antibodies were advantageous molecular tools for studying teleost immune ***,polyclonal antibodies reacting with immunoglobulins(Ig)were used successfully in studies of the teleost *** the present study,we produced polyclonal antibody against CH2 domains of crucian carp IgM,and measured the in vivo dynamics of IgM mRNA caused by CyHV-2 *** recombinant protein IgM with relative molecular weight about 53 KD was correctly expressed in prokaryotic *** specificity of the polyclonal antibody was evaluated by Western blotting and results revealed that the antibody not only specifically recognized crucian carp serum but also cross-reacted with grass carp *** RT-PCR analysis demonstrated the expression of IgM mRNA changed significantly after CyHV-2 *** expression of IgM in the kidney increased and reached a maximum at 6 h post-infection(hpi),while dropped to a low level at 5 days post-infection(dpi).In conclusion,the expression of IgM was significantly upregulated in the kidney of crucian carp infected with CyHV-2,indicating that IgM played a potential role in systemic immunity against viral *** antibody against crucian carp IgM had certain clinical relevance,which might provide insight into the early stage of virus infection and prevention of the disease.

Feasibility analysis of hypergravity experiment of density-driven convection of dissolved CO

Dissolution trapping is one of the most promising mechanisms for safe geological carbon storage. Density-driven convection substantially accelerates the conversion of free-phase CO2to the dissolved state， enhancing the sequestration safety. Since this process occurs on time scales of hundreds to thousands of years， reproducing it through conventional laboratory physical model tests is challenging. The hypergravity experiment reduces the model size and shortens the experimental time， enabling the modeling of gravity-driven flow processes at the field scale. However， it is uncertain whether the preferential flow effect caused by fractures can be reproduced in a hypergravity experiment. In this study， a three-dimensional discrete fracture-matrix model （3D-DFM） was used to evaluate the feasibility of hypergravity experiment of the transport of dissolved CO2in fractured *** hypergravity tests were performed to examine the feasibility of modeling density-driven convection in homogeneous and heterogeneous media at different centrifuge accelerations. The hypergravity experiment can be used to study density-driven convection of dissolved CO2at the field scale in homogeneous system. The numerical results show that the hypergravity experiment enables a faster breakthrough of plume and overestimates CO2migration in the matrix surrounding the fractures.

Warming intensified the effects of nitrogen addition on N_(2)O emissions from alpine meadow in the northern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

Warming and nitrogen(N)addition may impact soil nitrous oxide(N_(2)O)emissions,but the relationship between plant community composition and soil microbial activities remains *** a two-year field study in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,open-top chambers were used to quantify the effects of warming,N-addition,and their interactions on N_(2)O *** found that the N-addition greatly increased N_(2)O emissions by 77.4%in 2018 when compared to the control *** contrast,warming showed little effect on N_(2)0 emissions but did increase the activity of enzymes associated with soil nitrification and denitrification.A combined effect of warming and N-addition of resulted in 208.6%(2018)and 90.8%(2019)increase in N_(2)0 emissions,respectively,compared to the individual treatments of warming or *** warming in alpine meadows is causally linked to increased legume biomass which is further intensified with the *** legume biomass(p<0.05),soil moisture(p<0.001)and enzyme activity(p<0.001)had a positive effect on N_(2)0 emissions,while diminished microbial carbon/nitrogen(MBC/MBN)(p<0.05)correlated with reduced N_(2)O *** results indicated that N-addition has a positive effect on N_(2)O emissions,and the addition of warming further intensifies this *** increased dominance of legumes and microbial N content contributes to this *** outcomes suggest that warming and atmospheric N deposition can stimulate N_(2)O emissions of alpine meadows inthefuture.

OBJECTIVE:To analyze the serum metabolic targets of the"Zhibian(BL54)through Shuidao(ST28)"acupuncture technique in cyclophosphamide(CTX)-induced premature ovarian insufficiency(POI)model rats and to elucidate the potential molecular mechanism of acupuncture in improving ***:We used an intraperitoneal injection of CTX to establish the POI rat model(POI group)and compared serum hormone levels and ovarian histopathological changes to evaluate the effect of the Zhibian(BL54)through Shuidao(ST28)technique(ZS+POI group)on ovarian ***,nontargeted metabolomics was performed using rat serum by ultra-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q-TOF/MS).RESULTS:After acupuncture intervention,the serum hormone levels and ovarian pathological morphology of POI rats were effectively ***,UPLC-Q-TOF/MS results showed that the ZS+POI group showed a significant reversal of the levels of 6 differential *** them,the levels of four serum metabolic markers,divanillyltetrahydrofuran ferulate,trans-ferulic acid,tryptamine,and neuraminic acid,increased *** analysis of biological effects showed that all metabolites were involved in the regulation of reproductive hormone levels and antioxidant and antiapoptotic ***:The"Zhibian(BL54)through Shuidao(ST28)"acupuncture method may improve the ovarian function of POI rats by regulating serum metabolite markers to exert antioxidant and antiapoptotic effects,which provides a theoretical basis for the clinical application of acupuncture in the treatment of POI.

Microstructure and texture evolution of Cu–Cr–Co–Ti alloys during the two-stage cryorolling

This study entailed an investigation of the mechanical properties, microstructural and texture orientation evolutions of CuDCrDCoDTi alloys prepared via twostage cryorolling and intermediate aging treatment. To this end, X-ray diffraction and electron backscatter diffraction were employed. The results indicate that the two-stage cryorolling and intermediate aging treatments led to the development of profuse twin bundles and significantly enhanced the mechanical properties. The initial cryorolling led to coplanar slip and developed a strong Y({111} ) orientation, accelerating the formation of Goss({011} ) orientation and a Brass-type *** intermediate aging treatment relieved the restriction on dislocation slip and reoriented the grains toward the Copper({112} ) and Z({111} ) *** Z orientation, with a relatively high volume fraction,dominated the macrotexture. Secondary cryorolling intensified twinning and shear banding, transforming the Copper-type shear bands into Brass-type shear bands with rhomboidal prism morphology. The areas inside the Brasstype shear bands exhibited a Y orientation, and the areas outside the shear bands exhibited a stable Brass-type texture. The evident decrease in the weighted Schmid factors demonstrated that the two-stage cryorolling and intermediate aging treatment can modify the texture evolution and aid the design of high-performance Cu alloys.

Electrical and nonlinear optical properties of TGZO transparent conducting films deposited by magnetron sputtering

Thin transparent oxide conducting films(TCOFs)of titanium and gallium substituted zinc oxide(TGZO)were fabricated via radio frequency(RF)magnetron sputtering *** effects of RF power on electrical,linear and nonlinear optical characteristics were investigated by Hall tester,Ultraviolet(UV)-visible spectrophotometer and optical characterization *** results indicate that RF power significantly influences the electrical and optical properties of the deposited *** RF power raises,the resistivity and Urbach energy fall initially and then rise,while the figure of merit,mean visible transmittance and optical bandgap show the reverse variation *** RF power of 190 W,the TGZO sample exhibits the highest electro-optical properties,with the maximum figure of merit(1.14×10^(4)Ω-1∙cm^(-1)),mean visible transmittance(86.9%)and optical bandgap(3.50 eV),the minimum resistivity(6.26×10^(-4)Ω∙cm)and Urbach energy(174.23 meV).In addition,the optical constants of the deposited films were determined by the optical spectrum fitting method,and the RF power dependence of nonlinear optical properties was *** is observed that all the thin films exhibit normal dispersion characteristics in the visible region,and the nonlinear optical parameters are greatly affected by the RF power in the ultraviolet region.

Recent advances in phenazine-linked porous catalysts toward photo/electrocatalytic applications and mechanism

In recent years, porous organic catalysts have been developed and become research hotspots in photo/electrocatalysis due to their inherent pores, high specific surface area, chemical and thermal stability, and diverse functional building blocks. Phenazine-linked organic catalysts,exhibited excellent conjugation, electrical conductivity, chemical, and thermal stability, could bring in N atoms with specific numbers and positions to regulate electron levels, anchor metals, and absorb near-infrared light, which expands solar energy utilization. These advantages of the phenazine-linked catalysts attracted our group and numerous researchers to conduct experimental and computational work on photo/electrocatalytic applications and mechanisms. This review summarizes the recent significant research progress, synthesis methods, photo/electrocatalytic performance, and applications of relative phenazine-linked catalysts. Furthermore, the photo/electrocatalytic mechanism was systematized and summarized by combining experiments and density functional theory calculations simultaneously.
