Molding of polyether ether ketone(PEEK)and its composites:a review

Over the last half-century,polyether ether ketone(PEEK)has emerged as a widely adopted thermoplastic polymer,primarily due to its lower density,exceptional mechanical properties,high-temperature and chemical resistance,and *** and its composites have found extensive applications across various fields,including machinery,aerospace,military equipment,electronics,and biomedicine,positioning themselves as promising substitutes for traditional metal ***,achieving optimal performance and functional molding of PEEK and its composites presents a formidable challenge,given their inherent characteristics,such as semi-crystallinity,high melting temperature,heightened viscosity,low dielectric coefficient,and hydrophobic *** this paper,we present a comprehensive review of the molding methods and processes of PEEK and its composites,including extrusion molding,hot compression molding,injection molding,and 3D *** also introduce typical innovative applications within the fields of mechanics,electricity,and biomedicine while elucidating methodologies that leverage the distinctive advantages of PEEK and its ***,we summarize research findings related to manipulating the properties of PEEK and its composites through the optimization of machine parameters,process variables,and material structural ***,we contemplate the prevailing development trends and outline prospective avenues for further research in the advancement and molding of PEEK and its composites.

The microstructure evolution of secondary austenite in 2507 duplex stainless steel was investigated by means of optical metallography,scanning electron microscopy and confocal scanning laser *** types of secondary austenite(γ2)morphologies including partially transformed austenite,grain boundary austenite,Widmannstätten austenite(WA)and intragranular austenite could be formed during cooling after solution *** was concluded that secondary austenite morphology was mainly dependent on cooling *** mechanisms of WA formation were *** nucleated at grain boundary of ferrite or at the formed phase *** electron microscopy(TEM)analysis displayed that WA grew in parallel to the *** effects of Cr_(2)N on secondary austenite precipitation were discussed in *** Cr_(2)N was involved,a mechanism was proposed that secondary austenite formed by element diffusion,leading to the migration of the austenite–ferrite ***_(2)N acted as the nucleation sites forγ2 and provided the nitrogen for the transformation;meanwhile,the precipitation of Cr_(2)N during the rapid cooling was captured by TEM.A process of nucleation followed by diffusion was concluded to be the formation of secondary austenite with no Cr_(2)N *** decomposition of secondary austenite was also studied,which was found to be a diffusion mechanism followed by displacement in connection with the element distribution.

Distribution of the Ordovician Fluid in the Tahe Oilfield and Dynamic Response of Cave System S48 to Exploitation

The Tahe Oilfield is a complex petroleum reservoir of Ordovician carbonate formation and made up of spatially overlapping fracture-cavity units. The oilfield is controlled by a cave system resulting from structure-karst cyclic sedimentation. Due to significant heterogeneity of the reservoir, the distribution of oil and water is complicated. Horizontally, a fresh water zone due to meteoric water can be found in the north part of the Akekule uplift. A marginal freshening zone caused by water released from mudstone compaction is found at the bottom of the southern slope. Located in a crossformational flow discharge zone caused by centripetal and the centrifugal flows, the main part of the Tahe Oilfield, featuring high salinity and concentrations of CI^- and K^＋＋Na^＋, is favorable for accumulation of hydrocarbon. Three types of formation water in the Tahe Ordovician reservoir are identified：（1） residual water at the bottom of the cave after oil and gas displacement, （2） residual water in fractures/pores around the cave after oil and gas displacement, and （3） interlayer water below reservoirs. The cave system is the main reservoir space, which consists of the main cave, branch caves and depressions between caves. Taking Cave System S48 in the Ordovician reservoir as an example, the paper analyzes the fluid distribution and exploitation performance in the cave system. Owing to evaporation of groundwater during cross-formational flow, the central part of the main cave, where oil layers are thick and there is a high degree of displacement, is characterized by high salinity and Br^- concentration. With high potential and a long stable production period, most wells in the central part of the main cave have a long water-free oil production period. Even after water breakthrough, the water content has a slow or stepwise increase and the hydrochemistral characteristics of the produced water in the central part of the main cave are uniform. A personalized medication regimen provides precise treatment for an individual and can be guided by pre-clinical drug *** economical and high-efficiency simulation of the liver tumor microenvironment(TME)in a drug-screening model has high value yet challenging to ***,we propose a simulation of the liver TME with suspended alginate-gelatin hydrogel capsules encapsulating patient-derived liver tumor multicellular clusters,and the culture of patient-derived tumor organoids(PDTOs)for personalized pre-clinical drug *** hydrogel capsule offers a 3D matrix environment with mechanical and biological properties similar to those of the liver in *** a result,18 of the 28 patient-derived multicellular clusters were successfully cultured as *** PDTOs,along with hepatocyte growth factor(HGF)of non-cellular components,preserve stromal cells,including cancer-associated fibroblasts(CAFs)and vascular endothelial cells(VECs).They also maintain stable expression of molecular markers and tumor heterogeneity similar to those of the original liver ***,including cabazitaxel,oxaliplatin,and sorafenib,were tested in *** sensitivity of PDTOs to these drugs differs between *** sensitivity of one PDTO to oxaliplatin was validated using magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)and biochemical tests after oxaliplatin clinical treatment of the corresponding ***,this approach is promising for economical,accurate,and high-throughput drug screening for personalized treatment.

Influence of Axial Loads to Propagation Characteristics of the Elastic Wave in a Non-Uniform Shaft

The vibration propagates through the shaft in the form of elastic waves. The propagation characteristics of the elastic waves are a ected by the axial loads. The influence of the axial loads to the propagation characteristics of the elastic waves is studied in this paper. Firstly, the transfer matrix of the elastic waves for the non-uniform shaft with axial loads is deduced by combining the transfer matrix without axial load and the additional equation caused by the axial load. And then, a numerical method is used to study the influence of the axial load, non-uniformity and the rotating speed to the propagation characteristics of the elastic waves. It’s found that a new Stop Band will appear due to the axial force, and the central frequency of which will decrease as the increase of the force, while the band width of which remains the same. The central frequency of the new Stop Band will also increase as the increase of the cross-section area ratio;however, the rotating speed of the shaft doesn’t a ect the propagation characteristics of the elastic waves obviously. Finally, an experimental rig is built up for further study, even though there are some small local errors, the results of experiments match well with the numerical ones, which indicates the validation of the theoretical results. The result can help to study the influence of the axial load to the dynamics of a non-uniform shaft and help to reveal the vibration propagating mechanism in such a shaft.

Reinforcing Paper Strength by Dual Treatment of a Cationic Water-soluble Polymer and Cellulose Nanofibril

Cellulose nanofibril(CNF)was used as the anionic component of two dual strengthening systems wherein polyamidopolyamine epichlorohydrin resin(PAE)or cationic starch(CS)was used as the cationic *** strengthening effects were investigated for lowbasis-weight(30 g/m2)paper composed of a mixture of fully bleached softwood and hardwood pulp in a 4:1 mass *** the PAE/CNF or CS/CNF dual system,it was generally easier to achieve higher wet and dry tensile strengths of paper compared to the paper using the single PAE or CS *** example,the paper using the PAE(0.4%)/CNF(0.3%)dual system exhibited 89%higher wet tensile strength than the paper using the single PAE(0.4%)system,and the paper using CS(1.3%)/CNF(0.3%)dual treatment showed 21%higher dry strength than that using the single CS(1.3%)***,the PAE/CNF system only showed small improvement in the dry strength of paper(11%higher than that of paper using the single PAE system),so did the CS/NFC system on wet strength improvement(only 17%higher than that of paper using the single CS system).

Hydrogels—natural or synthetic polymer networks that swell in water—can be made mechanically,chemically and electrically compatible with living tissues. There has been intense research and development of hydrogels for medical applications since the invention of hydrogel contact lenses in 1960. More recently,functional hydrogel coatings with controlled thickness and tough adhesion have been achieved on various substrates. Hydrogel-coated substrates combine the advantages of hydrogels, such as lubricity,biocompatibility and anti-biofouling properties, with the advantages of substrates, such as stiffness,toughness and strength. In this review, we focus on three aspects of functional hydrogel coatings:(i) applications and functions enabled by hydrogel coatings,(ii) methods of coating various substrates with different functional hydrogels with tough adhesion, and(iii) tests to evaluate the adhesion between functional hydrogel coatings and substrates. Conclusions and outlook are given at the end of this review.

An ultrahigh-Q silicon racetrack resonator is proposed and demonstrated with uniform multimode silicon photonic *** consists of two multimode straight waveguides connected by two multimode waveguide bends(MWBs).In particular,the MWBs are based on modified Euler curves,and a bent directional coupler is used to achieve the selective mode coupling for the fundamental mode and not exciting the higher-order mode in the *** this way,the fundamental mode is excited and propagates in the multimode racetrack resonator with ultralow loss and low intermode ***,it helps achieve a compact 180°bend to make a compact resonator with a maximized free spectral range(FSR).In this paper,for the chosen 1.6μm wide silicon photonic waveguide,the effective radius Reffof the designed 180°bend is as small as 29μ*** corresponding FSR is about 0.9 nm when choosing 260μm long straight waveguides in the *** present high-Q resonator is realized with a simple standard single-etching process provided by a multiproject wafer *** fabricated device,which has a measured intrinsic Q-factor as high as 2.3×10~6,is the smallest silicon resonator with a>106Q-factor.

Developing stable and efficient nonprecious-metal-based oxygen evolution catalysts in the neutral electrolyte is a challenging but essential goal for various electrochemical ***,cobalt-based spinels have drawn a considerable amount of attention but most of them operate in alkali ***,the frequently studied Co-Fe spinel system never exhibits appreciable stability in nonbasic conditions,not to mention attract further investigation on its key structural motif and transition states for activity ***,we report exceptional stable Co-Fe spinel oxygen evolution catalysts(~30%Fe is optimal)in a neutral electrolyte,owing to its unique metal ion arrangements in the crystal *** introduced iron content enters both the octahedral and tetrahedral sites of the spinel as Fe^(2+)and Fe^(3+)(with Co ions having mixed distribution as well).Combining density functional theory calculations,we find that the introduction of Fe to Co_(3)O_(4)lowers the covalency of metal-oxygen bonds and can help suppress the oxidation of Co^(2+/3+)and 0^(2-).It implies that the Co-Fe spinel will have minor surface reconstruction and less lattice oxygen loss during the oxygen evolution reaction process in comparison with Co_(3)O_(4)and hence show much better *** findings suggest that there is still much chance for the spinel structures,especially using reasonable sublattices engineering via multimetal doping to develop advanced oxygen evolution catalysts.
