Addressing dynamic photovoltaic processes at electrode:active layer and donor:acceptor interfaces in organic solar cells under device-operating conditions

This article presents our experimental studies to unravel the dynamic photovoltaic processes occurring at donor:acceptor(D:A)and electrode:active layer(E:A)interfaces under device-operating conditions by using two unique magneto-optical measurements,namely photo-induced capacitance and magnetic field effect ***,we have found that a higher surface polarization of dielectric thin film can decrease the surface charge accumulation at E:A *** photo-induced capacitance results indicate that dielectric thin film plays a crucial role in the charge collection in generating photocurrent in organic solar ***,our experimental results from magnetic field effect show that the binding energies of charge transfer(CT)states at D:A interface can be evaluated by using the critical bias required to completely dissociate the CT *** is the first experimental demonstration that the binding energies of CT states can be measured under deviceoperating ***,we use our measurement of magnetic field effect to investigate the most popular organic photovoltaic solar cells,organometal halide perovskite photovoltaic *** results of magneto-photoluminescence show that the photogenerated electrons and holes are inevitably recombined into electron–hole pairs through a spin-dependent process in the ***,using spin polarizations can present a new design to control the photovoltaic loss in perovskites-based photovoltaic ***,we found that introducing D:A interface can largely affect the bulk charge dissociation and recombination in perovskite solar *** indicates that the interfacial and bulk photovoltaic processes are internally coupled in developing photovoltaic actions in perovskite ***,these magneto-optical measurements show a great potential to unravel the deeper photovoltaic processes occurring at D:A and E:A interfaces in both organic bulk-heterojunction and perovskite solar cells under dev

The reactive activities of natural amino acids: key principles of peptide-templated Au cluster synthesis

Coating of gold nanoclusters with peptides is an important targeting method in biomedical ***, their synthetic method highly influences their targeting ability. Current methods often use harsh reagents and organic solvents to control morphology, which are not preferred for biomedical applications. Recently, several peptides with specific amino acid sequences have successfully been used to reduce Au ions and synthesize biocompatible peptide-covered gold particles in ***, the molecular mechanism of peptide-assisted nanocluster formation is yet unclear. Thus, reactive abilities of different amino acids should be studied to improve design of peptides with predetermined amino acid content and consequently, synthesize gold nanoclusters with improved performance. In this theoretical study, we have approximated the reactive abilities of 20 natural amino acids in their neutral state using density functional theory calculations, such as Fukui indices and HOMO/LUMO composition analysis. We have found that the top reducing agents are tryptophan, histidine, and tyrosine, and thestrongest binding can be expected from methionine and cysteine. Further study of the exact reactive sites in these high reactive amino acids provided the deep insight for the peptide design route for the targeted gold nanocluster formation.

The aims of the present paper are threefold. First, we further study the fast Fourier transform thermal lattice Boltzmann （FFT-TLB） model for van der Waals （VDW） fluids proposed in Phys. Rev. E, 2011, 84（4）： 046715. We analyze the merits of the FFT approach over the traditional finite difference scheme and investigate the effects of smoothing factors on accuracy and stability in detail. second, we incorporate the VDW equation of state with flexible parameters into the FFT- TLB model. As a result, the revised model may be used to handle multiphase flows with various critical densities and temperatures. Third, we design appropriate boundary conditions for systems with solid walls. These improvements, from the views of numerics and physics, significantly extend the application scope of the model in science and engineering.

Improved Fixed-Time Convergence Guidance Scheme design and Its Application to Missile

This study presents a fixed-time convergence guidance scheme for impact time and angle ***,two improved fixed-time stable systems are presented,which have smaller initial control command and better terminal convergence.16 An improved fixed-time extended state observer is proposed to provide accurate estimation of system states and disturbance,which effectively solves peaking value ***,an improved fixed-time sliding mode controller is derived,which avoids the singular problem and achieves faster convergence rate with smaller initial control ***,a new guidance scheme with impact angle and impact time constraints is proposed for intercepting a stationary *** introducing a virtual target,the guidance process is divided into two *** proposed fixed-time controller is employed in the first *** method with a virtual leader ensures that the missile intercept the virtual target with desired line-of-sight angles at a specific *** using the proportional navigation guidance law,the missile keeps travelling with desired flight-path angles to hit the real target in the second stage,17 so as to achieve the impact time and angle ***,the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed guidance scheme in different engagement scenarios are verified by numerical simulations with comparisons.

Off-design performance of a chemical looping combustion (CLC) combined cycle:effects of ambient temperature

The present work investigates the influence of ambient temperature on the steady-state off-design thermodynamic performance of a chemical looping combustion(CLC) combined cycle.A sensitivity analysis of the CLC reactor system was conducted,which shows that the parameters that influence the temperatures of the CLC reactors most are the flow rate and temperature of air entering the air *** the ambient temperature variation,three off-design control strategies have been assumed and compared:1) without any Inlet Guide Vane(IGV) control,2) IGV control to maintain air reactor temperature and 3) IGV control to maintain constant fuel reactor temperature,aside from fuel flow rate *** indicate that,compared with the conventional combined cycle,due to the requirement of pressure balance at outlet of the two CLC reactors,CLC combined cycle shows completely different off-design thermodynamic characteristics regardless of the control strategy *** the first control strategy,temperatures of the two CLC reactors both rise obviously as ambient temperature *** control adopted by the second and the third strategy has the effect to maintain one of the two reactors' temperatures at design condition when ambient temperature is above design *** with the second strategy,the third would induce more severe decrease of efficiency and output power of the CLC combined cycle.

Experimental study on dynamic mechanical property of cemented tailings backfill under SHPB impact loading

Cemented tailings backfill(CTB) have increasingly been used in recent years to improve the stability of mining stopes in deep underground mines. Deep mining processes are often associated with rock bursting and high-speed dynamic loading conditions. Therefore, it is important to investigate the characteristics and dynamic mechanical behavior of CTB. This paper presents the results of dynamic tests on CTB specimens with different cement and solid contents using a split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB). The results showed that some CTB specimens exhibited one to two lower stress peaks after reaching dynamic peak stress before they completely failed. The greater the cement-to-tailings ratio is, the more obvious the strain reaction. This property mainly manifested as follows. First,the dynamic peak stress increased with the increase of the cement-to-tailings ratio when the impact velocity was fixed. second, the dynamic peak stress had a quadratic relationship with the average stress rate. Third, the cement-to-tailings ratio could enhance the increase rate of dynamic peak stress with strain rate. In addition, the dynamic strength enhancement factor K increased with the increase of strain rate, and its value was larger than that of the rock samples. The failure modes of CTB specimens under low-speed impact were tensile failure and X conjugate shear failure, where were nearly the same as those under static uniaxial and triaxial compression. The CTB specimens were crushed and broken under critical strain, a failure mode similar to that of low-strength concrete. The results of the experimental research can improve the understanding of the dynamic mechanical properties of CTB and guide the strength design of deep mining backfills.

The type of pinion and rack vertical shiplifts has been developed in recent a couple of years in the construction of *** the design methods and methodologies have rarely been discussed in *** Xiangjiaba shiplift is the second shiplift of this type following the Three Gorges *** aimed at the technological rationality of the design in synthetically considering security,economy and applicability,this paper presents the research results of some vital issues relating the design of the Xiangjiaba shiplift,including the determination of design water depth of ship chamber based on fluid numeral computation and physical model test,the optimum design of general layout of main equipments and the civil structure of the Xiangjiaba shiplift,the finite element method(FEM) analysis of stress,vibration modes and the buckling of ship chamber,antiseismic research and the design of structures and mechanisms of the shiplift and the optimum design of driving *** research provides the theoretical basis for the design of the Xiangjiaba *** design principles and research methods are valuable for the design of the same type of shiplifts.
