Therapeutic Effectiveness of Leukocyte-and Platelet-rich Fibrin for Diabetic Foot Ulcers:A Retrospective Study

Objective Diabetic foot ulcer(DFU)is one of the most serious complications of ***-and platelet-rich fibrin(L-PRF)is a second-generation autologous platelet-rich *** study aims to investigate the clinical effects of L-PRF in patients with diabetes in real clinical *** Patients with DFU who received L-PRF treatment and standard of care(SOC)from 2018 to 2019 in Tongji Hospital were *** clinical information including patient characteristics,wound evaluation(area,severity,infection,blood supply),SOC of DFU,and images of ulcers was retrospectively extracted and analyzed.L-PRF treatment was performed every 7±2 days until the ulcer exhibited complete epithelialization or an overall percent volume reduction(PVR)greater than 80%.Therapeutic effectiveness,including overall PVR and the overall and weekly healing rates,was *** Totally,26 patients with DFU were enrolled,and they had an ulcer duration of 47.0(35.0,72.3)*** severity and infection of ulcers varied,as indicated by the Site,Ischemia,Neuropathy,Bacterial Infection,and Depth(SINBAD)scores of 2–6,Wagner grades of 1–4,and the Perfusion,Extent,Depth,Infection and Sensation(PEDIS)scores of 2–*** initial ulcer volume before L-PRF treatment was 4.94(1.50,13.83)cm3,and the final ulcer volume was 0.35(0.03,1.76)*** median number of L-PRF doses was 3(2,5).A total of 11 patients achieved complete epithelialization after the fifth week of treatment,and 19 patients achieved at least an 80%volume reduction after the seventh *** overall wound-healing rate was 1.47(0.63,3.29)cm3/week,and the healing rate was faster in the first 2 weeks than in the remaining *** treatment did not change the percentage of complete epithelialization or healing *** Adding L-PRF to SOC significantly improved wound healing in patients with DFU independent of the ankle brachial index,SINBAD score,or Wagner grade,indicating that this method is appropriate for D

The ovary is indispensable for female reproduction,and its age-dependent functional decline is the primary cause of ***,the molecular basis of ovarian aging in higher vertebrates remains poorly ***,we apply spatiotemporal transcriptomics to benchmark architecture organization as well as cellular and molecular determinants in young primate ovaries and compare these to aged primate *** a global view,somatic cells within the non-follicle region undergo more pronounced transcriptional fluctuation relative to those in the follicle region,likely constituting a hostile microenvironment that facilitates ovarian ***,we uncovered that inflammation,the senescent-associated secretory phenotype,senescence,and fibrosis are the likely primary contributors to ovarian aging(PCOA).Of note,we identified spatial co-localization between a PCOA-featured spot and an unappreciated MT2(Metallothionein 2)highly expressing spot(MT2^(high))characterized by high levels of inflammation,potentially serving as an aging hotspot in the primate ***,with advanced age,a subpopulation of MT2^(high)accumulates,likely disseminating and amplifying the senescent signal *** study establishes the first primate spatiotemporal transcriptomic atlas,advancing our understanding of mechanistic determinants underpinning primate ovarian aging and unraveling potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for aging and age-associated human ovarian disorders.

The increasing prevalence of diabetes has become a global public health concern in the 21st *** 2021,it was estimated that 537 million people had diabetes,and this number is projected to reach 643 million by 2030,and 783 million by 2045[1].Such a huge burden of diabetes brings great challenges in its prevention and management,including early diagnosis,timely interventions,and regular monitoring of risk factor control and complications *** self-care support and patient empowerment can enhance clinical and psychobehavioural outcomes[2],although these require additional resources including manpower,infrastructure(hard and technology),and *** emergence of digital health technologies(DHTs),especially artificial intelligence(AI),may help address these obstacles and alleviate the burden of diabetes[3].Large language models(LLMs),a generative AI that can accept image and text inputs and produce text outputs,have shown promise in various aspects of medical care.

The electroreduction of carbon dioxide to generate multicarbon products is significant for achieving a carbon-neutral economy. However, the selectivity for multi-carbon products faces several challenges, such as the intricate nature of the multistep hydrogenation processes, slow reaction kinetics and the bicarbonate precipitate issue caused by alkaline conditions. These factors hinder the extensive utilization of this reaction. Herein, we successfully developed and implemented a tandem electrolyzer cascade to separate and optimize the complex elementary reactions involved in the process of multi-carbon production. Non-pharmacological interventions for diabetic peripheral neuropathy:Are we winning the battle?

Despite the advent of relatively reliable modalities of diagnosing diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN),such as nerve conduction studies,there is still a knowledge gap about the pathophysiology,and thus limited available in-terventions for symptom control and curtailing disease *** pharma-cologic aspect of management is mainly centred on pain control,however,there are several important aspects of DPN such as loss of vibration sense,pressure sense,and proprioception which are associated with risks to lower limb health,which pharmacotherapy does not ***,published evidence suggests non-pharmacologic interventions such as glycaemic control through dietary modification and exercise need to be combined with other measures such as psychotherapy,to reach a desired,however modest *** is emerging as an important treatment modality for several chronic medical conditions including neuropathic and other pain *** their study published in the World Journal of diabetes on the potential of acupuncture to reduce DPN symptoms and enhance nerve conduction parameters,Hoerder et al have been able to demonstrate that acupuncture improves sensory function and that this effect is likely sustained two months after treatment *** previous studies also support these findings,larger multi-center randomized control trials including a sham-controlled arm accounting for a placebo effect are ***,given the satisfactory safety profile and the positive results found in these studies,it is likely that acupuncture may become an important aspect of the repertoire of effective DPN management.

In this editorial we comment on the article by Emara et al published in the recent issue of the World Journal of Gastrointestinal ***,surgery was the primary treatment for bile duct injuries(BDI).The treatment of BDI has advanced due to technological breakthroughs and minimally invasive *** and percutaneous treatments have largely supplanted surgery as the primary treatment for most instances in recent *** management,including the specific technique,is typically impacted by local knowledge and the kind and severity of the *** therapy is a highly successful treatment for postoperative benign bile duct stenosis and offers superior long-term outcomes compared to surgical *** on the damage features of BDI,therapeutic options include endoscopic duodenal papillary sphincterotomy,endoscopic nasobiliary drainage,and endoscopic biliary stent implantation.
