Mitoxantrone, a clinically useful antitumour antibiotic for leukaemia and breast cancer, has received more attentions. In this paper, the interaction between mitoxantrone and calf thymus DNA is investigated by raman and fluorescence spectroscopies, and the binding site of mitoxantrone to calf thymus DNA is explored. The results showed that mitoxantrone interacts with calf thymus DNA bases by the intercalation of anthracycline into the base pair plane of adenine （A） and thymine （T）, and it results in the disruption of the hydrogen bonds between calf thymus DNA bases, and thus the calf thymus DNA double-strand can be disrupted into the B-form DNA double-strand scgments.

The vesicle of didodecyldimethylammonium bromide (DDAB) which containedtetrathiafulvalene (TTF) was mixed with xanthine oxidase, and the mixture was cast on the pyrolyticgraphite electrode. The lipid films were used to supply a biological environment resemblingbiomembrane on the surface of the electrode. TTF was used as a mediator because of its highelectron-transfer efficiency. A novel xanthine biosensor based on cast DDAB film was developed. Theeffects of pH and operating potential were explored for optimum analytical performance by using theamperometric method. The response time of the biosensor was less than 10 s. The detection limit ofthe biosensor was 3.2 x 10^(-7) mol/L and the liner range was from 4 x 10^(-7) mol/L to 2.4 x10^(-6) mol/L.

Lead oxide（Pb O）, which plays the key roles in a range of research fields, has received a great deal of attention. Owing to the large density of electronic states and heavy atom Pb including in Pb O, the excited states of the molecule have not been well studied. In this work, high level multireference configuration interaction calculations on the low-lying states of Pb O have been carried out by utilizing the relativistic effective core potential. The effects of the core-valence correlation correction, the Davidson modification, and the spin–orbital coupling on the electronic structure of the Pb O molecule are estimated. The potential energy curves of 18 Λ-S states correlated to the lowest dissociation limit（Pb（~3P_g）＋ O（~3P_g）） are reported. The calculated spectroscopic parameters of the electronic states below 30000 cm^（-1）, for instance, X^1Σ~＋, 1~3Σ~＋,and 1~3Σ^-, and their spin–orbit coupling interaction, are compared with the experimental results, and good agreements are derived. The dipole moments of the 18 Λ-S states are computed with the configuration interaction method, and the calculated dipole moments of X^1Σ~＋and 1~3Σ~＋are consistent with the previous experimental results. The transition dipole moments from 1~1Π, 2~1Π, and 2~Σ to X^1Σ~＋and other singlet excited states are estimated. The radiative lifetime of several low-lying vibrational levels of 1~1Π, 2~1Π, and 2~1Σ~＋ states are evaluated.

The intrinsic chirp of high-order harmonic generation is an important factor limiting the production of ultrashort attosecond *** on numerically solving the time-dependent Schrodinger equation,the generation process of highorder harmonic from the He atom under the action of orthogonal two-color combined pulse of fundamental frequency and higher intensity second harmonic fields is *** this paper,we propose to achieve quasi-chirp-free isolated attosecond pulses by superimposing a higher second-harmonic field on the orthogonal direction of the fundamental frequency *** is found that the high-energy part of its harmonic emission exhibits small chirp characteristics,which can be used to synthesize isolated attosecond *** the analysis of the wave packets evolution and the classical motion trajectories of the electron,it is demonstrated that the quasi-chirp-free harmonic can be attributed to the simultaneous return of electrons ionized at different times to the parent *** influence of the relative phase of the two pulses on the harmonics is further analyzed,and it is observed that this phenomenon is sensitive to the relative phase,but it can still generate isolated attosecond pulses within a certain phase.

Mechanical-force-promoted peptide assembly: a general method

A general method was developed for promoting peptide assembly and protein polymerization to form nanoscale patterns on various surfaces with an atomic force microscope(AFM) operated in a liquid. By scanning solid surfaces with an AFM tip, we showed that peptide monomers assemble at a higher rate in the tip-scanned area compared to other regions. The promotion is attributed to the mechanical force applied by the scanning tip. This kind of mechanical-force-promoted assembly was also observed with different peptides on various substrates. The force promoting peptide assembly provides a simple and practical solution for preparing and building peptide and protein architectures for future nanodevices.

Orientation of KRb molecules in a switched electrostatic field

We theoretically investigate the orientation of the cold KRb molecules induced in a switched electrostatic field by numerically solving the full time-dependent Schr6dinger equation. The results show that the periodic field-free molecular orientation can be realized for the KRb molecules by rapidly switching off the electrostatic field. Meanwhile, by varying the switching times of the electrostatic field, the adiabatic and nonadiabatic interactions of the molecules with the applied field can be realized. Moreover, the influences of the electrostatic field strength and the rotational temperature to the degree of the molecular orientation are studied. The investigations show that increasing the electrostatic field will increase the degree of the molecular orientation, both in the constant-field regime and in the field-free regime, while the increasing of the rotational temperature of the cold molecules will greatly decrease the degree of the molecular orientation.

Spectral intensity,electron temperature and density of laser-induced plasma(LIP) are important parameters for affecting sensitivity of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS).Increasing target temperature is an easy and feasible method to improve the *** this paper,a brass target in a temperature range from 25℃ to 200℃ was ablated to generate the LIP using femtosecond ***-resolved spectral emission of the femtosecond LIBS was measured under different target *** results showed that,compared with the experimental condition of 25℃,the spectral intensity of the femtosecond LIP was enhanced with more temperature *** addition,the electron temperature and density were calculated by Boltzmann equation and Stark broadening,indicating that the changes in the electron temperature and density of femtosecond LIP with the increase of the target temperature were different from each *** increasing the target temperature,the electron temperature increased while the electron density ***,in femtosecond LIBS,a hightemperature and low-density plasma with high emission can be generated by increasing the target *** increase in the target temperature can improve the resolution and sensitivity of femtosecond LIBS.

The combination of spark discharge and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) is called spark discharge assisted *** works under laser-plasma triggered spark discharge mode,and shows its ability to enhance spectral emission *** work uses a femtosecond laser as the light souuce,since femtosecond laser has many advantages in laser-induced plasma compared with nanosecond laser,meanwhile,the study on femtosecond LIBS with spark discharge is ***-resolved spectroscopy of spark discharge assisted femtosecond LIBS was investigated under different discharge voltages and laser *** results showed that the spectral intensity was significantly enhanced by using spark discharge compared with LIBS ***,the spectral emission intensity using spark discharge assisted LIBS increased with the increase in the laser *** addition,at low laser energy,there was an obvious delay on the discharge time compared with high laser energy,and the discharge time with positive voltage was different from that with negative voltage.
