Robust Filtration Techniques in Geometrical Metrology and Their Comparison

Filtration is one of the core elements of analysis tools in geometrical metrology. Filtration techniques are progressing along with the advancement of manufacturing technology. Modern filtration techniques are required to be robust against outliers, applicable to surfaces with complex geometry and reliable in whole range of measurement data. A comparison study is conducted to evaluate commonly used robust filtration techniques in the field of geometrical metrology, including the two-stage Gaussian filter, the robust Gaussian regression filter, the robust spline filter and morphological filters. They are compared in terms of four aspects： functionality, mathematical computation, capability and characterization parameters. As a result, this study offers metrologists a guideline to choose the appropriate filter for various applications.

Perfusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies quantify the microcirculatory status of liver parenchyma and liver lesions, and can be used for the detection of liver metastases, assessing the effectiveness of antiangiogenic therapy, evaluating tumor viability after anticancer therapy or ablation, and diagnosis of liver cirrhosis and its severity. In this review, we discuss the basic concepts of perfusion MRI using tracer kinetic modeling, the common kinetic models applied for analyses, the MR scanning techniques, methods of data processing, and evidence that supports its use from published clinical and research studies. Technical standardization and further studies will help to establish and validate perfusion MRI as a clinical imaging modality.

Understanding the neural underpinning of human gait and balance is one of the most pertinent challenges for 21st-century translational neuroscience due to the profound impact that falls and mobility disturbances have on our aging *** and gait control does not happen automatically,as previously believed,but rather requires continuous involvement of central nervous *** effectively exert control over the body,the brain must integrate multiple streams of sensory information,including visual,vestibular,and somatosensory *** mechanisms which underpin the integration of these multisensory signals are the principal topic of the present *** multisensory integration theories focus on how failure of cognitive processes thought to be involved in multisensory integration leads to falls in older *** emphasis,however,has been placed on specific contributions of individual sensory modalities to multisensory integration processes and cross-modal interactions that occur between the sensory modalities in relation to gait and *** the present work,we review the contributions of somatosensory,visual,and vestibular modalities,along with their multisensory intersections to gait and balance in older adults and patients with Parkinson’s *** also review evidence of vestibular contributions to multisensory temporal binding windows,previously shown to be highly pertinent to fall risk in older ***,we relate multisensory vestibular mechanisms to potential neural substrates,both at the level of neurobiology(concerning positron emission tomography imaging)and at the level of electrophysiology(concerning electroencephalography).We hope that this integrative review,drawing influence across multiple subdisciplines of neuroscience,paves the way for novel research directions and therapeutic neuromodulatory approaches,to improve the lives of older adults and patients with neurodegenerative diseases.

BACKGROUND Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) is a chronic, inflammatory disorder characterised by both intestinal and extra-intestinal pathology. Patients may receive both emergency and elective care from several providers, often in different hospital settings. Poorly managed transitions of care between providers can lead to inefficiencies in care and patient safety issues. To ensure that the sharing of patient information between providers is appropriate, timely, accurate and secure, effective data-sharing infrastructure needs to be developed. To optimise inter-hospital data-sharing for IBD patients, we need to better understand patterns of hospital encounters in this *** To determine the type and location of hospital services accessed by IBD patients in *** was a retrospective observational study using Hospital Episode Statistics, a large administrative patient data set from the National Health Service in *** patients with a diagnosis of IBD following admission to hospital were followed over a 2-year period to determine the proportion of care accessed at the same hospital providing their outpatient IBD care, defined as their ‘home provider'. Secondary outcome measures included the geographic distribution of patient-sharing, regional and age-related differences in accessing services, and type and frequency of outpatient ***95055 patients accessed hospital services on 1760156 occasions over a 2-year follow-up period. The proportion of these encounters with their identified IBD‘home provider' was 73.3%, 87.8% and 83.1% for accident and emergency,inpatient and outpatient encounters respectively. Patients living in metropolitan centres and younger patients were less likely to attend their ‘home provider' for hospital services. A comprehensive theoretical study of entropy generation during electroki-netically driven transport of a nanofluid is of prime concern in the paper. The flow is considered to take place on a wavy channel under the action of an external transverse magnetic field and an external pressure gradient. Navier slips at the walls of the channel and thermal radiation have been taken into account in the study. The theoretical study has been carried out by developing a mathematical model by taking into account the effects of Joule heating, viscous dissipation, and the transverse magnetic field on heat transfer during the electrokinetic transport of the fluid. The derived analytical expres-sions have been computed numerically by considering the nanofluid as a mixture of blood and ferromagnetic nanoparticles. Variations in velocity, streaming potential, temperature distribution, Nusselt number, and Bejan number associated with the electrokinetic flow in capillaries have been investigated by the parametric variation method. The results have been presented graphically. The present investigation reveals that streaming potential decreases due to the Hall effect, while for the cooling capacity of the microsystem, we find an opposite behavior due to the Hall effect. The study further reveals that the fluidic temperature is reduced due to increase in the Hall current, and thereby thermal irreversibility of the system is reduced significantly. The results presented here can be considered as the approximate estimates of blood flow dynamics in capillaries during chemotherapy in cancer treatment.
