Recent development of a refined multiple air pollutant emission inventory of vehicles in the Central Plains of China

Central Plains region of China,represented by Henan Province,is facing serious air pollution *** exhaust emissions had adverse impacts on the atmospheric *** first comprehensive and novel vehicle emission inventory for Henan Province using vehicle kilometers traveled,localized emission factors,and activity data at city-level was ***,3 km×3 km gridded emission and temporal variations were determined by using localized *** show that the total emissions of sulfur dioxide(SO2),nitrogen oxides(NOx),carbon monoxide(CO),particular matter with aerodynamic diameter<10μm(PM10),aerodynamic diameter<2.5μm(PM2.5),volatile organic compounds(VOCs),VOCs-evaporation and ammonia in 2015 were 9.1,533.4,1190.7,23.7,21.6,150.8,31.5 and 10.4 Gg,respectively,and the emission intensities of the above pollutants were 0.05,2.7,6.0,0.1,0.1,0.8,0.2 and 0.05 g/km,*** meeting the Primary China 1,China 3 and China 4 contributed 89.1%,82.7%,75.3%,75.5%,75.5%,68.2%,68.4%and 82.3%for SO2,NOx,CO,PM10,PM2.5,VOCs,VOCs-evaporation and ammonia emissions,***,Zhoukou,Nanyang,Luoyang,Shangqiu and Xinyang showed relatively higher emissions and contributed more than 50%of each *** spatial distribution indicated obvious characteristics of the road network,and high-level emission was concentrated in the downtown ***,the ozone formation potential(OFP)based on the estimated speciated VOC emissions was 569.6 Gg in Henan *** and aromatic hydrocarbons were the main species of VOCs,whereas olefins contributed the largest proportion of OFP,with 42.2%.

A FUMIGATION DIFFUSION MODEL DURING THE MOUNTAIN-VALLEY WIND SHIFT PERIOD

The fumigation during the mountain-valley wind shift has been first identified as a special type of pol-lutant diffusion using the monitoring measurements of dukou,Southwest Sichuan,*** a pheno-menon occurs frequently all year around but summer,particularly in winter months.A new model for thefumigation during the mountain-valley wind shift period is developed that allows satisfactory explanation ofthe *** indicate that the model can more accurately predict not only the high concentration ofPollutants but the time and locality of the occurrence as *** ground concentration of SO2 during fumigation is several times up to over a decade higher thanthe daily mean for the whole region,one of the main contamination processes that affect the air quality ofthe *** medel analyses provide a basis for more effective prediction of the quality and precautionstudy against the disaster.

Effects of shellfish culture on the community and mortality of zooplankton in a subtropical Bay

Spatial and temporal distribution of abundance,community structure and succession,and mortality of zooplankton were examined in a subtropical bay—the Qinzhou Bay,Guangxi,South China,to evaluate the impact of oyster culture on *** on zooplankton abundance,phytoplankton biomass,and environmental parameters were collected in 12 routine samplings at four sites in the Qinzhou Bay in *** show that the hydrological environment in the estuary affected the temporal variation of zooplankton of the Qinzhou ***,the oyster culture affected the spatial distributions of *** abundance of zooplankton outside the oyster farm was higher than that inside,whereas the mortality outside the oyster farm,on the contrary,was lower than that *** culture in the Qinzhou Bay had built a significant impact on the abundance and community composition of zooplankton,and the food shortage caused by the ingestion of oyster might exacerbate the mortality of zooplankton in the Qinzhou *** addition,the large-scale oyster culture increased the spatial heterogeneity of the community structure of zooplankton inside and outside the oyster *** of this study provide a reference for future policy-making in aquaculture management.

environmental factors influencing cyanobacteria community structure in Dongping Lake, China

The present study was conducted to provide a detailed understanding of the variation in cyanobacterial communities of Dongping Lake, which is the final water volume adjusting and storing lake in the east route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project in China. The spatial and temporal distribution of cyanobacteria was assessed from May 2010 to October 2012 based on monthly samples collected from three stations. Over the 30-month survey, 15 genera and 25 species of cyanobacteria were identified, with cyanobacterial abundance at each monitoring station ranging from undetected to 3.04×10^7 cells/L, average of 4.27×10^6 cells/L. The dominant cyanobacterial species were Pseudanabaena limnetica and Aphanizomenon issatschenkoi and not the usual bloom-forming genera such as Microcystis and Anabaena. Cyanobacterial community structure and water quality variables exhibited substantial changes over the period of survey. Redundancy analysis, Pearson correlations, and regression analysis were applied to analyze the relationships among the variables. The results suggested that temperature and chemical oxygen demand were key drivers of the cyanobacterial community composition in Dongping Lake. In addition, the concentration of inorganic nitrogen in the lake had a profound effect on the cyanobacterial abundance as a non-limiting factor in warm periods.

Variation of cyanobacteria with different environmental conditions in Nansi Lake,China

Nansi Lake is located on the east line of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project in China. A comprehensive study was carried out to investigate the spatial and temporal distribution of cyanobacteria in the lake from June 2008 to May 2011 based on monthly sample monitoring from five stations. The effect of environmental factors on cyanobacterial abundance was also evaluated. The eyanobaeterial community contained 15 genera and 23 species. The cyanobacterial abundance of each monitoring station ranged from 0 to 1.53x 107 cells/L with an average of 1.45~ 106 cells/L, which accounted for 11.66% of the total phytoplankton abundance. The dominant species of cyanobacteria were Pseudanabaena （32.94%） and Merismopedia （19.85%）, not the bloom-forming algae such as Microcystis and Anabaena. In addition, the cyanobacterial community structure and water quality variables changed substantially over the survey period. Redundancy analysis （RDA） suggested that temperature and phosphorus were important environmental factors that affected cyanobacteria. Temperature was the most important factor affecting cyanobacterial abundance. The effect of phosphorus on cyanobacterial abundance was more notable in warm periods than in periods with low temperature.

Effect of Urbanization on the Urban Meteorology and Air Pollution in Hangzhou

Urbanization has a substantial effect on urban *** can alter the atmospheric diffusion capability in urban areas and therefore affect pollutant *** study the effects of Hangzhou’s urban development in most recent decade on its urban meteorological characteristics and pollutant diffusion,90 weather cases were simulated,covering 9 weather types,with the Nanjing University City Air Quality Prediction System and high-resolution surface-type data and urban construction data for 2000 and *** results show that the most recent decade of urban development in Hangzhou substantially affected its urban ***,the average urban wind speed decreased by 1.1 m s-1;the average intensity of the heat island increased by 0.5℃;and the average urban relative humidity decreased by 9.7%.Based on one case for each of the nine weather types,the impact of urbanization on air pollution diffusion was investigated,revealing that the changes in the meteorological environment decreased the urban atmosphere’s diffusion capability,and therefore increased urban pollutant *** instance,the urban nitrogen oxides concentration increased by 2.1 μg m-3 on average;the fine particulate matter（diameter of 2.5 μm or less;PM2.5） pollution concentration increased by 2.3 μg m-3 on average;in highly urbanized areas,the PM2.5concentration increased by 30 μg m-3 and average visibility decreased by 0.2 km,with a maximum decrease of 1 km;the average number of daily hours of haze increased by 0.46 h;and the haze height lifted by 100-300 *** ＂self-cleaning time＂ of pollutants increased by an average of 1.5 h.

Source apportionment and ecological risk assessment of PAHs in surface sediments from the Liaodong Bay,northern China

The sources and ecological risk from sixteen polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in surface sediment in the Liaodong Bay were investigated from 2014 to *** total concentrations of PAHs ranged from 88.5 to 347.1 ng/g,and the high value occurred in the central region of the Liaodong *** analysis identified two site clusters representing the coastal region affected by land-based pollution and the central region of the Liaodong *** component analysis-multiple linear regression and diagnostic ratios suggested that PAHs contaminants originated from a mixture of combustion and petroleum sources,and the major was combustion *** on sediment quality guideline,naphthalene,acenaphthylene,acenaphthene,phenanthrene and dibenz[a,h]anthracene may occasionally cause adverse biological effects in some *** toxic equivalent concentrations of carcinogenic PAHs indicated low carcinogenic risk for the Liaodong *** ecological risk and toxic pollution levels of PAHs were higher in the central region than in the coastal region along the Liaodong Bay.

Influences of accumulated mileage and technological changes on emissions of regulated pollutants from gasoline passenger vehicles

In this study, the influences of accumulated mileage （deterioration） and technological changes （emission standards） on emission factors （EFs） of regulated pollutants （CO, HC, and NOx） from gasoline passenger vehicles were investigated based on Inspection and Maintenance （I/M） data using the chassis dynamometer method. The accumulated mileage of passenger vehicles was significantly linearly correlated with vehicle age. For most cases, the average EFs of CO, HC and NOx were significantly linearly correlated with accumulated mileage, indicating that emission deterioration had a significant impact on pollutant EFs. Implemented emission standards markedly influenced the EFs of regulated pollutants, and EFs markedly decreased with progressing emission standards. The present study also compared EFs of regulated pollutants between this study and the International vehicle emission （IVE） model, and marked differences in EFs were seen with variations in emission standards, vehicle types and accumulated mileage; NOx EFs in this study were higher than in the IVE model. The results provide new insight into estimating regulated pollutant emissions using the IVE model.

Mixing state of individual carbonaceous particles during a severe haze episode in January 2013,Nanjing,China

Chemical composition, hourly counts, and sizes of atmospheric carbonaceous particles were measured to investigate their mixing state on clear and hazy days. 823,122 carbonaceous particles with sizes 0.2-2.0μm was analyzed using a single-particle aerosol mass spectrometer from 1st to 17th January 2013. Particle types included biomass/biofuel burning particles （biomass）, element carbon （EC-dominant） particles that were also mixed with biomass/biofuel burning species （EC-biomass） or secondary species （EC-secondary）, organic carbon （OC）, internally mixed OC and EC （OCEC）, ammonium-containing （ammo- nium） and sodium-containing （sodium） particles. On clear days the top ranked carbonaceous particle types were biomass （48.2%）, EC-biomass （15.7%）, OCEC （11.1%）, and sodium （9.6%）, while on hazy days they were biomass （37.3%）, EC-biomass （17,6%）, EC-secondary （16.6%）, and sodium （12.7%）. The fractions of EC-secondary, ammonium （10%）, and sodium particle types were elevated on hazy days. Numbers of EC-secondary particles were more than four times those on clear days （4.1%）. Thus, carbonaceous particles mixed with ammonium, nitrate and sulfate during aging and transport, enhancing their light extinction effects and hygroscopic growth under high relative humidity on hazy days, further reducing visibility. Our real-time single-particle data showed that changes to mixing state had a significant impact on light extinction during haze events in Nanjing.

The Study of Single station Inverting the Sea Surface Current by HF Ground Wave Radar Based on Adjoint Assimilation Technology

This paper introduces the assimilation technology in an ocean dynamics model and discusses the feasibility of inverting the sea surface current in the detection zone by assimilating the sea current radial velocity detected by single station HF ground wave radar in ocean dynamics model. Based on the adjoint assimilation and POM model, the paper successfully inverts the sea surface current through single station HF ground wave radar in the Zhoushan sea area. The single station HF radar inversion results are also compared with the bistatic HF radar composite results and the fixed point measured results by Annderaa current meter. The error analysis shows that acquisition of flow velocity and flow direction data from the single station HF radar based on adjoint assimilation and POM model is viable and the data obtained have a high correlation and consistency with the flow field observed by HF radar.
