Helicobacter pylori(***)has a high rate of infection and antibiotic resistance and poses a serious threat to human *** of the main strategies to overcome drug resistance is to develop new treatment *** Chinese medicine(TCM)that is commonly used to treat many diseases in China can reduce drug resistance and increase the eradication rate of *** this paper,we review the research progress on TCM in the treatment of *** *** mechanism of action of TCM is reviewed and research and applications of TCM in the treatment of *** are ***,we discuss problems confronting the use of TCM for the treatment of *** infection and propose possible *** addition,the plans of TCM in *** treatment were also screened:Dampness-heat syndrome in the spleen and stomach,deficiency of spleen and stomach,and cold-heat complicated syndrome,and the effective components therein are *** antibacterial effect of TCM is relatively slow;for rapid improvement of the treatment effect of refractory *** gastritis,we provide an appropriate treatment regime combining TCM and Western medicine with immune-regulatory and synergistic antibacterial effects.

Studies on TCM Syndrome Types of Heroin-Dependence

Great advances have been achieved in abstinence treatment on heroin-dependence and prevention of drug-reusing, and a variety of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) drugs or preparations have been developed and applied in clinic in recent years. The Zheng Tong Ning Granules (正通宁颗粒冲剂), for example, has been tested on healthy volunteers and proved to be more tolerable than clonidine1. However, they are designed only for certain symptoms appeared in a certain stage of the abstinence treatment. A comprehensive study on TCM syndrome types of heroin-dependence and the relevant treatment are still lacking. Following is our pioneer attempt made in this field.

The E3 ubiquitin ligase,carboxyl terminus of heat shock protein 70(Hsp70)interacting protein(CHIP),also functions as a co-chaperone and plays a crucial role in the protein quality control *** this study,we aimed to investigate the neuroprotective effect of overexpressed CHIP on Alzheimer’s *** used an adeno-associated virus vector that can cross the blood-brain barrier to mediate CHIP overexpression in APP/PS1 mouse *** overexpression significantly ameliorated the performance of APP/PS1 mice in the Morris water maze and nest building tests,reduced amyloid-βplaques,and decreased the expression of both amyloid-βand phosphorylated *** also alleviated the concentration of microglia and astrocytes around *** APP/PS1 mice of a younger age,CHIP overexpression promoted an increase in ADAM10 expression and inhibitedβ-site APP cleaving enzyme 1,insulin degrading enzyme,and neprilysin *** of HSP70 and HSP40,which have functional relevance to CHIP,were also *** nuclei transcriptome sequencing in the hippocampus of CHIP overexpressed mice showed that the lysosomal pathway and oligodendrocyte-related biological processes were up-regulated,which may also reflect a potential mechanism for the neuroprotective effect of *** research shows that CHIP effectively reduces the behavior and pathological manifestations of APP/PS1 ***,overexpression of CHIP could be a beneficial approach for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

Dear Editor, Phenotypic drug discovery, which observes compound effects on physiology,has given way to targeting specific molecules, but has revived by using modern methods to find drugs based on therapeutic outcomes in disease models(Vincent et al., 2022). Osteoarthritis(OA) is a prevalent chronic joint disorder, primarily affecting knee joints, with osteoclast activation due to low-grade inflammation resulting in increased bone resorption and structural changes in the joint(Katz et al.,2021).

Potential applications of lactic acid bacteria and bacteriocins in antimycobacterial therapy

Tuberculosis(TB) is a communicable disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis(M. tuberculosis). WHO estimated that 10.4 million new(incident) TB cases worldwide in year 2016. The increased prevalence of drug resistant strains and side effects associated with the current anti-tubercular drugs make the treatment options more complicated. Hence, there are necessities to identify new drug candidates to fight against various sub-populations of M. tuberculosis with less or no toxicity/side effects and shorter treatment duration. Bacteriocins produced by lactic acid bacteria(LAB) attract attention of researchers because of its "Generally recognized as safe" status. LAB and its bacteriocins possess an effective antimicrobial activity against various bacteria and fungi. Interestingly bacteriocins such as nisin and lacticin 3147 have shown antimycobacterial activity in vitro. As probiotics, LAB plays a vital role in promoting various health benefits including ability to modulate immune response against various infectious diseases. LAB and its metabolic products activate immune system and thereby limiting the M. tuberculosis pathogenesis. The protein and peptide engineering techniques paved the ways to obtain hybrid bacteriocin derivatives from the known peptide sequence of existing bacteriocin. In this review, we focus on the antimycobacterial property and immunomodulatory role of LAB and its metabolic products. Techniques for large scale synthesis of potential bacteriocin with multifunctional activity and enhanced stability are also discussed.

Flavonoid moiety-incorporated carbon dots for ultrasensitive and highly selective fluorescence detection and removal of Pb^2＋

A new type of self-targeting carbon dot （CD-Fla） for the detection of the toxic heavy metal ion Pb^2＋ was synthesized via a one-pot hydrothermal route using flavonoid extracts of Ginkgo biloba leaves as the starting material. As-prepared CD-Fla exhibited excellent biocompatibility and strong blue emission with a quantum yield of 16.1% and significant fluorescence quenching selectivity for Pb^2＋ without using any additional targeting molecules. CD-Fla could detect Pb^2＋ quantitatively within the range 0.1-20.0 nM, with an ultrahigh sensitivity of 55 pM. The selectivity of CD-FIa for Pb^2＋ was nearly one order of magnitude higher than that for other relevant metal ions. This was much better than ever reported CD-based metal ion sensors. The high sensitivity and selectivity were due to the incorporation of certain flavonoid-like moieties into CD-Fla. CD-Fla was also demonstrated to be a good probe for fluorescence tracing of intracellular Pb^2＋. The capability of CD-Fla was further improved when it was doped on agarose hydrogel. CD-Fla-doped agarose hydrogel （CD-AHG） allowed for visual fluorescence detection and removal of Pb^2＋ from water. This was confirmed by testing CD-AHG in actual water samples taken from the Jialing River （Chongqing, China）. The Pb^2＋ adsorbed CD-AHG was regenerable in HC1 solution. This study will open a new avenue for synthesizing intelligent materials capable of simultaneously targeting, detecting, and treating heavy metal ions.

Cyclic GMP-AMP synthase(cGAS),combined with dsDNA,produces cyclic GMP-AMP(cGAMP)to stimulate STING and activates the kinases TBK1 and IKK to induce interferon and other cytokines,which play an important role in host *** addition to the traditional interferon inflammatory signaling pathway of cGAS,recently,Chen et al.1 discovered a new mechanism in which cGAS-cGAMP-STING activated autophagy through WIPI2 and *** is a process induced under various cellular stress conditions,such as oxygen deficit,nutrient deprivation,lack of growth factors,and infection,aiming to maintain the basic survival of cells or promote apoptosis of senescent cells.2,3 The activation of the autophagy-related(ATG)1/Unc-51-like kinase(ULK)complex is vital for autophagy *** ATG1/ULK1 complex phosphorylates or recruits its downstream proteins,contributing to autophagosome formation.3 Under the regulation of related genes,“cargo”is transferred to the lysosome and digested by various *** addition,cyclic GMP-AMP synthase(cGAS),which detects exogenous or self-damaged dsDNA in the cytoplasm after binding to dsDNA,produces cGAMP to activate the adaptor protein stimulator of interferon genes(STING),triggering the downstream pathway and secretion of interferon or other cytokines.
