Clinical efficacy of femtosecond laser-assisted phacoemulsification in diabetic cataract patients

BACKGROUND Diabetic patients with cataracts encounter specific difficulties during cataract surgery due to alterations in microcirculation,blood supply,metabolism,and the *** phacoemulsification may not fully tackle these issues,especially in instances with substantial preoperative *** utilization of femtosecond laser-assisted phacoemulsification,in conjunction with Toric intraocular lens(IOL)implantation,offers a potentially more efficient *** research seeks to evaluate the efficacy and possible complications of this approach in diabetic cataract *** To investigate the clinical efficacy and complications of femtosecond laser-assisted phacoemulsification combined with Toric IOL implantation in diabetic cataract patients,comparing it with traditional phacoemulsification *** This retrospective study enrolled 120 patients with diabetes cataract from May 2019 to May *** patients were divided into two groups:the control group underwent traditional phacoemulsification and Toric IOL implantation,while the treatment group received Len Sx femtosecond laser-assisted *** measures included naked eye vision,astigmatism,high-level ocular phase difference detection,clinical efficacy,and *** There were no significant preoperative differences in astigmatism or naked eyesight between the two ***,postoperative improvements were observed in both groups,with the treatment group showing greater enhancements in naked eye vision and astigmatism six months after the ***-level corneal phase difference tests also indicated significant differences in favor of the treatment *** This study suggests that femtosecond laser-assisted phacoemulsification combined with Toric IOL implantation appears to be more effective in enhancing postoperative vision in diabetic cataract patients compared to traditional methods offering valuable insights for clinical practice.

AIM:To describe the gonioscopic profile and intraocular pressure(IOP)in primary angle-closure(PAC)disease in patients presenting to a tertiary eye care network in ***:A cross-sectional hospital-based study that included 31484 new patients presenting between 2011 and *** with a clinical diagnosis of PAC/suspect/glaucoma were *** data was collected from an electronic medical record ***:PAC glaucoma(PACG)(47.55%)was the most common diagnosis followed by PAC(39.49%)and PAC suspect(PACS;12.96%).Female preponderance(54.6%)was noted with higher mean age at presentation among males(Pdr.me(PIS)was noted in 252 eyes and all showed post dilated rise of IOP.A post dilated IOP rise was also noted with 8.86%,33.95%and 57.19%eyes with PACS,PAC and PACG respectively with IOP rise between 6-8 mm Hg across the disease ***:The superior quadr.nt is the narrowest angle and difficult to open with indentation and post *** probability of angle opening is less in PIS especially the complete variety along with post dilated IOP *** post dilated IOP rise in angle closure eyes warrants a careful dilatation,especially with PIS.

Neuroimaging in atypical normal tension glaucoma:debating routine implementation in the absence of classic neurological findings

●AIM:To assess the necessity of neuroimaging in patients with neurological or atypical findings of normal tension glaucoma(NTG)who do not exhibit typical glaucoma manifestations.●METHODS:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 90 atypical NTG patients who underwent cranial magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)due to atypical *** demographic characteristics,clinical parameters,and radiological findings were recorded.●RESULTS:Among the patients,66.7%had abnormal radiology results,with the most common findings being gliosis(34.4%),sequelae of cerebrovascular events and vascular malformations(14.4%),and benign intracranial mass lesions(11%).Non-glaucomatous visual field defects were more frequently observed in patients with abnormal neuroimaging ***,there were no significant differences in intraocular pressure,optic disc parameters,retinal nerve fiber layer thickness,and visual field indices between patients with normal and abnormal radiological *** mean age of the patients was ***,there was a significant age difference,with the abnormal radiology group having a higher median age(P=0.021).●CONCLUSION:The study highlights the importance of cranial imaging in older NTG patients to detect underlying pathologies and prevent *** suggests that neuroimaging may be warranted in NTG patients with atypical visual field defects incompatible with ***,routine neuroimaging in all NTG patients without classic neurological signs may not be necessary.
