The Cryptocephalus marginellus （Coleoptera： Chrysomelidae） complex is composed by six species that are supposed to have originated by events of allo- or parapatric speciation. In the present study we investigated the altemative hypotheses that the bacterial communities associated with six populations of this species complex are shaped by environmental factors, or reflect the proposed pattern of speciation. The microbiota associated with the six populations, from five species of the complex, have been characterized through 16S rRNA pyrotag sequencing. Based on a 97% sequence similarity threshold, data were clustered into 381 OTUs, which were analyzed using a variety of diversity indices. The microbiota of C. acquitanus and C. marginellus （Calanques） were the most diverse （over 100 OTUs）, while that from C. zoiai yielded less bacterial diversity （45 OTUs）. Taxonomic assignment revealed Proteobacteria, Tenericutes and Firmicutes as the dominant components of these beetles＇ microbiota. The most abtmdant genera were Ralstonia, Sphingomonas, Rickettsia, and Pseudomonas. different strains of Rickettsia were detected in C. eridani and C. renatae. The analysis of β-diversity revealed high OTU turnover among the populations of C. marginellus complex, with only few shared species. Hierarchical clustering taking into account relative abundances of OTUs does not match the phylogeny of the beetles, therefore we hypothesize that factors other than phylogenetic constraints play a role in shaping the insects＇ microbiota. Environmental factors that could potentially affect the composition of bacterial communities were tested by fitting them on the results of a multi-dimensional scaling analysis. No significant correlations were observed towards the geographic distances or the host plants, while the composition of the microbiota appeared associated with altitude. AIM: To evaluate the relationship between hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) vascularity and grade; to describe patterns and vascular/histopathological variations of post-transplantation ***: This retrospective study included 165 patients(143 men, 22 women; median age 56.8 years, range 28-70.4 years) transplanted for HCC who had a follow-up period longer than 2 mo. Pre-transplantation dynamic computed tomography or magnetic resonance examinations were retrospectively reviewed, classifying HCC imaging enhancement pattern into hypervascular and hypovascular based on presence of wash-in during arterial phase. All pathologic reports of the explanted livers were reviewed, collecting data about HCC differentiation degree. The association between imaging vascular pattern and pathological grade was estimated using the Fisher exact test. All follow-up clinical and imaging data were reviewed for evidence of recurrence. Recurrence rate was calculated and imaging features of recurrent tumor were collected, classifying early and late recurrences based on timing(differentiation degree was collected where available. The presence of variations in imaging enhancement pattern and pathological grade between the primary tumor and the intrahepatic recurrence was evaluated and the association between imaging and histopatholgical variations was estimated by using the χ2 test. RESULTS: Of the 163 patients with imaging evidence of viable tumor, 156(95.7%) had hypervascular and 7(4.3%) hypovascular HCC. Among the 125 patients with evidence of viable tumor in the explanted liver, 19(15.2%) had grade 1, 56(44.8%) grade 2, 40(32%) grade 3 and 4(3.2%) grade 4 HCC, while the differentiation degree was not assessable for 6 patients(4.8%). The aim of the present study is to determine the effects of fish meal substitution by plant protein(soybean meal,wheat gluten and corn gluten) in turbot Psetta maxima juveniles’ diet in terms of growth,nitrogen budget and gut *** isoproteic and isolipidic diets(protein: 53%,lipid:22%) were manufactured using extrusion technology and common feed ingredients. diets were formulated containing 55(FM55),45(FM45),35(FM35) and 25%(FM25) fishmeal (FM).480 juveniles(initial body weight:23-24g) were equally distributed into twelve 450 liters tanks connected with a recirculation system(temperature 18℃±1,photoperiod 12hrs of light, dissolved oxygen above 6.5 ppm).Animals have been hand-fed twice a day to apparent satiation during the week and once on *** were tested in triplicate for 77 *** the beginning and at the end of the trial,fish were weighed to determine performances and pools of animals were taken for carcass proximate composition analysis,nutrient retention calculation and histopathological gut *** the end of the growth trial,ammonia excretion has been also measured during a 24 ***-way ANOVA with Newmann - Keuls’ post test were used to analyze data(P≤0.05).No differences in terms of palatability were observed and feed intake was similar among groups(from 1.14 to 1.19%day).At the end of the experiment,final weight ranged from 126.6(FM55) to 99.5 g(FM45).A significant decreasing of specific growth rate(SGR) was observed from fish fed diet FM55(2.14%day) to those fed diets FM35 and FM25(2.01 and 1.82%day,respectively) together with an increasing of feed conversion rate (FCR)(0.65 vs.0.70-074).Fish fed diet FM45 showed intermediate values for both indices(SGR: 2.09%day;FCR:0.67).No statistical differences were found in terms of PER or GPE between fish fed diet FM55 and *** fed diet FM55 presented a lower ammonia excretion in comparison with those fed diet FM 25(2.61 vs.3.41 g N-NH 100g protein intake).Experimental diets

Drug-induced liver injury is a significant and still unresolved clinical problem. Limitations to knowledge about the mechanisms of toxicity render incomplete the detection of hepatotoxic potential during preclinical development. Several xenobiotics are lipophilic substances and their transformation into hydrophilic compounds by the cytochrome P-450 system results in production of toxic metabolites. Aging, preexisting liver disease, enzyme induction or inhibition, genetic variances, local 02 supply and, above all, the intrinsic molecular properties of the drug may affect this process. Necrotic death follows antioxidant consumption and oxidation of intracellular proteins, which determine increased permeability of mitochondrial membranes, loss of potential, decreased ATP synthesis, inhibition of Ca^2＋-dependent ATPase, reduced capability to sequester Ca^2＋ within mitochondria, and membrane bleb formation. Conversely, activation of nucleases and energetic participation of mitochondria are the main intracellular mechanisms that lead to apoptosis. Non-parenchymal hepatic cells are inducers of hepatocellular injury and targets for damage. Activation of the immune system promotes idiosyncratic reactions that result in hepatic necrosis or cholestasis, in which different HLA genotypes might play a major role. This review focuses on current knowledge of the mechanisms of drug-induced liver injury and recent advances on newly discovered mechanisms of liver damage. Future perspectives including new frontiers for research are discussed.

BACKGROUND The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) pandemic produced changes in intensive care units(ICUs) in patient care and health organizations. The pandemic event increased patients’ risk of developing psychological symptoms during and after hospitalisation. These consequences also affected those family members who could not access the hospital. In addition, the initial lack of knowledge about the virus and its management, the climate of fear and uncertainty, the increased workload and the risk of becoming infected and being contagious, had a strong impact on healthcare staff and organizations. Objective: To evaluate incidence and prognosis of lacunar stroke in a prospective, population-based patient registry. Methods: The authors included first-ever strokes occurring between 1994 and 1998. They assessed incidence, risk factors, mortality, and recurrence in patients with lacunar stroke. Results: The authors identified 491 patients (15.3%) with lacunar stroke (252 men and 239 women) and 2,153 patients (67.3%) with nonlacunar stroke (998 men and 1,155 women). Crude annual incidence rate for a first-ever lacunar stroke was 33.0/100,000 (95%CI 30.2 to 36.0). At the univariate logistic regression analysis among patients with lacunar stroke there was a higher proportion of cigarette smoking and hypercholesterolemia and a lower proportion of chronic atrial fibrillation than in patients with nonlacunar stroke. For lacunar stroke, the 30-day case-fatality rate was 4.3%(95%CI 2.5 to 6.1) and the 1-year case-fatality rate was 13.0%(95%CI 10.0 to 16.0). During the first year of follow-up the average annual stroke recurrence rate was lower in patients with lacunar (2.83%; 95%CI 1.36 to 4.30) than in those with nonlacunar stroke (5.10%; 95%CI 4.17 to 6.03) while from the second year onward, rates were similar in both groups. Conclusion: In the short term, patients with nonlacunar stroke had more vascular events, but in the long term, the risk of death and of stroke recurrence was similar.
