In recent years, with rapid development of Sino-foreign cooperation in higher vocational colleges, it puts forward higher requirements for students＇ English comprehensive ability. According to the characteristics of higher vocational colleges of tourism, as well as the author＇ s own teaching experience, this paper elaborates the characteristics of English teaching in the Sino-foreign cooperative education, and the ways to cultivate and improve cross-cultural communication ability for students in tourism colleges.

A new organic-inorganic hybrid based on tungstophosphate anions and benzotria- zole cations, [Na（BTA）E（H2O）2]2[{Cd（BTA）4（H2O）}2（P2W18O62）]·6H2O （1）（BTA = benzotriazole） has been synthesized in aqueous solution and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. X-ray analysis showed that both {Na（BTA）2} and {Cd（BTA）4} units are supported on the a-Dawson polyoxoanion [P2W18062]6- via the surface bridging oxygen atoms. The electrochemical properties of 1 in aqueous solution are studied at room temperature. It was found that 1 presents good electrocatalytic activities for the reduction of NO2^-.

Objective To determine the thermic effect of food(TEF)in a Chinese mixed diet in young *** During the study,the participants were weighed and examined for body composition every *** total energy expenditure(TEE)of the participants was measured by the doubly labeled water method for 7 days,and during this period,basal energy expenditure was measured by indirect calorimetry and physical activity energy expenditure was measured by an *** value obtained by subtracting basal energy expenditure and physical activity energy expenditure from TEE was used to calculate *** Twenty healthy young students(18–30 years;10 male)participated in the *** energy intake of the participants was not significantly different from the Chinese Dietary Reference Intake of energy(P>0.05).The percentage of energy from protein,fat and carbohydrate were all in the normal *** intakes of fruits,milk and dietary fiber of the participants were significantly lower than those in the Chinese Dietary Guidelines(P0.05).When adjusted for body weight,there was no significant difference in either TEE or basal energy expenditure between the male and female participants(P>0.05).In addition,there was no significant difference in physical activity energy expenditure and TEF between the male and female participants(P>0.05).The percentage of TEF in TEE was 8.73%.Conclusion The percentage of TEF in TEE in a Chinese mixed diet in young people was significantly lower than 10%(P<0.001).A value of 10%is usually considered to be the TEF in mixed diets as a percentage of TEE.

In China, most directions of river flowing are from west to east. During historic period, since the water traffic played an important role, it was very important to form a cross-horizontal net of water carriage route. Canals should be dug so as to make up the lack of north-south river. Tongji Grand Canal, dug in the first year of Daye (605 A.D.) in the Sui Dynasty, was the important component of north-south system of Grand Canals in China. It promoted economic and social development of the Sui, Tang and Song dynasties (605 A.D.-1279 A.D.). As Tongji Canal (i.e. Tongji Grand Canal) flowed across the Huaibei Plain, which is aggraded by abundant mud and sand deposit resulted from the Huanghe (Yellow) River flooding, many traces (such as old channel) and human culture heritages were buried under mud-sand. Tongji Canal was silted up, and disappeared in the Jin Dynasty (1115 A.D.-1234 A.D.). From then on, there were many different stories about the flowing route of the canal in historical literature. Based on space-bone and air-bone remote sensing imagery, we attempt to search the old channel of Tongji Canal, and supplement historical record. The paper discusses transformation process of Tongji Canal’s traffic function, and resumptively summarizes the reasons of the transformation, which results from synthetic function of physical geographical, political, economic, and social conditions.

Technology and design are increasingly recognized as important drivers of social innovation(SI).While new-age technologies can disrupt the realm of social innovation through resource-efficient solutions and multiple outcome benefits,the appliction of design thinking approaches and techniques can enhance the potential for SI through humancentered participatory processes and a socially shared vision and *** extensive research focusing on SI practices driven by technology and design respectively,few studies have concentrated on the synergistic effects of technology and design in the field of *** paper addresses this gap through an exploratory study on the incorporation and role of technology in the practice of design for *** applying the mapping approach to a sample of 81 Design-enabled Innovation(DEI)pilot projects in the DESIGNSCAPES project,the distribution,hosts and manifestations of technology footprints are identified,taking into account the multi-phase innovation processes and multifaceted role of *** findings suggest that in design-supported SI,technology can be integrated in a systematic and conventional manner across a range of domains related to people,interactions,contexts,and artefacts and that its interaction with design actions is highly dependent on the different roles of design,followed by a further discussion of a conceptual argument regarding the possible role of technology in supporting design for *** on these findings and results,the article concludes with the limitations of the study and possible theoretical and managerial implications.

The innocent Tuwa people live in Kanas Lake, a world famous national reserve in northern Xinjiang. With therapid development of tourism today, Tuwa people are finally involved in tourism industry. The development of tourismis a two-edged sword. On the one hand, it boosts the revival of Tuwa culture, provides a large number of employmentopportunities and cross-cultural exchanges, and improves material welfare for Tuwa people. On the other hand, somedisadvantages have also resulted from tourism development, such as the unauthentic exhibition of Tuwa culture, limitedtourists, Tuwa group interaction, and limited material improvement for the Tuwa, etc. This paper takes Tuwa people asa case, illustrates the types, characteristics and the conditions for the development of Tuwa culture, explores the advan-tages and disadvantages resulting from the development of folk-custom tourism industry and then puts forwardsrecommendations on the protection for local cultures as follows: (1) attach great importance to Tuwa culture in thetourism development of Kanas Lake Visitor Attraction; (2) construct the aboriginal village with the consciousness ofprotection; (3) remove the Tuwa village; (4) consummate the management mode and let Tuwa people really benefit fromtourism; (5) restrict the grazing in the scenic spots and protect natural grassland; (6) promote Tuwa people’s ability ofself-supervision and self-management; (7) exhibit Tuwa culture authentically.

Gaurishankar Conservation Area(GCA)is a recently established natural-based protected area in Nepal,which has witnessed an increase in international *** optimize visitor experience,it is essential to examine motivations to visit along with visitors’characteristics and behavioral *** purpose of this study was to examine international tourists via a motive-based segmentation approach for *** addition,the study also intended to identify visitor segments’profile characteristics such as socio-demographic,travel behaviors,satisfaction,loyalty intention,and their willingness to pay for higher entrance ***(N=121)were collected among international tourists visiting GCA either as a primary destination or as a transit *** identified three distinct segments of visitors–‘local art and culture enthusiast’,‘escapist’,and‘nature adventurer.’Each cluster was different with regards to their sociodemographics,travelbehavior,satisfaction,willingness to revisit and recommend,and willingness to pay to support the environment and cultural resources,and local *** insights gained from motive-based segmentation can be beneficial to GCA to develop specific products and promotions and incorporate visitor monitoring&management programs.

Provenance of Cored Sediments from Active Margin off Southwestern Taiwan Deduced from Geochemical Constraints

The cored sediments sampled by R/V Marion Dufrense in the active margin off southwestern Taiwan on the east side of the Manila Trench are mostly muds consisting mainly of quartz, feldspar, illite, chlorite ＋ kaolinite with a trace amount of montmorillonite. The cored sediments have higher Fe, Ti, Cr, Cs, Li, Ni, and V but lower Ca, Na, Mn, Hf, Nb, Sr, Ta, U and Zr contents when compared with the upper continental crust（UCC, Taylor and McLennan, 1985）. The Eu/Eu＊ ratios of the sediments averaging 0.69 indicate that the recycling effect on the Eu anomaly may be minor and the contribution of mafic source rock was unimportant, which can also be depicted in the La-Th-Sc plot（Cullers, 1994） showing a ＂mixed origin＂ close to the felsic end member. The chemistry of the cored sediment can be explained by a mixing model designed by Ho and Chen（1996） with four end members i.e., greywacke, shale, quartzite and limestone, which are widely distributed in the Cenozoic formations of southern Taiwan with greywacke as the dominant contributor followed by shale.

Visitors abroad come on an inbound tourism (IT) trip. Travelling beyond one’s usual surroundingsfor no more than a year in one go, or no less than tourist culture is considered inboundtourism. A network called adaptive neural networks (ANN) is used in dynamic tourism *** methods are used to make neural networks flexible: weight adjustment, changes in neuronalcharacteristics, and changes in the network’s structural composition. One of the biggestproblems is that cultural clashes lead to many different places, which strain the transportationsystem. IT-ANN tools and technologies are discussed in this study, including the possibilities ofvisitor time and space-relationship data. As a result, inbound tourism doesn’t have to rely onweekend domestic travel because individuals who go on holiday overseas tend to return yearafter year. Finally, the neural network is equipped with a prediction model of travellers’ spatialand temporal distribution.
