Comprehensive molecular characterization to predict immunotherapy response in advanced biliary tract cancer:a phase II trial of pembrolizumab

Background:Immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs)are effective in a subset of patients with metastatic solid ***,the patients who would benefit most from ICIs in biliary tract cancer(BTC)are still *** and methods:We molecularly characterized tissues and blood from 32 patients with metastatic BTC treated with the ICI pembrolizumab as second-line ***:All patients had microsatellite stable(MSS)type *** of the 32 patients achieved partial response(PR),with an objective response rate(ORR)of 9.4%(95%confidence interval[CI],2.0–25.2)and nine showed stable disease(SD),exhibiting a disease control rate(DCR)of 37.5%(95%CI,21.1–56.3).For the 31 patients who had access to PD-1 ligand 1(PD-L1)combined positive score(CPS)testing(cut-off value≥1%),the ORR was not different between those who had PD-L1-positive(PD-L1+;1/11,9.1%)and PDL1-(2/20,10.0%)tumors(p=1.000).The tumor mutational burden(TMB)of PD-L1+BTC was comparable to that of PD-L1-BTC(p=0.630).TMB and any exonic somatic mutations were also not predictive of pembrolizumab *** analysis of blood and tumor samples demonstrated a relatively high natural killer(NK)cell proportion in the peripheral blood before pembrolizumab treatment in patients who achieved tumor ***,the tumors of these patients presented high enrichment scores for NK cells,antitumor cytokines,and Th1 signatures,and a low enrichment score for cancer-associated ***:This study shows the molecular characteristics associated with the efficacy of pembrolizumab in BTC of the MSS type.

Synthesis,Crystal Structure and Antimicrobial Property of Dehydroabietylamine Acetate

Two compounds of dehydroabietylamine acetate 1 and dehydroabietylamine 2 have been studied. The X-ray study demonstrated that compound 1 is in orthorhombic space group P212121 with a = 6.1310（12）, b = 10.605（2）, c = 35.717（7）A, C23H39NO3, Mr = 377.55, V = 2322.3（8）A^3, Z = 4, Dc = 1.080 g/cm^3, F（000） = 832,μ = 0.070 mm^-1, R = 0.0795 and wR = 0.1528. Hydrogen bonds are cross-linked by the N and O atoms to form one-dimensional chains running along the a axis. Antibacterial analysis shows strong activity against studied bacteria and fungi in compound 2.

FLO-2D Simulation of Mudflow Caused by Large Landslide Due to Extremely Heavy Rainfall in Southeastern Taiwan during Typhoon Morakot

Daniau Village in Daniau Creek Watershed, Taitung County, Taiwan, sustained damages from landslides and mudflows during Typhoon Morakot in 2009. The purpose of this study is to adopt the FLO-2D numerical model recognized by Federal Emergency Management Agency （FEMA） to simulate the mudflow, and the Daniau Village was used as a case study, along with rainfall and digital terrain data for this simulation. On the basis of sediment yields, the residual sediment volume in the landslide area was determined to be 33,276 ma by comparison of digital elevation models （DEMs） and by using the universal soil loss equation （USLE）. In addition, this study performed a hydrological frequency analysis of rainfall to estimate the flow discharge as conditions of the simulation. Results of disaster surveys were collected to compare with outputs of the numerical model. Results of the simulation conducted with FLO- 2D indicated that if the countermeasure was not destroyed, the drainage work would function without overflow. This study aimed to review the effectiveness of eountermeasure on the basis of simulation results obtained by using the model to provide references for future disaster prevention and resident evacuation plans.

Synchronization of the fractional-order generalized augmented L u¨system and its circuit implementation

In this paper, the synchronization of the fractional-order generalized augmented Lti system is investigated. Based on the predictor--corrector method, we obtain phase portraits, bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponent spectra, and Poincar6 maps of the fractional-order system and find that a four-wing chaotic attractor exists in the system when the system pa- rameters change within certain ranges. Further, by varying the system parameters, rich dynamical behaviors occur in the 2.7-order system. According to the stability theory of a fractional-order linear system, and adopting the linearization by feedback method, we have designed a nonlinear feedback controller in our theoretical analysis to implement the synchro- nization of the drive system with the response system. In addition, the synchronization is also shown by an electronic circuit implementation for the 2.7-order system. The obtained experiment results accord with the theoretical analyses, which further demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed synchronization scheme.

Stabilization of sand dunes with oil residue: Application to civil engineering construction and environmental implications

The present work ascertains the feasibility of oil residue treatment for stabilizing wind-blown sand dunes. Various combinations of natural collapsible saline from the Jandaq desert of Iran and oil residue from distillation towers of Iranian refineries were tested in laboratory experiments. Stabilized sands were evaluated in terms of geotechnical properties, permeability, and oil retention characteristics(i.e. bonding mechanisms, leaching and migrating behaviour of oil residue from the stabilized sands). Since the presence of oil residue in soils can pose an environmental threat, the optimum retention capacity of the stabilized sands is of critical concern. Relative to sand that was not augmented with oil residue, specimens made of 7% oil residues had the highest compressive strength, significantly higher cohesion and load bearing capacity, and considerably lower permeability. The effect of distilled water, saline water and municipal sewage on prepared specimens were also evaluated.

Nanometer lanthanum hydroxide modified anionic polymer for deep fluoride removal: Adsorption properties and mechanism study

The development of chemical industry has brought about serious fluoride pollution,and there is an urgent need to develop an adsorbent with high efficiency and stability for fluoride *** the remarkable adsorption capacity of lanthanum hydroxide hydrate for fluoride ions,its industrial application is limited by powder leaching and strict pH *** this study,lanthanum-containing anionic resin(HLO-D201) was synthesized by the method of precursor introduction and in-situ deposition,mainly by introducing La3+into the resin,adding sodium hydroxide to precipitate it in the resin pore,forming hydrated lanthanum *** characterization analysis showed that hydrated lanthanum oxide(HLO) was successfully introduced into the porous matrix of the resin and existed in the form of crystalline hydrated *** adsorption experiments demonstrated that HLO-D201could effectively adsorb fluoride ions in a wide pH range(2-10).Since nano La(OH)3was encapsulated in the resin pore,the loss of La(OH) 3 was greatly reduced,and under the condition of competitive adsorption of several coexisting ions,Only phosphoric acid group interferes obviously with the adsorption of F-.The synthesized HLO-D201 still showed good adsorption capacity after regenerated by NaOH-NaCl composite solution for six *** removal mechanism of fluoride by HLO-D201 is mainly electrostatic attraction and ligand ***,HLO-D201 is a kind of fluorine removal adsorbent with excellent performance and wide application prospects.

Evaluation of parameters affecting reflection cracking in geogrid-reinforced overlay

The influence of the most important parameters on the service life of reinforced asphalt overlay with geogrid materials in bending mode was examined by employing the Taguchi method and analysis of variance techniques. The objectives of this experiment was to investigate the effects of grid stiffness, tensile strength, coating type, amount of tack coat, overlay thickness, crack width and stiffnesses of asphalt overlay and existing asphalt concrete on propagation of the reflection cracking. Results indicate that the stiffnesses of cracked layer and overlay are the main significant factors that can directly improve the service life of an overlay against the reflection cracking. Generally, glass grid is more effective in reinforced overlay than polyester grid. Effect of crack width of the existing layer is significant when its magnitude increases from 6 to 9 mm.

Oil–water pre-separation with a novel axial hydrocyclone

A novel hydrocyclone with guide vanes, named as axial hydrocyclone(AHC), is designed to tackle the problem of oil–water separation faced by most mature oilfields. Optimal design of the AHC is carried out by using numerical methods. The effects of guide vanes, cone angle, tapered angle and overflow pipe on the oil–water separation are discussed in this paper. The results show that a double swirling flow is generated in the tapered section where oil–water separation occurs. Both the cylindrical and the tapered section have important influences on AHC performance. On the basis of single factor results, response surface methodology is employed to optimize the AHC design. The experimental results indicate that the novel AHC has an excellent performance for the oil–water separation.

An insight into the mechanical behavior of binary granular soils

This paper investigates the participation of the fines fraction in the load-carrying structure of binary mixtures of granular soils. For this purpose, various fractions of two fine sands were added to two coarse sands with the same particle size distribution, but different particle shape characteristics. Based on the results of 144 direct shear tests, it was found that fines participation in the load-bearing structure increases with fines content. At the same fines content, the participation of the fines in the load-carrying structure of loose mixtures is greater than in samples that were initially compacted. In addition, it was observed that fines participation rises with the increase in the average size of the fines fraction.
