Peripheral nerve injury is a common neurological condition that often leads to severe functional limitations and *** on the pathogenesis of peripheral nerve injury has focused on pathological changes at individual injury sites,neglecting multilevel pathological analysis of the overall nervous system and target *** has led to restrictions on current therapeutic *** this paper,we first summarize the potential mechanisms of peripheral nerve injury from a holistic perspective,covering the central nervous system,peripheral nervous system,and target *** peripheral nerve injury,the cortical plasticity of the brain is altered due to damage to and regeneration of peripheral nerves;changes such as neuronal apoptosis and axonal demyelination occur in the spinal *** nerve will undergo axonal regeneration,activation of Schwann cells,inflammatory response,and vascular system regeneration at the injury *** damage to target organs can occur,including skeletal muscle atrophy and sensory receptor *** then provide a brief review of the research advances in therapeutic approaches to peripheral nerve *** main current treatments are conducted passively and include physical factor rehabilitation,pharmacological treatments,cell-based therapies,and physical ***,most treatments only partially address the problem and cannot complete the systematic recovery of the entire central nervous system-peripheral nervous system-target organ ***,we should further explore multilevel treatment options that produce effective,long-lasting results,perhaps requiring a combination of passive(traditional)and active(novel)treatment methods to stimulate rehabilitation at the central-peripheral-target organ levels to achieve better functional recovery.

Background: A central aim of physical education is the promotion of basic motor competencies(in German: Motorische Basiskompetenzen;MOBAK), which are prerequisites for children's active participation in sports culture. This article introduces the MOBAK-1 test instrument for 6-to 8-year-old children and determines the construct validity of this test instrument. In addition, the relationship between MOBAK and motor ability(i.e., strength) as well as body mass index(BMI), sex, and age is ***: We analyzed data of 923 first and second graders(422 girls, 501 boys, age = 6.80 ±0.44 years). The children's basic motor competencies were assessed by the MOBAK-1 test instrument. Besides analyses of frequency, correlation, and variance, 3 confirmatory factor analyses with covariates were ***: We found 2 MOBAK factors consisting of 4 items each. The first factor, locomotion, included the items balancing, rolling, jumping, and side stepping; the second factor, object control, included the items throwing, catching, bouncing, and dribbling. The motor ability strength had a significant influence on the factors locomotion(b = 0.60) and object control(b = 0.50). Older pupils achieved better results than younger pupils on object control(b = 0.29). Boys performed better on object control(b = -0.44), whereas girls achieved better results in locomotion(b = 0.07).Pupils with a high BMI achieved lower performance only on the factor locomotion(b =-0.28).Conclusion: The MOBAK-1 test instrument developed for this study meets psychometric validity demands and is suitable to evaluate effects of sports and physical education.

Purpose: The purpose of this quantitative review was to summarize the state of Elliot's Hierarchical Model of Approach and Avoidance Motivation, specifically the antecedents of the 2 × 2 achievement goals in the sport, physical activity, and physical education literature. In addition,the intercorrelations amongst the 2 × 2 goals were also ***: A systematic review of the literature was conducted. Meta-analytic procedures were used with the mean weighted sample correlation(rw) as the effect size metric. The antecedents were coded by Elliot's(1999) antecedent categories. A number of moderators were coded a ***: Based on a fixed effects model from 47 published studies(total unique n = 15,413) that met inclusion criteria, the 2 × 2 achievement goals were significantly correlated amongst each other ranging from small to medium to large in meaningfulness. Concerning the antecedents, overall they were theoretically correct in associations, but only a few of the relationships were medium in meaningfulness. Most relationships were small in meaningfulness. Heterogeneity was present for the interrcorrelation and antecedent ***: Future research is encouraged to grow and enrich the understanding of achievement goals within Elliot's complete Hierarchical Model of Approach and Avoidance Motivation to include both antecedents and outcomes simultaneously to improve upon the understanding of achievement motivation in sport, exercise, and physical activity settings.

Objective:Running-related musculoskeletal injuries(RRMIs),especially stemming from overuse,frequently occur in *** study aimed to systematically review the literature and determine the incidence and prevalence proportion of RRMIs by anatomic location and specific ***:An electronic database search with no date beginning restrictions was performed in sportDiscus,PubMed,and MEDLINE up to June *** studies were used to find the anatomic location and the incidence proportion of each RRMI,whereas retrospective or cross-sectional studies were used to find the prevalence proportion of each RRMI.A separate analysis for ultramarathon runners was ***:The overall injury incidence and prevalence were 40.2%±18.8%and 44.6%±18.4%(mean±SD),*** knee,ankle,and lower leg accounted for the highest proportion of injury incidence,whereas the knee,lower leg,and foot/toes had the highest proportion of injury *** tendinopathy(10.3%),medial tibial stress syndrome(9.4%),patellofemoral pain syndrome(6.3%),plantar fasciitis(6.1%),and ankle sprains(5.8%)accounted for the highest proportion of injury incidence,whereas patellofemoral pain syndrome(16.7%),medial tibial stress syndrome(9.1%),plantar fasciitis(7.9%),iliotibial band syndrome(7.9%),and Achilles tendinopathy(6.6%)had the highest proportion of injury *** ankle(34.5%),knee(28.1%),and lower leg(12.9%)were the 3 most frequently injured sites among ***:The injury incidence proportions by anatomic location between ultramarathoners and non-ultramarathoners were not significantly different(p=0.798).The pathologies with the highest incidence proportion of injuries were anterior compartment tendinopathy(19.4%),patellofemoral pain syndrome(15.8%),and Achilles tendinopathy(13.7%).The interpretation of epidemiological data in RRMIs is limited due to several methodological issues encountered.

The purpose of this study was to examine whether interactive video game(IVG)training is an effective way to improve postural control outcomes and decrease the risk of falls.A convenience sample of 12 prefrail older adults were recruited and divided into two groups:intervention group performed IVG training for 40 minutes,twice per week,for a total of 16 *** control group received no intervention and continued their usual *** measures were centre of pressure(COP),mean velocity,sway area,and sway *** outcomes were Berg Balance Scale,Timed Up and Go(TUG),Falls Efficacy Scale International(FES-I),and Activities-Specific Balance Confidence(ABC).Assessment was conducted with preintervention(week zero)and postintervention(week eight).The intervention group showed significant improvement in mean velocity,sway area,Berg Balance Scale,and TUG(p<0:01)compared to the control ***,no significant improvement was observed for sway path(p=0:35),FES-I(p=0:383),and ABC(p=0:283).This study showed that IVG training led to significant improvements in postural control but not for risk of falls.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether interventions could improve peroneal reaction time in both healthy and those with injured ankle participants based on a systematic review and *** electronic search of the following database was carried out:MEDLINE,ScienceDirect and sportDiscus(1965–2020).Studies utilising sudden ankle inversion to measure peroneal reaction times were selected.28 studies were included for the systematic review,and 18 studies for the *** peroneal reaction time for pre-and post-intervention were compared into two groups,Group 1 was therapeutic exercise intervention,and Group 2 was prophylactic *** results showed a statistically significant difference in reduced peroneal reaction time in favour of participants in the exercise group(SMD=0.74,95%CI[1.09,0.39],pexercise,should be considered for rehabilitation and preventing of ankle sprain injury.

Illness narratives are stories of illness told by patients with chronic illness. One way of studying illness narratives is by considering illness narrative master *** examination of illness narrative master plots has revealed the importance of psycho-emotional information contained within the story that is told. There is a need for research to capture this information in order to better understand how common stories and experiences of illness can be understood and used to aid the mental well-being of individuals with chronic illness. The current editorial provides a suggestion of how this is possible. This editorial identifies that stories can be "mapped" graphically by combining emotional responses to the illness experience with psychological responses of the illness experience relating to hope and psychological adaptation. Clinicians and researchers should consider the evidence presented within this editorial as:(1) A possible solution for documenting the mental wellbeing of individuals with chronic illness; and(2) As a tool that can be used to consider changes in mental well-being following an intervention. Further research using this tool will likely provide insights into how illness narrative master plots are associated together and change across the course of a chronic illness. This is particularly important for illness narrative master plots that are difficult to tell or that are illustrative of a decline in mental well-being.

Physical activity and cognitive function among older adults in China:A systematic review

Background: Physical activity(PA) has been shown to benefit cognitive function in older adults. However, the cognitive benefits of exercising for older Chinese adults have not been systematically documented. This study was to conduct a systematic review on evidence that PA is beneficial for cognitive functioning in older Chinese ***: Major databases, including Pub Med, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Wan Fang, CNKI, and VIP, were searched for studies published in English or Chinese between January 2000 and December 2015. Randomized and non-randomized controlled trials(RCTs and non-RCTs), cohort,case-control and cross-sectional studies that evaluated PA and cognitive function among older Chinese adults were included in this ***: Of 53 studies included and reviewed, 33 were observational(22 cross-sectional, 7 case-control, and 4 cohort) and 20 were experimental(15 RCTs, 5 non-RCTs). Observational studies showed an association of reduced risk of cognitive-related diseases(i.e., mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer's disease, and dementia) through PA, whereas experimental studies reported exercise-induced improvement in multiple domains of cognitive function(i.e., global cognitive function, memory, executive function, attention, language, and processing recourse).Conclusion: This systematic review provides initial evidence that PA may benefit cognition in older Chinese adults. Further studies of individuals with cognitive impairments and prospective and RCT studies having high scientific rigor are needed to corroborate the findings reported in this review.
