Embedding hollow Co3O4 nanoboxes into a three- dimensional macroporous graphene framework for high-performance energy storage devices

Carbon materials are widely used for supercapacitor applications thanks to their high surface area, good rate capability, and excellent cycling stability. However, the development of high energy density carbon supercapacitors still remains a challenge. In this work, hollow Co3O4 nanoboxes have been embedded into three-dimensional macroporous laser-scribed graphene （LSG） to produce composite electrodes with improved electrochemical performance. Here, Co3O4 provides high capacity through fast and reversible redox reactions, while LSG serves as a conductive network to maintain high power. The open nanobox morphology is a unique solution for extracting the maximum capacity from Co3O4, resulting in electrodes whose surfaces, both internal and external, are accessible to the electrolyte. The electrochemical performance of the composite material is promising with a volumetric capacity of 60.0 C/cm^3 and a specific capacity of 542.3 C/g, corresponding to 682.0 C/g of the constituent Co3O4. With a low equivalent series resistance of 0.9 Ω, the Co3O4/LSG electrode is able to maintain 113.1% of its original capacity after 10,000 cycles. This work provides new insights into the design of high-performance carbon/metal oxide nano- composites for next-generation energy storage devices.

Second organic aerosol formation by irradiation of α-pinene-NO_x-H_2O in an indoor smog chamber for atmospheric chemistry and physics

Ozone(O3) and secondary organic aerosol(SOA) are considered to be the most serious secondary air pollutants of concern in most metropolitan areas,as well as for *** this study,O3 and SOA for-mation potential of α-pinene,the most abundant biogenic VOCs,is investigated at Tsinghua Indoor Chamber *** experiments were conducted under atmospheric relevant HCs/NOx ratios in both presence and absence of ammonia sulfate seed aerosol.A Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer system(3936,TSI) and a Condensation Particle Counter(3010,TSI) were used to study the SOA formation and a gas chromatograph(GC) equipped with a dB-5 column and a flame ionization detector(FId) was used to measure α-pinene *** results show that the presence of ammonia sulfate seed aerosol did not change the formation trend of O3,but significantly contribute to SOA formation.A strong linear relationship(r2 = 0.90) between SOA yield enhancement(△Y*) and surface concentration of seed aerosol(PMi,s)has been found,denoting that the PMi,s is the control factor for SOA yield *** the possible reason for the enhancement is acid-catalyzed heterogeneous reactions.

Effects of different planes of milk feeding and milk total solids concentration on growth,ruminal fermentation,health,and behavior of late weaned dairy calves during summer

Background:In recent years,there has been an increasing interest in using high quantities of milk or milk replacer(Mr)in heat-stressed calves to alleviate the negative effects of high environmental temperatures on their ***,observations have indicated a decline in growth performance in the weaning and postweaning period,which might be optimized with increasing total solids(TS)in milk and weaning *** study aims to optimize the effects of higher quantities of milk on late weaned calves'performance by increasing TS concentration or delivery route in summer ***:Forty-eight newborn Holstein calves were used in a 2×2 factorial arrangement with the factors of preweaning total plane of milk(PM)intake(low ***)and milk TS content(12%vs.17%).The treatments were(1)low PM(LPM)intake with 12%TS(TS intake=45.9 kg),(2)LPM intake with 17%TS(TS intake=65.1 kg),(3)high PM(HPM)intake with 12%TS(TS intake=63.7 kg);and(4)HPM intake with 17%TS(TS intake=90.3 kg).Calves were weaned at d 83,and the study was terminated at d 103 of *** data(every 10 day),skeletal growth(d 80 and 100),ruminal fermentation parameters(d 48 and 91),and behavioral measurements(d 69,70,93 and 94)were analyzed as repeated measurements with PrOC MIXEd of SAS 9.4(SAS Institute inc.,Cary,NC).results:Calves receiving HPM consumed less PMr from d 44 to 83 of age,but they had higher AdG from d 24 to 53 of age compared to those fed LPM(PM×age,Pddition,calves receiving milk with 17%TS had lower PMr intake from d 14 to 83 of age,but greater AdG from d 34 to 53 compared to those receiving milk with 12%TS(TS×age,Preceived HPM had greater skeletal growth parameters compared to LPMfed calves,with a similar effect evident for calves fed milk with 17%TS compared with those fed milk with 12%*** receiving milk with 17%TS had greater fecal scores and diarrhea occurrence than those fed milk with 12%TS in HPM,but not ***:increasing PM

The formation of Cu-Zr-Nb metallic glass was predicted by thermodynamic calculation and then five Cu-Zr-Nb ternary metallic multilayered films were designed and prepared by electron depositing. The metastable supersaturated solid solutions, amorphous phase as well as their composites were able to be obtained in these Cu-Zr-Nb metallic multilayered films upon ion beam mixing. The observations provided a clew to improve the ductibility of the metallic glasses. Some possible interpretations were presented concerning the formation of the crystalline-amorphous composites.

COUPLEd ANALYSIS FOr THE HArVESTING STrUCTUrE ANd THE MOdULATING CIrCUIT IN A PIEZOELECTrIC BIMOrPH ENErGY HArVESTEr

The authors analyze a piezoelectric energy harvester as an electro-mechanically coupled system. The energy harvester consists of a piezoelectric bimorph with a concentrated mass attached at one end, called the harvesting structure, an electric circuit for energy storage, and a rectifier that converts the AC output of the harvesting structure into a dC input for the storage circuit. The piezoelectric bimorph is assumed to be driven into flexural vibration by an ambient acoustic source to convert the mechanical energies into electric energies. The analysis indicates that the performance of this harvester, measured by the power density, is characterized by three important non-dimensional parameters, i.e., the non-dimensional inductance of the storage circuit, the non-dimensional aspect ratio （length/thickness） and the non-dimensional end mass of the harvesting structure. The numerical results show that：（1） the power density can be optimized by varying the non-dimensional inductance for each fixed non-dimensional aspect ratio with a fixed non-dimensional end mass; and （2） for a fixed non-dimensional inductance, the power density is maximized if the non-dimensional aspect ratio and the non-dimensional end mass are so chosen that the harvesting structure, consisting of both the piezoelectric bimorph and the end mass attached, resonates at the frequency of the ambient acoustic source.

drug-induced cardiomyopathy:Characterization of a rat model by[^18 F]FdG/PET and[^99m Tc]MIBI/SPECT

Background:drug-induced cardiomyopathy is a significant medical *** diagnosis of myocardial injury is based on initial electrocardiogram,levels of circulating biomarkers,and perfusion imaging with single photon emission computed tomography(SPECT).Positron emission tomography(PET)is an alternative imaging modality that provides better resolution and sensitivity than SPECT,improves diagnostic accuracy,and allows therapeutic *** objective of this study was to assess the detection of drug-induced cardiomyopathy by PET using 2-deoxy-2-[^18F]fluoro-d-glucose(FdG)and compare it with the conventional SPECT technique with[^99m Tc]-Sestamibi(MIBI).Methods:Cardiomyopathy was induced in Sprague dawley rats using high-dose ***[^18F]FdG/PET and[^99m Tc]MIBI/SPECT were performed before and after isoproterenol administration.[^18F]FdG(0.1 mCi,200-400μL)and[^99m Tc]MIBI(2 mCi,200-600μL)were administered via the tail vein and imaging was performed 1 hour ***-induced injury was confirmed by the plasma level of cardiac troponin and triphenyltetrazolium chloride(TTC)***:Isoproterenol administration resulted in an increase in circulating cardiac troponin I and showed histologic damage in the ***,preisoproterenol and postisoproterenol images showed alterations in cardiac accumulation of[^18F]FdG,but not of[^99m Tc]*** analysis revealed that myocardial uptake of[^18F]FdG reduced by 60%after isoproterenol treatment,whereas that of[^99m Tc]MIBI decreased by 45%.Conclusion:We conclude that[^18F]FdG is a more sensitive radiotracer than[^99m Tc]MIBI for imaging of drug-induced *** theorize that isoproterenolinduced cardiomyopathy impacts cellular metabolism more than perfusion,which results in more substantial changes in[^18F]FdG uptake than in[^99m Tc]MIBI accumulation in cardiac tissue.

Capillary electrochromatography （CEC） is a hybrid technique that couples the good selectivity of high-performance liquid chromatography （HPLC） and the high separation efficiency of capillary electrophoresis （CE）. Both charged and uncharged compounds can be separated effectively using CEC. In some cases, however, the bubbles that generated in the capillary column in pure CEC performed on commercial CE instruments will cause unstable current and even disrupt the separation when the concentration of buffer is very high. By applying pressure on the electrochromatographic separation via a micro-HPLC pump, pressurized capillary electrochromatography （ pCEC ） combines two driving factors of the electroosmotic flow （EOF） and the pressure flow, thereby increasing the speed and the selectivity of separation and suppressing the bubble formation. Three major types of protective coating of wood and wood-based materials have been considered. These three types include the coatings based on carboxyl-containing water-soluble polymers which are easily cross-linked by inorganic salts or OH-containing compounds, pH-sensitive coatings and polymer multi-layer structures. First of three mentioned approaches allows affecting permeability and enhancing the prevention the loss of water from the surface of wood to its surrounding. The advantage of the second approach is its ability to vary and purposely adjust the polymer composition and the number and distribution of -COOH groups in the chain which make the originally water-soluble polymers completely insoluble. The strong feature of the third approach which includes broad use of hydrogen-bonded films produced by layer-by-layer self-assembly is the possibility of manipulation of coatings stability after construction.
