Two-dimensional(2D)van der Waals magnetic materials have promising and versatile electronic and magnetic properties in the 2D limit,indicating a considerable potential to advance spintronic *** predictions thus far have not ascertained whether monolayer VCl_(3) is a ferromagnetic(FM)or anti-FM monolayer;this also remains to be experimentally *** theoretically investigate the influence of potential factors,including C_(3) symmetry breaking,orbital ordering,epitaxial strain,and charge doping,on the magnetic ground *** first-principles calculations,we predict a collinear type-Ⅲ FM ground state in monolayer VCl_(3) with a broken C_(3) symmetry,wherein only the former two of three t_(2g)orbitals(a_(1g),e_(g2)^(π)and e_(g1)^(π))are *** atomic layer thickness and bond angles of monolayer VCl_(3) undergo abrupt changes driven by an orbital ordering switch,resulting in concomitant structural and magnetic phase *** doping to the underlying Cl atoms of monolayer VCl_(3) without C_(3) symmetry simultaneously induces in-and out-of-plane *** can achieve a multiferroic phase transition if combined with the discovered adjustments of magnetic ground state and polarization magnitude under *** establishment of an orbital-ordering driven regulatory mechanism can facilitate deeper exploration and comprehension of magnetic properties of strongly correlated systems in monolayer VCl_(3).

Terahertz(THz)waves,known as non-ionizing radiation owing to their low photon energies,can actually ionize atoms and molecules when a sufficiently large number of THz photons are concentrated in time and ***,we demonstrate the generation of ionizing,multicycle,15-THz waves emitted from large-area lithium niobate crystals via phase-matched optical rectification of 150-terawatt laser pulses.A complete characterization of the generated THz waves in energy,pulse duration,and focal spot size shows that the field strength can reach up to 260 megavolts per *** particular,a single-shot THz interferometer is employed to measure the THz pulse duration and spectrum with complementary numerical *** intense THz pulses are irradiated onto various solid targets to demonstrate THz-induced tunneling ionization and plasma *** study also discusses the potential of nonperturbative THz-driven ionization in gases,which will open up new opportunities,including nonlinear and relativistic THz physics in plasma.

Photoelectrocatalytic seawater splitting is a promising low-cost method to produce green hydrogen in a large *** effects of Cl^(-)ions in seawater on the performance of a photoanode have been reported in previous ***,few researches have been done on the roles of Cl^(-)ions in a ***,for the first time,we find that Cl^(-)ions in the electrolyte improve the photocurrent of a Si/In_(2)S_(3) photocathode by 50% at-0.6 V_(RHE).An in-situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)characterization combined with the time-of-flight secondary-ion mass spectrometry by simulating photoelectrochemical conditions was used to investigate the interface charge transfer *** results suggest that there is an In_(2)^(+3)S_(3-x)(OH)_(2x)layer on the surface of In_(2)S_(3) in the phosphate buffer solution(PBS)electrolyte,which plays a role as an interface charge transfer mediator in the Si/In_(2)S_(3) *** In_(2)^(+3)S_(3-x)(OH)_(2x)surface layer becomes In_(2)^(+3)S_(3-x)(Cl)_(2x)in the PBS electrolyte with NaCl and accelerates the charge transfer rate at the In_(2)S_(3)/electrolyte *** results offer a new concept of regulating interface charge transfer mediator to enhance the performance of photoelectrocatalytic seawater splitting for hydrogen production.

Single-molecule magnetic tweezers(MTs) have revealed multiple transition barriers along the unfolding pathway of several two-state proteins, such as GB1 and Csp. In this study, we utilized MTs to measure the force-dependent folding and unfolding rates of both protein L(PLWT) and its Y47W mutant(PLY47W) where the mutation point is not at the force-bearing β-strands. The measurements were conducted within a force range of 3–120 pN. Notably, the unfolding rates of both PLWT and PWY47W exhibit distinct force sensitivities below 50 pN and above 60 pN, implying a two-barrier free energy landscape. Both PLWT and PLY47W share the same force-dependent folding rate and the same transition barriers,but the unfolding rate of PLY47W is faster than that of PLWT. Our finding demonstrates that the residue outside of the force-bearing region will also affect the force-induced unfolding dynamics.

Flexible hafnia-based ferroelectric memories are arousing much interest with the ever-growing demands for nonvolatile data storage in wearable electronic ***,high-quality flexible Hf_(0.5)Zr_(0.5)O_(2)membranes with robust ferroelectricity were fabricated on inorganic pliable mica substrates via an atomic layer deposition *** flexible Hf_(0.5)Zr_(0.5)O_(2) thin membranes with a thickness of∼8 nm exhibit a high remanent polarization of∼16μC/cm^(2),which possess very robust polarization switching endurance(>10^(10) cycles,two orders of magnitude better than reported flexible HfO_(2)-based films)and superior retention ability(expected>10 years).In particular,stable ferroelectric polarization as well as excellent endurance and retention performance show negligible degradations under 6 mm radius bending conditions or after 10^(4) bending cycles with a 6 mm bending *** results mark a crucial step in the development of flexible hafnium oxide-based ferroelectric memories for wearable electronic devices.

ABSTRACT A high-resolution meteorological dataset(≤10 km)over the Tibetan Plateau(TP)is the foundation for investigating and predicting the weather and climate over *** TP Subregional Dynamical Downscaling(TPSDD)dataset is a newly developed high-spatial-temporal resolution gridded dataset for land‒air exchange pro-cesses and lower atmospheric structure studies over the whole TP region,taking the climate characteristics of each TP subregion into *** dataset spans from 1981 to 2020,covering the TP with a temporal resolution of 2 hr and spatial resolution of 10 *** elements of the dataset include near-surface land-air exchange parameters,such as downward/upward long-wave/shortwave radiation flux,sensible heat flux,latent heat flux,*** addition,the vertical distributions of 3-dimensional wind,temperature,humidity,and pressure from the surface to the lower stratosphere are also *** evaluations were con-ducted to verify the performance of the TPSDD dataset by compar-ing TPSDD/reanalysis with surface and vertical observations through the calculation of statistical *** results demonstrate the accuracy and superiority of this dataset against reanalysis data,which provides great potential for future climate change research.

Two-dimensional hafnium-based semiconductors and their heterostructures with native oxides have been shown unique physical properties and potential electronic and optoelectronic ***,the scalable synthesis methods for ultrathin layered hafnium-based semiconductor laterally epitaxy growth and its heterostructure are still restricted,also for the understanding of its formation ***,we report the stable sublimation of alkali halide vapor assisted synthesis strategy for high-quality 2D HfSe_(2) nanosheets via chemical vapor ***-crystalline ultrathin 2D HfSe_(2) nanosheets were systematically grown by tuning the growth parameters,reaching the lateral size of 6‒40μm and the thickness down to 4.5 *** scalable amorphous HfO_(2)and HfSe_(2)heterostructures were achieved by the controllable oxidation,which benefited from the approximate zero Gibbs free energy of unstable 2D HfSe_(2) *** crystal structure,elemental,and time dependent Raman characterization were carried out to understand surface precipitated Se atoms and the formation of amorphous Hf−O bonds,confirming the slow surface oxidation and lattice incorporation of oxygen *** relatively smooth surface roughness and electrical potential change of HfO_(2)−HfSe_(2) heterostructures indicate the excellent interface quality,which helps obtain the high performance memristor with high on/off ratio of 105 and long retention period over 9000 *** work introduces a new vapor catalysts strategy for the synthesis of lateral 2D HfSe_(2) nanosheets,also providing the scalable oxidation of the Hf-based heterostructures for 2D electronic devices.

Quantitative method to predict the energetics of helium-nanocavities interactions in metal systems based on electrophobic interaction

Energetics of helium-nanocavities interactions are crucial for unveiling underlying mechanisms of nanocavity evolution in nuclear ***,it becomes intractable and even not feasible to obtain these energetics via atomic simulations with increasing nanocavity size and increasing helium content in ***,a universal scaling law of helium-induced interaction energies in nanocavities in metal systems is proposed based on electrophobic interaction of *** on this scaling law and ab-initio calculations,a predictive method for binding energies of helium and displacement defects to nanocavities of arbitrary sizes and with different helium/vacancy ratios is established for BCC iron as a representative and validated by atomic *** predictive method reveals that the critical helium/vacancy ratio for helium-enhanced vacancy binding to nanocavities in-creases with increasing nanocavity size,and the helium/vacancy ratio giving the highest stability of nanocavities is about *** Ostwald ripening of nanocavities is delayed by helium to higher temper-atures due to reduced vacancy de-trapping rates from *** proposed scaling law can be generalized to many metal systems studied in the nuclear materials *** readily coupled into mesoscale models of irradiation damages,this predictive method facilitates clarifying helium role in cavity swelling of metallic nuclear materials.
