The focus of this review is to highlight the importance of glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor （GDNF） for the motor nervous system. GDNF is the most potent survival factor for motor neurons, where it enhances maintenance and survival of both developing and mature motor neurons in vivo and in vitro. GDNF aids in neuromuscular junction formation, maintenance, and plasticity, where skeletal muscle-derived GDNF may be responsible for this phenomenon. Increased levels of physical activity can increase GDNF protein levels in skeletal muscle, where alterations in acetylcholine and acetylcholine receptor activation may be involved in regulation of these changes observed. With inactivity and disuse, GDNF expression shows different patterns of regulation in the central and peripheral nervous systems. Due to its potent effects for motor neurons, GDNF is being extensively studied in neuromuscular diseases.

To characterize recombinant AAV2 （rAAV2）-mediated expression of L 132C/T 159C ChR2 mutant in retinal ganglion cells （RGCs） of young adult cynomolgus monkeys, rAAV2 vectors carrying a fusion construct of the ChR2 mutant and GFP （ChR2-GFP） were delivered to the vitreous chamber by intravitreal injection. Expression patterns of the ChR2 mutant in RGCs were examined by immunohistochemical methods three months after injection. The RNA-binding protein with multiple splicing （RBPMS） was used as an RGC specific marker to differentiate RGCs from other retinal neurons and non-neuronal cells. The numbers of RBPMS＋ and GFP＋ double-labeled RGCs in the central foveal varied with the eccentricity. The expression peaked within 100 p.m from the edge of the foveola and drastically decreased to a single superficial RGC layer approximately 300 ~tm from the edge. On average, the ratio of the double-labeled RGCs versus RBPMS＋ RGCs approached 0.324-0.15 （n=14 fields） at the central foveal region （0.1 to 0.53 mm）. We observed that the ratio reached 0.784-0.16 （n=21 fields） at peripheral retinal locations （eccentricity 〉7 mm）. This investigation demonstrates that RBPMS could serve as a valuable RGC specific marker for future investigations in this field.

Two processes of coupled difference-frequency axially phase-matched parametric six-wave mixing are carried out in Rb vapour by two-photon excitation Using fs laser pulses, and parametric six-wave mixing signals in the infrared and near infrared regime are detected. The infrared parametric six-wave mixing signals are up-converted into the visible spectral range by sum-frequency mixing with the pump laser in a LiIO3 crystal. Moreover, quantum beating at 608 cm^-1, corresponding to the 7s - 5d energy difference in Rb, is observed from the sum-frequency signal at 495nm. As a result, we obtain modulated light signals in the visible, near infrared and infrared spectral ranges, and study the interference between 7s and 5d states of Rb.

Two new saponins named davuricoside H and davuricoside K were isolated from the whole plant of Lysimachia davurica. The structures of davuricoside H and davuricoside K were determined by 1-D and 2-D NMR, MS techniques, and chemical methods to be 3β,16α ,28-trihydroxy-olean-12-en-30-oic acid-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-（ 1→2 ）- [β-D-glucopyranosyl-（ 1 → 4 ） ] -α-L-arabinopyranoside and 3β,16or ,28-trihydroxy-olean-12-en-30-oic acid-3-O-{β-D- glucopyranosyl- （ 1 →2 ） - [β-D-glucopyranosyl- （ 1 →4 ） ] -α-L-arabinopyranosyl } -30-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-ester.

The oxygen isotope study has been carried out for quartz-veins within eclogrte and associated gneiss from the Donghai district in the western part of the Sulu terrane, eastern China. Oxygen isotope equilibrium has been achieved between quartz and other minerals, yielding the isotope temperatures of 660-840℃ for quartz veins, 595-725℃ for eclogites, and 505-665℃ for gneiss δ18O values of vein-quartz vary from - 5.3‰ to + 7 5‰, but resemble δ 18O values of host eclogites, indicating a close approach of isotopic equilibrium between metamorphre fluids and the host rocks. An interally buffered fluid flow is implicated during ultrahigh-pressure metamorphism and subsequent retrogression. The fluid would be produced by dehydration of hydrothermally altered eclogite precursors and thus Us δ18O values were governed by the nature of host eclogites. These provide evidence for the fracture flow of meta-morphic fluid during eclogitization.

Trading rules performing well on a given data set seldom lead to promising out-of-sample results, a problem which is a consequence of the in-sample data snooping bias. Efforts to justify the selection of trading rules by assessing the out-of-sample performance will not really remedy this predica- ment either, because they are prone to be trapped in what is known as the out-of-sample data-snooping bias. Our approach to curb the data-snooping bias consists of constructing a framework for trading rule selection using a-priori robustness strategies, where robustness is gauged on the basis of time- series bootstrap and multi-objective criteria. This approach focuses thus on building robustness into the process of trading rule selection at an early stage, rather than on an ex-post assessment of trading rule fitness. Intra-day FX market data constitute the empirical basis of the proposed investigations. Trading rules are selected from a wide universe created by evolutionary computation tools. The authors show evidence of the benefit of this approach in terms of indirect forecasting accuracy when investing in FX markets.

We present a neuro-heuristic computing platform for finding the solution for initial value problems （IVPs） of non- linear pantograph systems based on functional differential equations （P-FDEs） of different orders. In this scheme, the strengths of feed-forward artificial neural networks （ANNs）, the evolutionary computing technique mainly based on genetic algorithms （GAs）, and the interior-point technique （IPT） are exploited. Two types of mathematical models of the systems are constructed with the help of ANNs by defining an unsupervised error with and without exactly satisfying the initial conditions. The design parameters of ANN models are optimized with a hybrid approach GA-IPT, where GA is used as a tool for effective global search, and IPT is incorporated for rapid local convergence. The proposed scheme is tested on three different types oflVPs of P-FDE with orders 1-3 The correctness of the scheme is established by comparison with the existing exact solutions. The accuracy and convergence ofthc proposed scheme are further validated through a large number of numerical experiments by taking different numbers of neurons in ANN models.

Modern logistics is a new industry during the construction of national economy. Based on analyzing the environmental problem that was led by the limitation of the strategy during enacting the program of the modern logistics, SEA for modern logistics was implemented. In this paper, procedure and indicator system in the SEA are constructed, and Environmental Check List to identify environmental impact factors of SEA for modern logistics is established. And a conception that indicates friendly degree of logistics system with resources and environment, degree of green, is introduced. With the example of modern logistics program of Dalian in China, two methods are applied, AHP and Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation Method, in the implement of SEA for modern logistics development. It is concluded that degree of green of modern logistics in Dalian is high. However, several important factors should be paid much attention to in the SEA for modern logistics as well as in the formulation and implement of modern logistics in Dalian.

Three-dimensional simulation of cold-front rain-band (NCFR) associated with a straight cold front has been studied by use of a non-hydrostatic, full compressible storm-scale model (ARPS) including multi-phase microphysical parameterization. The dynamical and physical features of the frontal cloud de-velopment have been well simulated and analyzed. It is in evidence that the frontal cloud is triggered by the updraft of the secondary frontal circulation. However, the long persistence of diabatic frontogenesis only can be attributed to positive feedback between the frontal baroclinicity and the prefrontal latent heat release. The simulations indeed demonstrate that the potential temperature gradient enhancement in front zone is strongly related with the re-distribution of cloud moisture, by the action of tilted updraft. In conse-quence, the splice of cooling and heating pool that is respectively created from the evaporation of cloud wat-er and condensing J freezing of water vapor J rain droplet, wich is in favor of the strong contrast of cool and warm air mass across the frontal zone to diabatic frontogenesis.

In China, most directions of river flowing are from west to east. During historic period, since the water traffic played an important role, it was very important to form a cross-horizontal net of water carriage route. Canals should be dug so as to make up the lack of north-south river. Tongji Grand Canal, dug in the first year of Daye (605 A.D.) in the Sui Dynasty, was the important component of north-south system of Grand Canals in China. It promoted economic and social development of the Sui, Tang and Song dynasties (605 A.D.-1279 A.D.). As Tongji Canal (i.e. Tongji Grand Canal) flowed across the Huaibei Plain, which is aggraded by abundant mud and sand deposit resulted from the Huanghe (Yellow) River flooding, many traces (such as old channel) and human culture heritages were buried under mud-sand. Tongji Canal was silted up, and disappeared in the Jin Dynasty (1115 A.D.-1234 A.D.). From then on, there were many different stories about the flowing route of the canal in historical literature. Based on space-bone and air-bone remote sensing imagery, we attempt to search the old channel of Tongji Canal, and supplement historical record. The paper discusses transformation process of Tongji Canal’s traffic function, and resumptively summarizes the reasons of the transformation, which results from synthetic function of physical geographical, political, economic, and social conditions.
