Hypertriglyceridemia is the third leading cause of acute pancreatitis(AP),and its incidence is *** to its relatively insidious etiology,it is easy to be ignored in the early *** China,Chaiqin Chengqi Decoction(CQCQD)has long been employed for treating *** To evaluate the effectiveness of CQCQD in patients diagnosed with mild/moderately severe hypertriglyceridemic AP(HTG-AP).METHODS In this study,the clinical data of 39 patients with HTG-AP admitted from January 2019 to November 2022 were *** changes of blood lipids,gastrointestinal symptoms,and abdominal pain before and after treatment were analyzed and compared between the two *** Twenty patients were treated with the conventional HTG-AP regimen,and 19 patients were additionally treated with *** receiving treatment,the triglycerides(TG)level of the CQCQD group was lower than that of the CQCQD group(3.14±0.25 mmol/L vs 4.96±0.47 mmol/L,P<0.01).After 3 d of treatment,the patients in the CQCQD group had more bowel movements than the control group(2.51±0.25 times vs 1.00±0.17 times,P=0.01).The gastrointestinal function of most patients returned to normal,and the acute gastrointestinal injury score was significantly lower than that of the control group(0.11±0.07 vs 0.42±0.11,P<0.01).CONCLUSION In patients with HTG-AP,CQCQD can significantly reduce the TG level,shorten the recovery time of defecation,significantly improve the gastrointestinal function.

Introduction: Autoimmune diseases are characterized by a very large clinical polymorphism that can lead to a diagnostic wandering. So, we aimed to determine their epidemiological profile outside the context of Dakar (capital of Senegal) where the technical plateau is more elevated. Methodology: We conducted a retrospective descriptive and observational study from January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2017. All patients admitted or followed in outpatient in the internal medicine departments of the Saint Jean de Dieu and Regional Hospitals of Thiès as well as in the dermatology department of the CHRT (Regional Hospital Center of Thiès), and who met the MAI criteria (autoimmune diseases) have been included. The data were collected on a standardised sheet and analysed by EPI INFO version 7.2. Results: A total of 121 patients were included out of 25951 records i.e a prevalence of 0.46% in internal medicine departments. In dermatology, out of 31973 patients, 95 had MAIS (systemic autoimmune diseases): 0.29% as hospital prevalence. The average age was 40.7 years in internal medicine departments compared to 37.66 years 14.8 years in the dermatology department. Patients aged 30 to 59 years represented 57.89% of the study population. The sex ratio (H/F) was 0.3 in the internal medicine departments compared to 0.17 in the dermatology department. Circumstances of discovery were incidental in 16.52% and clinical in 3.30%. Biermer disease accounted for 29.75% of organ-specific MAI. Concerning systemic presentations, rheumatoid arthritis (RA) was present in 23.14%. Lupus was more representative in dermatology (65.2%) as well as systemic scleroderma (21%), dermatomyositis (6.3%). Cytopenia was found in 105 patients, showing in detail anemia (42.9%);leukopenia (14.8%);thrombocytopenia (2.4%). Autoantibodies were tested in 58 patients (47.9%). Skin histology was contributory in all cases of systemic scleroderma and in 5 cases of lupus. The main therapy prescribed was corticosteroid therapy

In this editorial,we discuss the article by Agatsuma et *** concentrate specifically on the current routinely used screening tests recommended by society guidelines and delve into the significance of early diagnosis of colorectal cancer(CRC)and its substantial impact on both incidence and mortality *** is highly recommended,and an early diagnosis stands out as the most crucial predictor of survival for CRC ***,it is essential to identify and address the barriers hindering adherence to screening measures,as these barriers can vary among different ***,we focus on screening strategy optimization by selecting high-risk *** with comorbidities who regularly visit hospitals have been diagnosed at an early stage,showing no significant difference compared to patients undergoing regular *** finding highlights the importance of extending screening measures to include patients with comorbidities who do not routinely visit the hospital.

Therapeutic Itinerary of Patients Followed for Connectivitis in the internal medicine department of the CNHU-HKM of Cotonou (Benin)

Introduction: In black Africa, connectivites have been for a long time a source of diagnostic erraticity because of their clinical polymorphism. This study aims to determine the therapeutic itinerary of patients followed for connectivitis in the internal medicine department of the CNHU HKM of Cotonou. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional study that included patients followed for connectivitis in the HKM-Cotonou internal medicine department from January 2010 to October 2018. Results: Out of 3600 patients hospitalized in the study period, 21 had connectivitis, i.e. a hospital frequency of 0.58%. Of the 21 patients collected, 18 met the inclusion criteria. The mean age was 40 (±11) years old and the youngest was of 21 and the oldest 58. The sex ratio was 17.9. The “Fon” ethnic group was the most represented (33.3%) and 15 (83.3%) subjects were Christians. Systemic lupus erythematosus was the most frequent connectivitis (55.6%). The average time of consultation was 38 months. Witchcraft was the most incriminating cause (78%). Ten (55.5%) patients had resorted to self-medication as their first choice of treatment, 5 (27.8%) to traditional medicine treatment and 3 (16.7%) to prayer for healing. The reasons for the first choice of treatment were satisfaction (44.4%), financial problems (27.8%), trivialization of the disease (16.7%), and advice from family and friends (11.1%). The consultation at the CNHU followed a referral from a first contact health structure (61%) or an initiative of the patient (27.8%). Conclusion: Connectivitis is a source of diagnostic error in our context. Awareness must be raised among patients for an early consultation at the first symptoms.
