Recent insights into the characteristics and role of peritoneal macrophages from ascites of cirrhotic patients

Salmonella enterica is one of the most common bacterial pathogens in humans and *** studies on the trends and geographical distribution of antimicrobial-resistant Salmonella and dominant serovars have been well studied in European and American countries while not in ***,taking the One-Health strategy,we used>35 000 Salmonella enterica isolates to explore the temporal and spatial dynamics of dominant serovars in *** found that Salmonella Typhimurium was the dominant serovar causing human infection in China,which was consistent with Australia but inconsistent with North American and European *** proportion of Salmonella serovars Typhimurium,London,Rissen,Corvallis,Meleagridis,Kentucky,and Goldcoast showed an increasing trend during *** randomly selected 1962 isolates for comparative genomics and antimicrobial resistance studies and found that the number of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs) per isolate increased 1.84 and 2.69 times of human and non-human origins,respectively,spanning 14 *** proportion of antimicrobial-resistant Salmonella isolates had an increasing trend during 2006-2019,especially beta-lactam,quinolone,tetracycline,and rifampicin ***,we found that higher diversity of sequence types(STs) in *** than in other serovars,ST34 from pig and ST 19 from chicken origin,were mainly associated with isolates causing child and adult gastro-infection,*** results fill in the data gap on the trends of dominant serovars and antimicrobial resistance of Salmonella enterica in *** data provide useful information for public health decision-makers prioritizing interventions for foodborne diseases and food safety.

Dear Editor,Toxoplasma gondii is broadly distributed worldwide,and infects nearly all warm-blooded animals(Montoya and Liesenfeld,2004).Its primary infections in pregnant women may lead to abortion,stillbirth and other conditions,and it also attributes largely to encephalitis,retinochoroiditis and other serious diseases in immunocompromised individuals(Moncada and Montoya,2012).Rac1 is a small GTPase in the Rho family that plays an important role in cytoskeleton reorganization(Hall,1998).Rac1 GTPase is reported to be activated by infection of Chlamydia pneumoniae(Zhang et al.,2014).

Infectious diseases severely threaten public health and global *** addition to transmission through the air,pathogenic microorganisms have also been detected in environmental liquid samples,such as sewage *** biochemical detection methodologies are time-consuming and cost-ineffective,and their detection limits hinder early *** the present study,ultrafine plasmonic fiber probes with a diameter of 125μm are fabricated for clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/CRISPR-associated protein(CRISPR/Cas)-12a-mediated sensing of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2).Single-stranded DNA exposed on the fiber surface is trans-cleaved by the Cas12a enzyme to release gold nanoparticles that are immobilized onto the fiber surface,causing a sharp reduction in the surface plasmon resonance(SPR)*** proposed fiber probe is virus-specific with the limit of detection of~2,300 copies/ml,and genomic copy numbers can be reflected as shifts in wavelengths.A total of 21 sewage water samples have been examined,and the data obtained are consistent with those of quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qPCR).In addition,the Omicron variant and its mutation sites have been fast detected using S gene-specific *** study provides an accurate and convenient approach for the real-time surveillance of microbial contamination in sewage water.

Colonic vitamin D receptor expression is inversely associated with disease activity and jumonji domain-containing 3 in active ulcerative colitis

BACKGROUND The expression of jumonji domain-containing 3(Jmjd3)and trimethylated H3 lysine 27(H3K27me3)in active ulcerative colitis(UC)and the correlation between vitamin D receptor(VDR)and the Jmjd3 pathway are *** To study the relationship between VDR,Jmjd3 and H3K27me3 in patients with active *** One hundred patients with active UC and 56 healthy controls were enrolled in this *** patients with active UC were divided into groups according to mild(n=29),moderate(n=32)and severe(n=29)disease activity based on the modified Mayo *** D levels were measured by *** mucosal tissues from UC patients and controls were collected by *** expression of VDR,Jmjd3 and H3K27me3 in the intestinal mucosa was determined by immunohistochemistry *** Patients with active UC had lower levels of serum vitamin D(13.7±2.8 ng/mL,P<0.001)than the controls(16.2±2.5 ng/mL).In the UC cohort,serum vitamin D level was negatively correlated with disease activity(r=-0.323,P=0.001).VDR expression in the mucosa of UC patients was reduced compared to that in normal tissues(P<0.001)and negatively correlated with disease activity(r=-0.868,P<0.001).Similar results for VDR expression were noted in the most serious lesion(defined as UC diseased)and 20 cm proximal to the anus(defined as UC normal)(P<0.05).Simultaneously,Jmjd3 expression significantly increased in UC patients(P<0.001),but no difference was found between the different sites in UC patients.H3K27me3 expression in UC patients was significantly down-regulated when compared with normal tissues(P<0.001),but up-regulated in the mild disease activity group in comparison with the moderate disease activity group of UC patients(P<0.05).Jmjd3 Level was negatively correlated with the level of VDR(r=-0.342,P=0.002)and H3K27me3(r=-0.341,P=0.002),while VDR level was positively correlated with H3K27me3(r=0.473,P<0.001).CONCLUSION Serum vitamin D and VDR were inversely correlated with

The screening practices for hepatitis D virus(HDV)are diverse and nonstandardized worldwide,and the exact prevalence of HDV is *** To estimate HDV prevalence and investigate viral marker quantity trends in patients with hepatitis *** We collected 5594 serum samples from patients with hepatitis B in Jilin Province,China(3293 males and 2301 females,age range of 2 to 89 years).We then conducted tests for hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg),hepatitis B Virus(HBV)DNA,anti-hepatitis D antigen(HDAg),and HDV *** We found that the prevalence of anti-HDAg and HDV RNA among hepatitis B patient were 3.6%(3.2-4.2%)and 1.2%(0.9-1.5%),respectively,87.69%of hepatitis D patients were 51-70 years *** infection screening positive rate of patients with HBV DNA levels below 2000 IU/mL(2.0%)was higher than those above 2000 IU/mL(0.2%).Among anti-HDAg positive patients,the HDV RNA positive rate was positively correlated with the HBsAg level and anti-HDAg *** was a weak correlation between HBsAg and anti-HDAg levels among hepatitis D *** Our study highlights the importance of considering multiple factors when assessing the severity of HDV infection,comprehensive evaluation of patients’clinical and laboratory parameters is necessary for proper diagnosis and treatment.
